The man on reception was so friendly and helpful. You could tell he loved Rovaniemi. The hotel is clean and has comfortable beds. It is in a great location to a bus stop ( eg Santa's village), the mall and shops. Easy 15 minute walk from the hotel to the train station.

Really great location in a quiet street but only 5 minutes away from the city center on foot. Nice buffet selection for mornings and evenings. Cute comfortable room really strange/awkward bathroom with the toilet in the shower cubicle and super bad smell coming from the drain. We only found out on the last day with a piece of paper on the cupboard shelf that cleaning is not done automatically, you need to ask for it at reception - would’ve been useful to be told this straight upon arrival.

Room was comfortable but the bathroom, especially the shower reeked of feces and urine when I first got there. Used the bathroom as little as possible and had to keep the door shut. One of the lights were out and the door didn't close properly. Came back from breakfast and found it open because I forgot to slam it shut. Breakfast is included 630am to 10am. I liked the sausages with potatoes and whole oranges best. The rest of the breakfast was meh. Some people seemed to really like the smoothie. Not sure where my tour operator got the list of amenities but there were no minibar, hairdryer, or in-room safe.

We booked a room for one night in their apartments. We had to walk 1.5km from the apartment to the hotel to check in (we were not told this prior). On check in we were charged €250 as a deposit, without any prior notice of this. On check out we were told the money would be returned in three days. It has been 4 weeks and we have not received our money back. The hotel refuses to provide confirmation they have returned the money and refuses to respond to any emails. It is not worth the hassle, stress and poor service.

Was back from Finland from a boys trip and visited Rovaniemi. We stayed at Hotel Aakenus and we were fine to put up with the poor quality even though it was expensive. The last straw came when we simply requested for them to check on the slow internet. The lady told us to wait and she will send someone over to check. When we were leaving the front desk, I heard her telling her colleague saying “what an idiot” in Finnish. She doesn’t know I studied Finnish as part of my curriculum back in my Uni days. When I wanted to confront her, my friends told me it’s not worth it. She saw me advancing and got held back by my friends told and gave me the shrug smirk. Horrible service. Gave Finland a really bad name.

I had a really lovely 2 night stay at this hotel. We were a family of 3. Our room was lovely and comfortable on the second floor. We had a small fridge and tv. There was access to Sauna also. Breakfast was really nice and thank you to the owner for providing something I was craving! Coffee also really good. Hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to the centre. It is very nice and quiet and mostly for families. It was so quiet we thought we were the only guests until we went to breakfast. Very good value as well. I booked directly with hotel and paid in advance.

Never four stars!!! Very bad hotel! Very poor value for money. Staff unfriendly (no greeting at the reception at check-in/check-out...never!), uncomfortable single beds, very outdated inventory, no room service, ventilation runs all night (very loud) and cannot be turned off, bathroom stinks from the drain, shower without cabin/curtain - after showering the whole bathroom is wet, breakfast bad, staff at breakfast unfriendly, very small window for ventilation, very weak WLAN...

Good hotel within easily walkable distance from all main attractions of the city of Rovaniemi. Public bus stops also close by. Breakfast buffet is varied and delightful. Sauna hours for ladies and gents available in the evenings.
