House Of Arras

Our experience at House of Arras was, quite simply, extraordinary. I booked this visit several months in advance as part of my 50th birthday celebration in Tasmania, for a group of twelve people. It became the defining experience of our journey… spoken about long after the last glass was poured. The exceptional quality of Arras sparkling wines, together with their Australian and international awards, was what first drew me in. Arras’ reputation for precision, patience, and uncompromising excellence was compelling enough to change my plans entirely, from a diving adventure in Egypt to exploring Tasmania instead. That decision proved profoundly right. Arras is not just a producer of great sparkling wine; it is a philosophy in action. The wines reflect the legacy and vision of Ed Carr, whose belief that excellence cannot be rushed is evident in every detail. Each glass is layered, poised, and quietly confident: an expression of time, place, and absolute commitment to craft. The tour itself was exceptional. Will led us with depth, clarity, and an engaging warmth that brought the Arras story vividly to life. He guided us through the vineyard and a tasting of four remarkable sparkling wines, weaving together insight, history, and technical mastery with ease. Ebony, who poured the wines, enriched the experience with thoughtful observations, and Flinders (their friendly dog who holds an important title) added a gentle, joyful presence that made the visit feel both intimate and welcoming. We have taken part in many vineyard tours and tastings across Australia and internationally, and this was, without hesitation, the finest any of us have experienced. Every single person in our group named Arras as the standout highlight of our trip. Arras sets a benchmark not only for Tasmanian wine, but for sparkling wine globally. It is an essential experience, one defined by grace, generosity, and excellence. I am deeply grateful to have celebrated my 50th birthday in Tasmania, and even more grateful that Arras was such a meaningful part of that milestone.

Fantastic experience! Will (and the dog!) were a perfect example of warm Tasmanian hospitality. We spent an entire afternoon enjoying tastings, a masterclass, and a walk through the vineyard. Will’s passion and knowledge are truly outstanding—just like the quality of the wines produced by House of Arras. We had the privilege of tasting the full range, including some rare and special vintages. This is absolutely a must-visit for wine lovers and a wonderful way to experience the beauty and flavors of Tasmania.

A Christmas gift for us to share and enjoy, we did the Sparkling Scholar masterclass with Wil and Flinders, was fantastic as was only the two of us and made the experience intimate and memorable. Wil our guide and host did an awesome job of sharing such interesting, insightful and detailed explanations of the stories history of the House of Arras and the visionary strategy to produce world class sparkling wine in Tasmania by Ed Carr. We used to visit a lot back in the day when it was the Bay of Fires cellar door and great to be back for this magnificent masterclass. Two full hours, very professional presentation of all the intricate details of how à world class wine is made and the rich diversity of wine growing in Tasmania and how it all melds together into Ed’s grand vision for these iconic wines. Not sure I can say it any clearer, it’s fantastic, warm Tasmanian hospitality and bubbles to die for, #Mustvisit 😊

We did the wine and wildlife tour. Excellent hosts Will and Joanna (with a cameo from Flinders the dog) who were very gracious hosts (even when I managed to muck up the times and we got there late!). The wine is exceptional . The walk through the winery was really informative, interesting and beautiful. Was also great to see the focus on sustainability and regeneration- will look forward to visiting in the future to see how they progress.

We had a fantastic tasting experience — knowledgeable yet completely down to earth. It felt less like a standard cellar door tasting and more like a relaxed masterclass, with real insight into the winemaking, history, and what makes this cool-climate region so special. The team were generous with their time, explained things clearly without ever being pretentious, and the wines themselves were outstanding across the board. Thoughtful, engaging, and genuinely enjoyable — we left having learned a lot and with a very full appreciation for the wines. Highly recommend.

Joanna was excellent and it was a world class experience. Chairs outside would maybe encourage drinking afterwards - if that was wanted ? We loved it all. Thank you 🙏

What a wonderful experience at House of Arras. It was fascinating to hear the history behind the wines and the incredible care and effort that goes into every magnificent bottle. Will was an exceptional host — incredibly knowledgeable and engaging — only just upstaged by the beautiful Flinders! I’ve been looking forward to visiting for some time, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Amazing!
