A charming boutique hotel within walking distance of the slopes and ski lift. It’s a small hotel with an intimate and chic atmosphere. The quality of the cuisine is high (we had breakfast and dinner included), and it was a pleasure every evening! The Italian chef was truly amazing! There was a recent change of ownership, and the new owner and staff were still getting acclimated, but this was compensated by extra attention, and any minor issues were promptly resolved. Overall, we were very satisfied with the complete package; we enjoyed it immensely as a family. There’s a cozy bar, an excellent spa, and a wonderful restaurant—exactly what you crave after a day of intense skiing.

I had the pleasure of staying at Wachtelhof for a couples' weekend in the mountains, and it exceeded all expectations. From the elegantly designed room with its stunning views to the outstanding spa amenities. The dining experience was lovely, with impeccable service and delicious options at both breakfast and dinner. The experience was a great balance of luxury with the warm, inviting charm of a chalet. Its proximity to the slopes and the genuinely friendly and welcoming atmosphere made it an ideal retreat. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a sophisticated yet cozy getaway. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

New owner: Unfortunately, quail is no longer available on the menu (new menu), making both the menu and the website outdated. While the decor is charming, the overall experience was less than impressive. Both the service and the quality of the food fell short of expectations, especially given the high prices. Sadly, our visit was not particularly memorable, though we were fortunate to have delightful table neighbors who shared our sentiments.

It’s a beautiful hotel, very cozy especially during Christmas time. We spent 2 nights there and really enjoyed the room and the spa facilities. It was new management- a young couple very nice and trying to give their best service. Location is great especially for ski beginners as they are 5 min walking to the ski school. I’m not scoring them as 5 stars as it is a very expensive hotel and thus, expecting a superb experience. Not sure if they were understaffed but the restaurant took forever to bring the food during the 2 nights. Especially for Xmas we pre ordered food and it took 2,5 hours to bring all dishes. This was very disappointing. Then they told me it was a set menu for a fixed price. When they came with the bill they charged for every single item. Communication was poor. Previous dinner they messed up with our order but I think it was a communication issue as they didn’t have staff that speaks English well. In a nutshell, beautiful hotel but overpriced for the service given. Hope they will address these issues soon as it’s a magical place.

We stayed here for four nights for a ski break. The interior is contemporary but still has a traditional, cosy feel. All the staff are wonderful - extremely helpful and friendly. Our room (37), at the back of the hotel, was lovely with an extremely comfortable bed and huge bathroom. Lots of space. We had complete peace and quiet. The only reason we gave a very good rather than excellent was because we didn’t have much of a view. We ate in the restaurant once and had a fantastic fondue. Even though the hotel is very close to the ski lift, the buggy ride to the ski lift was very much appreciated and fun! We would definitely return.

Excellent hotel. Very nice balance between comfort, quality and coziness - all in authentic Austrian style. We loved the breakfast, dinner is also very good and the young owners are doing a great job serving their guests.

We loved this hotel. Every member of the staff made us feel very special and very welcome from the moment we arrived until the minute we drove away a week later. We especially appreciated the golf cart transportation to and from the lift each day. The hotel is beautifully decorated. We were given a family room with two bedrooms that was absolutely amazing -- balcony with a view of the mountains, fireplace, and the extra bedroom was so handy to store all of our clothes. The food is amazing -- the chef does an outstanding and job and is very creative. Every meal was a culinary treat! We even had Swiss fondue one night. We chose one of the recommended wines each night with dinner and they were all excellent. Breakfast was to die for, so many choices - we ate so much each morning that we skipped lunch on the slopes each day.||If you are going to Hinterthal, please stay at Hotel Wachtelhof, you won't be disappointed.
