Definitely worth the €3 each! A walk uphill, but not as steep as expected, as described in reviews and guide book. I absolutely do not do steep, and it was easily manageable on a hot day for me. It is divided in three parts - the house with furnished rooms and private collections, an exhibition on tiles and a small garden. Very interesting! If the cafe is closed, walk a bit further uphill to neighbourhood cafe A Pipa opposite the convent, which serves the best toasted sandwiches!

Really cool to see so much furniture and decor from the 18th and 19th century. Really reasonable entry fee as well. Spent about an hour going through all the rooms which are set up as a house that the Dr lived in.

Potentially a great musem but we found it to be an underwhelming experience. The entry fee is a modest 3EUR and we were issued with an English map. We were told no photos to be taken inside the building. The tile collection is beautiful and likely to appeal to those that like ceramics, illustration, and antique decorative style. Sadly, there were little details about age and origin; details to tell their stories. The house is interesting and packed with antique items including, silverware, ceramics, paintings, and furniture. Again, a lack of information at point - anything about the residence? Any notable details about the rooms? Etc.

Stunning small museum! The house is kept so authentic you can immerse yourself in life back in the day - magical! Azulejos exposition is a true eye candy as well. Ridiculous price for what you get to see - 3 eur! At 10:00 I was the only visitor and had whole place for myself.

Interesting museum based on the collection and home of a lawyer who died in 1978. Much of the house is late 1800s in style and is much more interesting than the lawyers collection. Nice House and great views. Very nice little garden downstairs too. He didn't have an eye for paintings, had a tendency towards religious icons, little wooden boxes and chests and Toby jugs. There were some things of interest amongst the collection that said and I'm sure you would find your own treasure. Attached is a little tile museum - not huge but has some good looking tiles from Portuguese history. The staff are like hawks making sure you don't make off with a huge cross or something.... make it an extra fun challenge to see if you can get one of them to smile. You are not allowed to take photos inside. Again you get a bonus point if you get one without them noticing... However good for 90 minutes and well worth the 3 Euros.

A museum of 2 halves. You have a beautiful mansion to look around at vintage furniture, artwork and curios, and then the tile museum. A fascinating collection of tiles from all over the world dating back centuries. You get some good views too. Photos are only allowed outside.

Museum consists of great old mansion with a large collection of objet d'art and a modern building with painted tiles from all over the world. Free entry using Madeira Safe to discover points.
