House of Flavors

Visited Saturday 8/14/21 Always a fan of visiting small ice cream shops. This shop isn’t affiliated with the “House of Flavors” in Michigan. This shop also doesn’t make their own ice cream so that’s a let down. The “sugar free” ice cream isn’t technically “sugar free” or “no sugar added” and when I asked about it the staff argued it didn’t have any artificial sweetener in it. However in my research the ice cream contains sucralose an artificial sugar the body can’t break down. Eat the ice cream with sugar! You’re not doing any good for your health by eating the sugar free. The place was clean, and has been around for many many years. Their kitchen is small along with their working space. The fish comes in frozen and isn’t fresh. The tenderloins are probably okay… again not fresh. The ice cream was okay, we got the turtle but it didn’t taste like it. That was a disappointment. Pricing was a bit on the high side for 2 cones. About $9 Probably won’t visit again but only due to not being in the area again.

I’ve had a few different sandwiches here, a burger, a tenderloin and no ice cream! What truly stands out here is the coney dog. So great! It comes with cheese and chopped onions on an open style bun with tons of sweet coney sauce. Truly the best coney ever. The hot dog itself is double thick and as large as the bun so no shortcomings there. The sauce is slightly sweet and I prefer spicy yet the thickness and flavor is all there. I’ve gotten the coney as a carry out and also dine in. The atmosphere is quaint and it seems the tables and chairs(one booth)could use rearranging but it is currently set up for the ice cream as much as for the restaurant. I look forward to trying more of their food as I hear they have daily specials. The employees are all friendly and the prices are decent. A hidden small town gem.

This is the local gem that you would likely not go to if you were just jusging it by the outside appearance. I was fortunate to have some Locals cue me in on this great little place. House of Flavors is a converted mechanic shop turned restaurant with some of its history still present. There is about a driveway’s worth of parking in the front and people just park however they can. When you go in, you find that the food is cooked with love and delicious. The people, staff and locals, are tops and make you feel at home. Everybody knows everybody. While I was clearly an outsider, they made me feel welcome too. My favorite part however is the Blessing Board. You can buy ice cream for someone and they put that persons name on a colored sticky note, which then goes on the Blessing Board. You have to walk by this board when you come in, so if you see your name there, you know someone was thinking of you and bought you some Ice cream. By the way, one scoop of ice cream is huge as you can see from my pictures. That, friends, is a reflection of all that is good in Small Town America.

We were in town to pick up pies from Wicks and intended to eat at their cafe but it was closed on Monday's. I found this place on maps and asked the Wick's employee if it was any good and they said oh yeah ! We are glad we gave it a try. A GREAT hole in the wall, local, friendly place. Nothing fancy, but it was delicious and the prices were super reasonable. I'd go again if I stumble in this small town again for sure !

Started with a mocha latte to wake me up and got the crispy chicken wrap with ranch and it is so delicious!! chicken cooked perfectly and the portion to price ratio is really good. have to follow it up with some ice cream. the team is fast and friendly and I was able to relax while enjoying a pretty hardy lunch. 10/10 will return.

We love this place. Great sandwiches and onion rings. Delicious hand packed ice cream.

I pass this place all the time and decided to stop by one day with my grandkids. We all ordered ice cream. Even though we had a big order (7 cups in all) the young man behind the counter was very professional and kind. It took a little time to get 7 different cups of ice cream but he worked very fast. My grandkids told me to give a great review because they had a wonderful experience. Thank you to the staff at House of Flavor's

I was born in Winchester and I have memories of going to the house of flavors when I was a little kid. I learned how to ride a bike so we got ice cream. My t-ball team won the game so we got ice cream. One of the best little ice cream shops I have ever been to. Great food and ice cream. Lunch specials during the week.

Fountain drinks tasted like it was two days old and baked potato with meat/cheese had no flavor. Staff was polite.

I'm not old enough to fuck with it enough. I wish they had soft serve. All yhe food food is poopy the ice cream is eh

Great service and locally owned. They have great specials all week and great tenderloin and house special.

Stopped in for lunch today, got the tenderloin baskets. Tenderloins good as usual. Fries are very good here. Cole slaw was not its normal, about average today to creamy. Breaded cauliflower was top notch. I chose the cheese sauce over the ranch but both are good. Chili cheese fries were good. Superman ice cream is excellent and a favorite of all the kids.

In Sunday after church and lunch was very good. From the tenderloin sandwich to the cod sandwich and Philly cheesesteak, no complaints! And, we want to support our small businesses as well!

Good old-fashioned ice cream place with a tasty looking food menu and a friendly staff. Some of my family frequent it often and can't pass through town without stopping.

Great if you like hair in your ice cream, I usually don't mind a hair but once you start counting I think a bad review is merited.

A great out-of-the-way almost hidden gem in Winchester! Come for the food and stay for the large selection of ice-cream! Try the coffee, too.

Unbelievable food options. Great family restaurant. Feel like a part of the family while eating there & top it all off with some ice cream. 30 plus ice cream choices.

Very affordable, we got a waffle cone, two regular cups and a mini cup for under $10! Also, fast and friendly service! Love stopping in here for ice cream, but looking forward to having a meal there. Especially excited to try the breaded tenderloin.

Excellent mom and pop shop that cares about their customers. Always very nice staff with delicious food and ice cream. I recommend getting the ice cream cone. Huge amount of ice cream that tastes delicious!

On a visit to my mother's hometown, we stopped in to grab a bite at what we hoped would be a great mom and pop shop. Oh how disappointing. Three teenage girls could hardly be bothered to serve us at the counter. We tried to engage friendly chatter, as I asked if they attended the same high school as my mom. It was as if we were aliens speaking a foreign language. They could have cared less. My mom got a huge hand scooped ice cream come while my dad and I ordered pork tenderloin sandwiches which were being promoted out on the store's marque. They were the worse sandwiches ever. Don't waste your money on anything but the ice cream and don't expect any friendly service.

Great food! Wether I'm in the mood for a cheeseburger, breaded tenderloin or chili dogs I am alway satisfied with my meal! And of course my dessert too.

This was one of my favorite ice cream spots while growing up in Winchester. It was a place that you could easily meet up for friends and not worry about spending much money. The best, right? I remember loving the Superman ice cream, but maybe it was just because it looked the coolest? They have other good options as well, but it was never anything to write home about - I would probably just stick with the ice cream. It's a small shop, but like I said, they have some outdoor seating as well, so that's helpful in the summertime.

Bbq beef basket was filling and good. The french fries were exceptionally good....hot, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. (Never before have I felt like reviewing fries) Good food for a low price in a small hometown friendly simple atmoshere.

We love visiting the HOF. Great place to stop and get ice cream. Outdoor seating is enjoyable. I love the ability to order and mix all kinds of things. I want a banana split with mint chocolate chip, vanilla, and turtle treasure ice cream. "No Problem" More than just ice cream, great food & good coffee too! Locally owned & operated! Great staff, always friendly.

Food is so so. Ice cream is ok but $3.35 for a medium hot fudge sundae is rather steep.
