"A Hundred-Year-Old Photographic Archive This delightful gallery is housed in one of Marrakech 's elegant Saadian town houses, all creamy white plaster walls and subtle bejmat (unglazed terra-cotta) tiled floors. It's the perfect setting for what began as owner-creators Hamid Mergani and Patrick Manac’h’s private and extensive collection of photographs that document scenes and portraits of Moroccan life over the past century. Today the foundation encompasses a whole lot more, with numerous collectors and photographers such as Daniel Chicault, Ana Muller, and Jean-Pierre Évrard donating or loaning from their own collections. There’s also a terrific little café on the roof for traditional Berber cooking and splendid views of the Atlas Mountains."

The Musée de la Photographie de Marrakech is a must see. It feels like stepping into a shared memory. Its black-and-white photographs quietly reveal everyday life in Morocco over the last century— people at work, moments of rest, street scenes, landscapes — all captured with honesty and care. There’s something deeply human about the images; they slow you down and invite you to really look. Rather than explaining the culture, the museum lets it speak for itself, through faces, gestures, and ordinary moments that feel both distant and surprisingly familiar. The real history of Marrakech is revealed in these honest images.

Great quiet(er) place in super intense and some times aggressive Marrakech. The ticket is also good for the Music Museum. The terrace is peaceful and has good food and drinks. We enjoyed our visit very much.

Such a beautiful place with the lovely rooftop, also learnt a lot about the culture, probably more will be stuck with me than touritic city guides. Staff was very friendly too and even let me charge my phone at the reception. As a photographer this was perfect escape from the busy city🫶🏼

A riad that hosts Marrakesh's photography museum. A wonderful collection of photographs documenting the people and places of Morocco and Marrakech. Some of the pictures are over 100 years old, but even those from the 1960's seem to tell a story of a different world. Many of the portraits are stunning to look at and observe, but it's worth reading and understanding some of the history of these pictures. The building is relaxing and not too busy. There is a very nice, relaxed cafe at the top on the terrace which serves various drinks and juices. Recommended for a rest and a change of pace from the souls.

Lovely museum although we took a very circuitous route to find it including being scammed by a local for directions. We were relieved to finally reach the beautiful peaceful space showcasing stunning pictures. The terrace cafe on the roof gave stunning views across the city

Great compact gallery, I wouldn't pay 8€, considering the size, 5€ is optimal. However, the collection is great and you could spend about 30-45 min there easily.

Of course, I couldn’t just walk past the House of Photography when we were staying so close, especially while we’re have a hobby as photographers ourselves. So yes, visiting was a must. It’s a small but charming place, with lots of different works displayed on the walls, and upstairs there’s a rooftop terrace where you can relax and unwind after your visit.

Cool museum with three floors of photographs from different artists, times, and types of photography. The rooftop has a cafe with nice views as well. Ticket includes access to the museum of music as well.
