Huizenga Park

Huizenga Park is a beautiful and peaceful spot right in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The river views are relaxing, the walking paths are clean, and the atmosphere feels safe and open. It’s a great place to take a short stroll, sit by the water, or unwind for a few minutes in the middle of the city. Definitely worth a quick stop!

Has many restaurants by the water. They have markets, cafe's n different things going on. You can take walks,you can get on the river boats and let it take you around Ft. Lauderdale. Also,it can also drop you off wherever you want to go. You can get back in n go back to where you got on.

Nice area to take a walk either alone, or with kids/dog. Plenty of seating areas and a nice view of the river along with the boats that park and pass. I love that the trees provide such a nice shade for relaxing or reading. Sometimes, the homeless like to take naps on some of the benches, but there are really plenty of places to sit so it shouldn’t affect your time here. There is a stage where sometimes free yoga, concerts, etc. Take place. Be sure to keep up with the event calendar or on their social media platforms.

Today this park is having the Annual Day of the Dead celebration 2021. It started at this park at 4 and then we follow the huge skeleton procession that took us to Revolution Live nightclub. The schedule as to the different events time happening are listed online. The celebration was so cool. It had face painting stations. They do a job on the painting, these ladieshave skills. The event had live music and Mexican traditional dances. So many beautiful costumes here. It was very well organized. You can be an expectator or part part of the parade. The procession uses the back streets to get to Revolution. It is so cool to watch this huge puppets move. Some of the costumes very creative. This is a family and pet friendly park and event. The park. A parking garage is near and very convenient.

We stumbled upon this park after detouring from the Bodega and Society while trying to get to the Water Taxi Stop 1. Instead of crossing the street which anchored up to the bridge, we took a right and walked towards the Riverfront passing Rivertail on our right and crossed under the bridge to see this gem. It seems like a good neighborhood park for the downtown area as during the day people were walking their dogs, seated and talking on their phones or with each other and exercising. When we passed by 3 hours later after coming our excursion on the Water Taxi to have dinner at Rivertail, we noticed a game of kickball and the gorgeous fountain lit behind the game. Attended the vegan pop up event and although I'm not vegan it was fun for all. Tons of people, kids and dogs and my friends loved the food choices. I'm thinking they weren't expecting the turnout they got so perhaps next time there will be more food vendors attending making the wait for orders a bit shorter. All in all a beautiful day.

Our family enjoyed the Winterfest Family event. Fun activities for the kids with plenty of prizes and giveaways. I am happy that this event continues to put a smile on children's faces.

Great little Park located in downtown Fort Lauderdale. There's a little Amphitheatre there and they host a lot of events during the weekend. They also have a cool little fountain on the corner of Andrews and Las Olas.

Huizenga Park is at the heart of Downtown Fort Lauderdale, where art, business, living, education, and entertainment intersect. Huizenga's central location on the New River at Las Olas Boulevard and Andrews Avenue offers a natural setting among the bustle and density of the urban core. Situated between Las Olas Boulevard and the Riverwalk, it is a beautiful green space for many to enjoy. The park was originally built over 25 years ago at a time when downtown was primarily a destination for business. A space for large events was needed to attract residents to downtown. Today, the amphitheater holds many events, concerts and festivals. The 2 acre park is the venue for many city activities throughout the year and on a daily basis, it is one of the most used Dog Parks in downtown, where you can see dozens of dogs and their owners, play and relax.

This park is adjacent to the Fort Lauderdale's River walk. The park unfortunately looked forlorn and sad to me. I noticed two homeless people sleeping on the pavilion. This park extends northwards from the Riverwalk and is tucked away beneath the east side of the Andrews Avenue bridge. Its main feature is a large, open lawn in front of a pavilion.

I wandered over here after a visit to the NSU Art Museum. Located on Tarpon Bend the park has a beautiful view of the waterway. There is a large fountain and the city does a nice job of decorating the plaza for the holidays. There is a large amphitheater for outdoor concerts and cultural performances. During the year a lot of events are held here like a walk for the humane society, Oktoberfest, and Day of the Dead celebrations. There are benches and art work. It's a beautiful place to take a stroll along the New River. On my visit I couldn't help but notice the large number of homeless people who were in the park. The large camp of homeless people in front of the plaza at the library seems to have now spread into the surrounding areas. I have a lot of sympathy for them but nothing seems like it is being done and the problem is getting worse. After feeling uncomfortable I cut my visit short. If I come back it will only be during an event when there are a lot of other people in the park.

