I believe this is one of the best hospitals in the region. From my experience everyone including the reception staff, nurses, doctors and even the public security officers were extremely helpful and caring. One of my colleagues had an emergency situation and the response was outstanding. The ambulance service arrived very quickly and by the time we reached the hospital everything was already arranged. The medical team immediately took the necessary actions without any delay. The professionalism, efficiency and kindness shown by the entire staff truly stood out. I highly recommend their services.

This has been, without question, the worst hospital experience my family has ever had. The level of care my father received was unacceptable and deeply concerning. Most of the nursing staff treated him as though caring for him was an inconvenience, not their responsibility. The only people who consistently treated him with dignity were the custodian, the doctor, and one nurse’s assistant. My father is on strict medication schedules, yet his medicines were repeatedly mishandled — one dose was delayed by three hours, and several others were ignored completely. This is not a minor oversight; this is dangerous. With the exception of Margaret, the nurses on Fondren 12 were dismissive, unprofessional, and at times outright disrespectful. I had to request that one nurse be removed from his care because she was practically yelling at him. What makes it even worse is that my father had to endure this for seven days. If it had been possible to move him to another hospital, we would have done so immediately. The night staff was rude to my mother on the very first night, setting the tone for what became a consistently awful experience. No patient — and no family — should ever be treated this way. I am deeply disappointed, extremely upset, and expect this feedback to be taken seriously.

The people in the lab suite #523 never answer the phone. Additionally the technicians didn't even know how to do a basic throat swab and one of them couldn't do it without gagging. I am still waiting after 4 hours for my Rapid Strep test which should take 15-30 minutes. Instead I get to melt and potentially lose another day of work during my busiest week. This is "leading the world in medicine". Do better Methodist.

It’s true that it takes a village! My daughter, who attends Texas A&M, started her stay at the ER and her nurse Ethan was incredible. Her surgeon, Dr. Morris was also incredible along with her nurses in recovery. The nurses and staff on Dunn 8 West were beyond kind and caring. We were both nervous that she would not make ring day at A&M but with Houston Methodist, she did! I am so grateful for all the care my daughter received.

Dr. Charudatta Shrikant Bavare completed surgery on me on 10/30/2025 for severe narrowing of the celiac artery at Houston Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center. On 11/1/2025 I developed severe blood clots in my lungs as well as legs due to Dr. Bavare not giving me blood thinners after the surgery during my hospital stay there. Common practice is to give a patient Heparin or Lovenox which both are blood thinners after the type of surgery that I had in order to prevent pulmonary embolisms and blood clots. I now have to take blood thinner pills (Eliqus) for the next 6 months of my life. Due to this event it also caused me to have to seek additional medical care as well as it caused me to have to stay in the medical center for a longer period. I was in the hospital for almost a month because of this whole condition. Also less than 24 hours after my discharge I had to be readmitted to Houston Methodist Sugar Land on November 6 after being discharged from Medical Center on November 5 due to the fact that there were more blood clots in my lungs that were not addressed before I left. Upon my admission to the Sugar Land location within hours of the discharge from the Medical Center, Sugar Land ended up doing what the Medical center shouldve done. Sugar Land kept me on a Heparin Drip for a few days and it helped but it still doesnt fix the fact that my life is now changed due to Houston Methodist Medical Center negligence in health care. I feel the nurse could've prevented this as well when I was transferred to the Walter tower on the 20th floor. I heard the nurse say to another nurse in my room why isnt he on any blood thinners, and then afterwards she told me Im going to message Dr. Bavare and have him change the frequency of your pain meds because all you are going to do is sleep in bed all day from taking too many pain meds. She said this as I was in excruciating pain asking her for pain meds. I did not ask that nurse to do that because I was in severe pain. She did that on her own.I feel if that nurse was to message the doctor and tell him to change my pain meds which he did then why couldn't she ask him why didn't I have a blood thinner after the surgery. I have reported this to the Texas Dept of Health and Human Services, Houston Methodist Guest Relations, and I have also reported the surgeon to the Texas Medical Board. Houston Methodist needs to do something about this problem they have created due the negligence of their staff and providers. I will be spreading this situation to everyone I know in hopes that this does not happen to anyone else. Who knows people learning about my situation may save someone else's life.

This review is written from the visitor point of view; I was not a patient. Pros: This hospital has elegant decor, nice attending staff to help you navigate through the massive space, a well tended gift shop with lots of items, a full cafeteria with almost anything you might want to eat, a gorgeous doll house display, and even a pretty courtyard along side of a interior gathering area complete with a piano player. The entrance is on the monorail system with a stop right near the doors. All these things are nice, but wait, there’s more. Cons: The location is very far from my home area of the Memorial District. The med center is right by Rice University, which is both a very uppity area but also a very transient area. Valet parking is almost always full leading you to wind your way through the 10 level also completely full parking garage. We parked on level 10, but due to where the elevator is located, we had to walk to level 9. The stairs we passed smelled of urine. When we exited the elevator, the smell of trash was overwhelming. When we crossed the small street to get to the entrance, the smokers outside were less than concerned about us inhaling their smoke. Once inside, the massive space is hard to navigate. I’ve heard multiple people rave about Methodist Hospitals and their level of care. Many people I know, prefer them over Memorial Hermann. My dad was in for back surgery. His room was originally the ICU wing, so it was quite large. His nurse was very nice and personable. I liked the presentation of the hospital, but I can’t imagine going down there and having to fight traffic, plus dealing with the parking, if it was personally my choice. I didn’t feel it was fair to give three stars since most of what I am reviewing is not based on a patient’s point of view. The extra star given was due to my dad’s satisfaction with his experience.

I will never forget Nurse Kristy and Jacky. I came here to deliver my baby last week & they made this labor an unforgettable one. Kristy helped ease my worries and was the best while getting the epidural from Dr. Flores, who was also amazing. Jacky never left my side during and after the delivery. Thank you guys so much. The staff who took care of me throughout my stay were also great. Definitely recommend having your baby here!

As a physician who works in the medical center, I am appalled at how poorly the doctors and providers communicate with the patient and family. My husband was admitted with encephalopathy and it’s documented in the HPI that history was obtained from his wife at bedside, which was false. I was not there and received no updates from the ED provider after arriving to the hospital- we weren’t even informed he was being admitted until the escort showed up saying the room was ready. On the floor, scans were ordered and cancelled without discussing care plan/rationale with the patient and certainly not the family. Abnormal lab results were not reviewed with the patient. If this is the best hospital in Texas, then we are screwed.
