"A midcentury-modern gem for Joshua Tree trips, this two-bedroom has a large living room overlooking the valley and a pool (heat available for a fee) with incredible desert views and plenty of lounge space. A hammock, hot tub, and on-site hiking path round out the desert escape." - Jamie Spain, Jessica Sulima

This place has really gone down hill. It’s turned into a roach motel compared to what it used to be. My family has been coming here since the 90’s and this place is a joke compared to what it used to be. The manager is rude and the rooms are dirty and constantly having things broken in them. The hallway has black mold and severe damage and none of this was disclosed to us when we booked. I am severely disappointed and we will not be back to this dump!

We love House of the Sun! We have been staying at House of the Sun for over 10 years. Be patient with all of Sursta Key as the area is still repairing and renovating after the hurricanes last year. Siesta Key is still the best!!!!

Before I get into the bad parts of my stay I’ll start with the great stuff. House of the Sun is nicely situated on the best beach in Florida. The room is spacious and sleeps plenty with a decent view of the water depending on your unit. Now the bad: one elevator out of two for the whole building was closed for remodel, and the other elevator was down twice during our stay, this is especially serious considering we were on the fifth floor. The room’s washing machine was moldy and musty, the dryer didn’t dry. The smart tv couldn’t connect to the Internet, the room had a bunch of little ants everywhere. The hallways were being updated so they were all patchy and it looked unfinished and unprofessional. Out of our week stay I only saw two people once working on the hallway, so it looks like it’ll be looking rough for a while. I’m sorry I can’t recommend this place anymore, which is a shame because my family has been coming here since 1994. I hope they make some major changes soon, because I really loved House of the Sun.

We love unit 512GF! The updates the new owner did has made this condo even more amazing . The beach view from patio is awesome ! The only thing I would recommend is a new mattress and curtains in master suite ! We book our summer weeks vacation in this condo every year !! Love it !!

We have stayed at HOS for many years and it has worked out well for us. The location is great being right on the beach and within a short walk to several restaurants, bars, and other amenities. The grounds look great after the renovations that were done after the hurricane. During our visit they were just starting to replace the hallway carpeting. We also appreciate the beach attendants being so accommodating. Several nearby resorts take up the chairs and umbrellas at 4:00 but HOS doesn't do that. However, we are one and done with Unit #411. Although the view is great the furniture was very uncomfortable to the point of being unusable. We'll be back but in a different unit.

Mostly nice but do your research on the units to set your expectations as they vary wildly in condition. We would pay more to stay in a unit that didn't feel beat down and I wish there were more nice ones! I hope the unit owners take that to heart if they want this place to survive long term. I think the beach attendant really needs to pay more attention to the groups who come down first thing and put a lanyard on a chair set, only to mosey down a few hours later. We did not think this was fair to families with kids who got down to the beach at 10:30am to find a bunch of empty reserved seats.

Place is a dump. Every hallway was a mess. Exposed wiring and piping everywhere, including mold. My family would always stay in room 215. The room still has the same furniture from back then. Gross.

Great place to stay while at Siesta Key. Close to everything, easy of getting on and off the Key. Apt. are clean and stocked for a few days, the beach is incredible, and free beach chairs while you stay. Office staff is friendly and listens to your concerns.
