Hualien Gangtian Temple

Stunning temple!!! One of the biggest I’ve seen in Taiwan and wow was it beautiful. Had such a lovely time exploring the temple.

The place is huge!! You can see the beautiful mountains at the back. It’s a magnificent view. The place is like a maze! You can actually get into the dragon to climb the stairs to the third floor. There’s a lot of worship halls, murals, lanterns, art… totally worth the visit.

Fantastic multistory temple with large pillars featuring internal staircases to access the shrines upstairs. The temple is quite beautiful and I recommend a visit

A large temple with the all the details, colour and beauty of these Taoist temples. Interesting are the two Dragon towers either side of the entrance with spiral staircase inside each.

Gang Tian Temple, a goddess Matsu temple. Pretty impressive large temple but certain area of temple require upkeep. Two large dragon mouth at front the temple. Climb the spiral stairs from left & exit on right. Quite a distance from Hualien town centre.

A really fascinating, magnificent place to visit, more of must place visit for devotees of Taoism. The place is tranquil and calms ones mind. Do spend some time to study the buildings, you'll be surprised how deep it's meaning is. The place is off the main streets of Hualien, so flagging down a cab back to the city can be a problem. It took me about 35 minutes of walk back to Hualien station. Special thanks to Elder Zhang (if I remember correctly) for imparting his great knowledge to me, really blessed to be fated to meet him in the temple. For those fated, spend some time with him, he'll share something which no ordinary people will see.

Huge property. So many places to walk around and explore. Very welcoming and colorful.
