After reading lots of reviews and seeing some social media reels, I decided to give this place a try. We went on a Friday night—it had a cool vibe and wasn’t busy at all, so we were seated right away. The hostess was friendly and attentive, which was a nice start. However, the service wasn’t super consistent. Our drinks weren’t refilled promptly, and the music playing overhead was definitely not the clean version, which could be awkward if you’re dining with family. The food had good flavor overall, but the meat we were served seemed overcooked and like it had been sitting out for a while. The tortillas were fresh and wonderful. Also, I think it was one of the first Mexican restaurants I’ve ever been to with sit down service that didn’t offer some complementary chips and salsa I’m glad I tried it and can check it off my list, but I’m not sure I’ll be returning.

First time here and couldn’t be happier. Service was great, staff was very friendly and food was delicious!! We ordered carne assada and the flautas. For drinks we had the blue lagoon and the Pina colada and they’re all 10/10. Definitely coming back here ❤️

I don’t normally feel inclined to leave 1 star reviews even if they are deserved, but this was a disappointing meal. Their menu says everything is made fresh to order, which was not the case for us. The tortillas were stale, and the meat was cold and dry. The asada was not seasoned, and the service was extremely slow. Our two year old who eats anything and everything was spitting the food out.

Unexpectedly delicious! The tortillas here are UNMATCHED. I got an Al Pastor taco and a chorizo quesadilla, both were fantastic. My friend got an enchilada plate and the bite I had was also fantastic. They have games for you to play at your table like chess and Loteria!! The horchata was the perfect touch too. I can't wait to go back. I didn't catch our server's name but he was very friendly and let us practice our Spanish.

Google
This Mexican restaurant does serve authentic Mexican food. I got the pambazo with chorizo, and the chorizo was so good, with a great portion. Also got chilaquiles verdes with birria, and it was delicious; the birria was not dry at all. I was just disappointed in their tamales; they were ok, but they were dry.

First time going to this hidden gem. Had family from Cali visiting and we all wanted authentic Mexican food. We read a few reviews and thought we’d give this place a try. We were not disappointed. They ground their corn in-house, which i thought was pretty damn cool. Some people may not appreciate this (it can be a bit gritty), but it reminded me of my grandmas cooking and I loved it! I got the chilaquiles with eggs and chicken, the tacos dorados, and an horchata… all amazing! Other family members got the enchiladas, quesabirria with consume, street tacos, and queso fundido. We shared a few bites of each other’s food and it was all so good. The decor was also a cool vibe. I’ll definitely be going back to try other items on their menu.

The food was very good as well as the service. However, the air conditioning was broken, and the fan kept turning off. Made it miserable!

Google
I love the immersive decor. The food was wonderfully presented. I’ve eaten many tostadas in town. This was my second favorite. Tortillas were beautiful and tasty. The nice lady who took my order understood what was gluten free. The enchilada green sauce was delicious. Some possible improvements were noted. Tamales were mid. The salsa bar was pretty lack-luster. The pork (carnitas) was a little dry.

Yelp
Delicious. By 7-11. Hidden Gem Nice setting. Order at bar or table. Full service at booth

Yelp
This is a great quick lunch spot with plenty of seating and very attractive interior. I visited with a couple coworkers and we tried a variety of dishes that we each enjoyed. Chile rellenos had nice fluffy batter, enchiladas were a good portion, quesabirria had great cheese, and street tacos (chicken and shrimp) were delicious. We were greeted as soon as we entered and offered a fresh tortilla to try! Food came out quickly. All of us agreed we would come back! I had been here once before during breakfast hours and ordered a breakfast burrito but think I received a regular one, which was underwhelming as the vegetables were cold. But the good lunch experience erased that!

Yelp
I became violently ill (two headed dragon as some would call it) within hours of eating here, so I won't return. I had all the symptoms of food poisoning. My previous/first review was flagged by House of Corn because I was discreet and did not provide enough detail so I have provided that detail now. The tamales tasted re-heated. They were quite dry. The salsa bar was room temperature, not chilled. The sauces with their saucy name were sitting at the bar and were not chilled. I guess I should have known better.

Yelp
Chill atmosphere with authentic home made Mexican food. We had the Huaraches, quesaburrias, and queso fundido- all of which were amazing despite the fundido being a little charred.

