After visiting Uçhisar Castle, we decided to have a meal and found this restaurant through Google Maps. Outside the entrance, several pottery kebabs were already lined up and cooking.
When we stepped inside, the interior felt a bit cheap, and I thought, “Did we make a mistake?”
Then, the chef (or maybe the owner?) recommended the most expensive pottery kebab on the menu. Since we had tried pottery kebab at a luxury hotel restaurant the night before and weren’t impressed—and because we weren’t very hungry—I asked about other options. He said they would take about 30 minutes to prepare, which made me feel even more like we were being steered toward the pottery kebab, and that this might have been a bad choice.
After thinking it over, we decided not to waste time and to compare it with yesterday’s kebab, so we ordered the pottery kebab for TRY 1,500 and asked for a salad. He told us the salad was included with the kebab. Along with the salad, bread and rice were also served. Yesterday’s restaurant also included salad and rice, so maybe that’s standard.
While waiting, feeling a bit uneasy, the pottery kebab finally arrived. When we tasted it, the meat had a hint of lamb aroma but was incredibly tender, melting in the mouth. The garlic was well-cooked and flavorful, making it far superior to what we had last night. Even though we weren’t hungry, the three of us nearly finished it all.
The bill came to TRY 1,650 for three people, including bottled water and tea—very reasonable.
If I ever visit Cappadocia again, I would definitely go back to this restaurant.
By the way, I realized this place was already saved on my Google Maps. Looks like I had planned to visit from the start 😅
The pottery kebabs lined up outside were for the evening and take three hours to cook, so they weren’t leftovers 😅
The chef was cheerful, entertaining, and spoke English.
We parked our car about 100 meters east of the restaurant in a large parking lot facing a roundabout. It cost TRY 50, which was fair, and there was an attendant, so it felt safe.
