My stay at Hotel U Velké boty was truly an exceptional experience. The accommodation is beautiful – tastefully furnished, perfectly clean, and filled with a sense of peace and harmony. The interior brought me back to my childhood, to the times I spent at my grandmother’s house during summer holidays – it has that same warmth, charm, and soul. It’s not a modern hotel, but that’s exactly what makes it so special. Every detail feels thoughtful and made with love, from the cozy rooms to the welcoming common areas where you instantly feel at home. The staff were absolutely wonderful – kind, helpful, and genuinely caring. I felt warmly welcomed from the very first moment. Nothing was ever a problem, and every request was met with a smile and a rare kind of humanity that you don’t often encounter these days.|The location is another big advantage – a peaceful and charming spot right beneath Prague Castle, where calm, history, and beauty come together. It’s the perfect place for anyone who wants to relax, recharge, and still be in the very heart of the city. The whole stay was simply perfect – relaxing, comfortable, and full of warmth. I left with a feeling of gratitude and a certainty that I will happily return. Thank you for the wonderful stay, your kindness, and your care. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for history, atmosphere, and genuine human warmth. ❤️

This is a family-run hotel, which immediately singles it out from the rest. There is something about a family working together - a particular rhythm in how they do things, a commitment to quality and service. This is their livelihood and their investment. That is so true at House at the Big Boot. The delicious breakfast served with care and warm conversation, the location close to town but away from the throngs of people on the other side of the bridge, the lovely old home thoughtfully renovated. It’s like a fairytale to mirror the fairytale that is Prague. I highly recommend both. And if you are planning a trip to Prague, definitely stay here. You won’t regret it. I am writing this from my terrace at the hotel - see photo for the amazing view.

Amazing staff. They were super helpful and a wealth of information. They recommended places to see and eat as well as the best ways to navigate to those areas. |Incredibly clean rooms and a very nice breakfast each morning. |The quiet neighborhood is a short walk to the tourist area of Prague and is a great place to make your home base. |They will also clean your laundry for a minimal price. |I will recommend this place to anyone traveling to Prague.

Spent 3 great nights at the big boot. A small family hotel with big service. From our arrival in Prague until we had to leave we were taken care of. Jakob, Daniel and Matous were very attentive and kind. Breakfast was very good and plentiful(I dont know the name of the lady who cooked my eggs but they were fantastic. Our room was perfect for us. History and recommendation were spot on. Near the Charles bridge but in a quiet section of Prague. Loved our stay here. Thanks everyone

So pleased we booked this lovely, family run hotel. A great escape from the crowds and right near the castle which allowed us to visit when cooler and less busy. The owners were friendly and gave us some great local tips which really helped us enjoy our time in Prague and allowed us to see some areas away from the tourist traps. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Easily reached by tram from the main station.

If stairs are an issue or you want Netflix then maybe the House at the Big Boot is not for you. Otherwise just book it, you won't be disappointed. All the staff are wonderfully warm and helpful. Where else, on arrival, have you ever sat on a sofa with a cup of tea or coffee and be given advice about what to do and see in a city? Laura I will always remember that. The location is fantastic - away from the crowds but a short walk to the Charles bridge, breakfasts are lovely as are the rooms. Don't hesitate - book it.

The owners and staff here is very nice and helpful, since there is no elevator they offer to take your luggage to your room as soon as you complete the check-in. The building itself has a lot of history, some of which you can even see in the rooms. If you are interested in knowing more about it, yet again, ask the staff and they will give you a very great explanation and tell you what, when and how happened. The prices are good and I cannot recommend the chefs breakfast scrambled eggs enough!

I chose this property based on the reviews that said it was very hospitable and quiet. In both cases this proved spot on. I received a warm welcome and a much appreciated drink. My room was spacious and furnished as to be comfortable with its own character. I had come from Vienna where my hotel room had a safe, fridge, tv and tea making facilities. Whilst my room here had none of those features, the hotel is situated in a very safe area of the city, there is a fridge in the reception area that provides cold drinks on a honesty basis at very reasonable prices and you have access to the kitchen to make tea/coffee for free. Breakfast was very well organised and offered a good selection of goodies to meet most people's tastes, including made to order eggs and bacon. The family run hotel offers a more personal experience that makes you feel valued. I appreciated the helpful communication before my arrival and the airport taxi that was arranged on my departure. In total, a very pleasurable experience.

Yelp
We chose to book at Hotel at the Big Boot for many reasons, not just the interesting name alone. The hotel is located in the Mala Strana district of Prague, just across the street from the German Embassy. It's housed in a 17th century home that spans several floors of rooms, offering all the old world charm you'd expect with lots of modern conveniences tossed in. The owner/operators and their staff are extremely friendly and exceedingly helpful. They arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport to relieve the pressure of navigating cabs in a foreign language within minutes of arrival. Upon arrival, we were welcomed, checked in and escorted to our amazing room within minutes. The room featured two windows surrounded by vines and flowers that opened to overlook the square below and the German Embassy. The furniture was older, but extremely comfortable. The bathroom was refurbished with modern fixtures, including a nice glass shower and rain shower head. Breakfast each morning was an informal affair with the staff spending time with each guest. The offerings included cereals, pastries and other items on the table, as well as cooked-to-order eggs and breakfast meats. There was lots of coffee and juice as well. Overall, a wonderful breakfast option until we learned our way around. The staff helped with tour bookings, cabs, restaurant recommendations and reservations and even some cultural conversation over a glass of wine on a cold, rainy night. When we were ready to depart, they arranged for a car to take us to the train station and offered water and fruit for the trip. We can only categorize our stay at House at the Big Boot as wonderful and would recommend this hotel to anyone without reservations.
