Yelp
A delightful little place in Ucluelet, totally worth the high reviews we read, set along the main road in the sleepy little town along the Peninsula.
The place has a delightful setup, two lanes for family bowling, and a gift shoppe for the trinket hunters. Deep inside, if you go for that kind of thing, before or after the meal, there is a massive games area set up for arcade, pinball, and pool.
But we were there for the food.
What a mind opening experience. Fun fast and friendly, super friendly! staff were incredibly helpful describing dishes and answering questions, each ready with eager smiles. Despite one night being incredibly busy, food arrived within record times. Delicious, local IPA brews on tap kept the conversation going until the first bite.
We went back twice, and the service was amazing both times. It was so hard to find a place with reasonable prices, we didn't feel it right to wander aimless in search of the unknown, so like the cheap cowards we are, we went back for another stab at a rather plentiful menu.
The options are delicious. There are great veggie options for those in that diet. Going with seafood our expectations were surpassed and I had one of the best chowders ever. I can honestly put it in the top three while mentally recounting my long history with the chowder, east coast and west coast, since I was little. Seriously. And the sweet potatoe fries were so crisp and clean with barely a trace of grease. The freshly caught salmon was grilled to perfection. The salads and veggies all came in an amazing presentation-style.
Big bonus! No rumbly tummies on the walk back to the hotel or while in bed. Would always go back when visiting that part of Vancouver Island.
Well done team!