This would be a beautiful park if it wasn't littered with homeless people. It's clearly a center for them all to loiter and sleep under the amphitheater at all hours of the day.

It's a beautiful park by the Tarpon River. The city puts on festivals here throughout the year. In between, it's a nice place to come to relax and escape the busyness of downtown Fort Lauderdale. Sit by the river and it won't be long before an iguana comes for a visit.

Small park with a spectacular view of the intercostal. There are restaurants and bars near. I was here for the day of the dead parade. I had a good time. They had music, face painting and a nice parade. Its a nice family event. The custumes were awsome. There are plenty of places to park here too.

I love Huizinga Park. My basic use for the park is beginning and ending 5k's and community walks. Pretty much any downtown race begins at Huizinga Park. In the front of the park is a large, beautiful fountain and beyond it is a pretty even grassy area. Beyond that is a stage where I imagine there are some performances there, but I have never seen any. I've also visited the park for a few Oktoberfests. The park isn't large but can pack a lot of people into it. Along the edge of the park are benches for you to relax on and there is a connecting trail for you to walk along the water which is always nice to do in the morning. It's pretty much in the heart of downtown/ Las Olas so I imagine this place would be a perfect spot for taking your lunch break at if you can get a seat or a place to have a picnic if it's not too hot. It's kept up well and is always festively decorated for the holidays. It's nice to see a little greenery/grass in a city full of sand.

Love outdoor parks and even more when they are in the city. We were fortunate enough to attend the Walk for Paws event while we were briefly visiting Fort Lauderdale last Saturday. The park was wall to wall people with their adorable dogs. It was fun to walk around and see all the dogs, some dressed in their best doggie threads. All the dogs and their owners were so nice posing for pictures etc. The event seemed to be well organized. The park itself is charming. Nice sidewalks, a fountain, nice landscaping, clean or as clean as can be that day with all the four legged dogs walking around handling their business. It's situated in a nice area right across from the riverwalk area. A place for outdoor concerts which I'm sure would be fun to go to. Great little park with a great location and a great events held there.

This park has a beautiful fountain that plays music and has a light show set to music. There is a band shell that allows performances on big occasions. This park also has workout equipment you can use. There is a large grassy area and benches along the edge. There are no restrooms. There is parking along the street that is metered. It is along the river so there is a pretty view of the water.

This park is the center of seemingly every event and festival that takes place downtown!! There seems to be something going on most weekends- from the St. Patrick's Day festival to cultural fests to marathon beginnings/finales to pet events and food trucks and beer events and more! Definitely keep up with their events so you don't miss any!!! Even when there is not an event, it is a GREAT place to just run around during the day. On weekends, stop by the juice stand and try the freshest smoothies! Delicious!!!

Very nice fun park, u can buy tacos, crepes, grilled cheese, coffee... Beautiful waterfront views!

Large, clean park in great location. Great for any group size or occasion...I went to the inaugural #Chilloungenight. Even with the crowd, booths, sofas, tables, chairs, bar, display cars, restrooms...there was still ample space to walk around and easy enough to view the stage from anywhere...I would give this park five stars if it had permanent public restrooms and specific areas for kids and pets. It has the space but I didn't see anything.

I/We really enjoy this place. We have a get together which begins at the stage every year for a dear friend that passed away near the park. Love the fountain too. A nice place to chill and hang out by the water. Close to Downtown and right on Las Olas.

I have to give it up to the HP! This park is the jump off for pretty much every race that take place in the downtown Ft. Laudy area. And if you don't start there, you end up here for the race after party or at least to check your finishing times and get mad event swag. Most recently it was host to the St. Patty's 4 miler race and launched the annual St Patty's FtL parade. The park's location is just perfect for large events due to its central location with tons of parking to the west of Andrews. For really large events, I recommend to park even further west, past the bars, so you don't have to wait in traffic after your event. Even though I have never actually been to the park for any other reason, I do feel that HP has a special place in my heart since I am usually so desperate to see it as my finish line! For those of you lazy runners like myself, you'll be happy to know that there's a giant skyscraper right next door, to fixate on as you run your little heart out. The park itself is set right along the river and you can walk over behind the stage area and get some lovely river views. HP also connects to the Riverwalk on the north side of the river. Definitely take time for a stroll there and back. As the Sun is rising you can get some great photos!
