I went to the House of Blues Houston in March 2025 to see a concert. There were two big problems:
First, people who lined up before the doors opened were not allowed into the venue for the restroom or to get water. This prohibition made us feel disrespected and disregarded.
Second, at 4 pm, they announced that there would be Fast Passes for sale for early entrance into the venue. That's fine, but there were problems with this announcement:
After people purchased those Fast Passes for $25, the order of the line-up in the queue was totally gone. They ushered us into a bar type area, and they didn't have us stay in the order we had been in for the queue. People were just milling around; there was no line, and they didn't even tell us which door we'd be using to enter the concert hall. One of the staff members even announced that there was no line-up order, and that they would not honor it.
Some fans had started lining up at 6 am, and others lined up throughout the rest of the day. All of those fans did so in the belief that lining up early would ensure a better spot for viewing the show. That belief, that trust, was completely obliterated by HOB staff, who didn't maintain the queue order, AND (even worse) hadn't told us beforehand that they were going to get rid of the line order. I felt really bad for all of the people who had lined up; they ended up wasting that entire day. It was all for nothing. More than 200 people were affected by this huge HOB mistake.
Yes, those fans chose to line up. They didn't have to do so. However, they did so in the good faith that they would have a nice, close spot inside the venue for the show. HOB gave us NO reason to believe otherwise, until 4 pm, when they herded us into the bar area and announced that our lining up order was obliterated.
I got in line at around noon. I had come from out of town for the show and could have spent the day sightseeing and enjoying the Houston area, had I known that the queuing would end up being utterly useless.
HOB needed to have announced through email and through their website days ahead of time that lining up would be meaningless. People deserved to know this well before 4 pm. We all could have had that entire day for ourselves, to do whatever we wished.
As a result of HOB not telling us beforehand, we all felt cheated, lied to, disregarded, and disrespected.
Needless to say, I don't ever want to return to HOB Houston, and I do not recommend it at all.