Yelp
Glad I decided to drop in to eat at House Of Corn, friendly service and food was delicious. Tasted very fresh and the salsas are great. We enjoyed their Huarache and Chilaquiles. Recommend this place to anyone.

Yelp
tacos had an after taste. the asada was really dry. there was no juiciness or good flavor to the pastor or asada. was really expecting more. the beans and rice are very mediocre

Jasmine J.

Yelp
It was very American Mexican food. The chips were too thick and the chili verde was just green sauce.

Jose P.

Yelp
This place was amazing with great food, amazing service and we even got a tour of how the tortillas are made.

Yelp
Very bland. Super dry beef in tacos. Fast service. Tortillas were nothing special. Not enough salsa on bar to doctor them up to be good. Salsa bar need revamped and cleaned up. At best it was edible. Completely unsatisfying thank goodness only got two tacos. I only ate one. I almost got three definitely will not be coming back. I tried it so you didn't have to save yourself the trip and go to ninth and ninth taco trucks.

Yelp
Food is terrible salsa bar was a dirty atrocity and the prices are too high. Just no.

Yelp
I was born and raised in Arizona and this place is one of the best Mexican food places you can get here in Utah. I almost wept when I had their tamales, I'm so glad I wont have to go another Christmas without them! The staff is also super sweet, it is clean and hip. I can't recommend them enough

Yelp
This is my first time coming here and I will definitely be returning! I ordered the chilaquiles with over easy eggs and let me just say they are some of the best ones I've had in Salt Lake! The food tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned. The portion of the plate was good considering the price... the chilaquiles come with rice and beans, making it the perfect complement. The salsa bar is well stocked and includes some staples like cucumbers, radish, salsas, etc. The service was quick and the workers were very friendly and approachable. The space is nice and they even have the lotería to play while you wait. Would definitely recommend !! :)

Yelp
Saw this on Tic Tok. The food was amazing. The prices were reasonable. A definite "going to go back" in my book. Bring an appetite. Large portions!!!

Yelp
We love the house of corn! It is the best most authentic food I've had since being in Mexico! Would recommend the huaraches any day of the week.

Yelp
Stopped by for my lunch break and wasn't even aware this place existed. Ordered a chicken quesadilla and was very impressed with the service! Very attentive staff who made sure I enjoyed every aspect of my meal. I will definitely be back and I will bring some friends :)

Yelp
I used to work at his first location. Yes he has a failed restaurant and before he says it was the location it is not. I would make $150-$300 worth of tips each day yes I would like to have split this with the cooking staff but no he completely pocketed all the funds claiming that it was to pay the light bill, that is why you sell tacos $5 to pay for your restaurant bills. There are so many other things when I asked him why he told me not to recommend the carne asada tacos -because that is a staple of Mexican cuisine- he said because that's a Tex-mex thing excuse me what?!?! Then a hamburger and fries is Asian cuisine. Not to mention when I worked there we closed at 9 one night without telling any employees he closed the restaurant at 8 and proceeded to have a family party and make us employees serve him. Armando you have some fucking nerve

Tyler C.

Yelp
My favorite tacos. Owner is friendly. They serve breakfast. You can tell everything is fresh. So glad they've reopened. PLEASE give this place a try!!!!

Margaret C.

Yelp
We just had some tacos but they were very good. Fresh tortillas. There are a lot if interesting items on the menu I would like to try. Things I haven't seen at any other Mexican restaurants. We'll be back.

Yelp
I had high hopes for House of Corn, Salt Lake City but they were quickly dashed on my first dining experience there. I ordered the Pazole which I consider a good bench mark for a supposedly authentic Mexican restaurant. I was willing to pay $12.99 for a bowl of soup because it takes time to make good Pazole. What I got was l a bowl of lazy Pazole, that is, a soup that no one took the time to slow cook to coax out even an ounce of flavor. There was no hint of ancho or guajillo chili, no essence of pork broth and, it was topped with shredded lettuce instead of cabbage! I know it takes time to make good Pazole and like Ramen, it's all about the broth. The pork was unseasoned, lacked salt and tasted like it had been pressure cooked in an InstaPot, (not to give InstaPot a bad name). The al pastor taco that my partner had was just as bland (unseasoned pork and ungrilled pineapple. What a disappointment!!! Back to my regular taco truck I go and for a third of the price.
