"Located in the heart of Whalers Village on Kāʻanapali Beach, Hula Grill is a busy hangout with live music seven days a week. You can sit for a meal in the open-air dining room, but the real party happens at the restaurant’s Barefoot Bar, right on the water’s edge. Kick off your shoes and sink your feet in the sand, then order a Barefoot Brew (made specially for the bar by Maui Brewing Co.) or cocktails like piña coladas, mojitos, and Maui Mules with organic vodka. Also on offer are a range of non-alcoholic drinks, from house-made sodas and fresh-squeezed juices to local kombucha and pure coconut water, as well as a solid food menu that highlights Hawaiian farmers and fishers. For a great deal, head here for Aloha Hour, which takes place daily from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and includes special prices on pupus and drinks."

14 Best Bars in Maui: Our Favorite Spots for Drinking Any Time of Day | Condé Nast Traveler

"The Barefoot Bar, adjacent to the Hula Grill, is exactly how it sounds: thatched-roof umbrellas, sand beneath your toes, guy strumming a guitar, Mai Tais all around. Vibes are fun and mellow, and there's a small, solid menu of island-inspired cocktails—the Maui Mule, made with local vodka, ginger beer, and Upcountry mint, is excellent—and six local beers. During Aloha Hour (2:30 to 5pm daily), house cocktails cost $7 and local drafts cost $5." - Kris Fordham

We had an amazing time at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, but the sunset view was the cherry on top. If you can make it towards the end of the day, you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking view. Highly recommend!

I will be visiting here again. Incredible food. Great service our waiter Ricky was incredible. Could not have asked for a better experience. The firecracker fish had a perfect 5 on spiciness and was very tender. The fish tacos equally as tender as well as incredibly juicy and a great pair of tomato tortilla and mahi. Loved the hula cake, perfect for 6. ** Beware the lunch doesn’t start till 2 **

All the things! Great service! Great food! Great atmosphere! My husband and I order the seafood platter for an app, and it was amazing! For our entrees we ordered the tomahawk special and the mushroom raviolis. Both were 10/10. Service was spot on the entire time. Cocktails were on point. Parking was validated. Would HIGHLY recommend!

Google
Overall, the food was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. The Ribeye was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the Au Jus sauce complemented it well, and the mashed potatoes were to die for. My wife’s seared ahi was cooked well, it just needed a bit more seasoning or a dipping sauce. The noodles were flavorful and tender; perfect for the fish to sit atop. Our Mai Tai and Lemonade Rum Slushie were okay, but there was too much coconut in the Mai Tai and not enough rum in the Slushie. Overall, we had a great experience, there were just a few shortcomings that kept this from being a 5-star review.

Gorgeous ocean view, we loved the fish tacos-- Marlin with a wonderful grilled flavor. Definitely will come back before we leave. Awesome service! Very fast and attentive. Came back for dinner... OMG! Great Bartender. The coconut risotto is amazing!!

Google
We enjoyed our lunch at Hula Grill after strolling through Whalers a bit. The location is awesome as it’s an ocean view. The menu had plenty of choices and the prices were fair, inline with other establishments on the island. I had the fruit salad which was refreshing along with a side of fresh grilled fish, a very welcome change of pace after so many heavy meals. My husband had the fish and chips which he said were good, not the best he had had but good. Our waitress with sweet and accommodating.

LAST NIGHT’S RICE AIN’T NICE We went for Father’s Day brunch and had pretty great service. Enjoyed the live music and most of our food was good. We were not amused at being served stale rice that was obviously leftover from last night’s supper service. Do better HG!

Google
Great service and the food was decent. The view and service make up for the food. The fish tacos were good but on the small plate size (2 tacos vs. the normal 3 tacos I’m used to seeing). Drinks were great and the waiter was very accommodating. Live music at lunch was very nice and not too loud. The view is amazing!!!

Yelp
Have been coming to the Hula Gril for over 25 year's. New Years standing reservation. Every time we come to this fantastic restaurant, it feels like we are coming home. From Steve, the Service manager, Montana the BEST food server on the island and to everyone else, the staff here is amazing. And the food is phenomenal! If you are looking for a wonderful dining experience in Kaanapali, look no further. See you in less than a year! ALOHA! GZ and family!

Yelp
Restaurant on the beach??? Why nott!! This place was super fun to come to! It was our first restaurant in Hawaii and I gotta say we started off with a bang. The service was amazing. We sat down and our server came over immediately. She was so kind and helpful. Walked us through the menu and gave us her favorites and specials for the day. Cannot recommend enough TO GET THE POKE TACOS as an app. They were unbelievable!! I got the mahi mahi and it was definitely the best entree out of the 4 of us. The ribeye was just okay, it tasted a bit off.

Yelp
Hula Grill is a favorite for vacationers from all over the world. Their consistency speaks to that. At Kanaapali, the location could not be better! Right in the beach and overlooking Molokai and it's perfect at sunset. Always a great time when I dine here or in Waikiki! Excellent service and food. When in Maui, come here!

Yelp
I was in town for a wedding so decided to treat myself to Hula Grill as the wedding fell on my bday weekend. Plus I've always like the vibe of the restaurant. (Note: Reservation is a must during peak season) The staff was friendly as usual, but the plates were a little lacking for the price. I got the Macnut crusted mahi mahi per usual and subbed the rice for mashed potato's. Fish was great and the mashed potato's were meh, but I left thinking $51 was a bit steep. I get it, inflation, but still felt a bit much for what you get. Maybe they could add some veggies to the plate? All in all staff is friendly, but not sure I got my moneys worth.

Yelp
They offer two seating options, and the casual seating is great. We went during sunset, and the vibe was perfect with a live band playing and the beautiful beachside view. The hula pie was good, but the vegetarian food was disappointing--limited options, average taste, and pricey for what it was. Go for the ambiance and sunset, but maybe not for the vegetarian menu.

Yelp
Good food at a fair price. The fresh fish is the way to go. I love mine cooked over the Hawaii equivalent of mesquite but so much more mild. Flaky and delicious. The happy hour was delicious. The potstickers hit the spot. From the host at entry to the table service all was excellent. Our meals came quickly and were absolutely delicious. The vibe was total island style which made for a fantastic experience. Looking forward to dining here again next time we're here.

Yelp
Not as good as I remembered, and not necessarily a place I need to go next visit. But definitely still four stars for different reasons. First, it can be very hectic and noisy here, lots of families, Hundreds of diners. We came at 8 o'clock so families started to leave and it got quieter which was nice. Still a nice setting with a great ocean breeze and the sound of the waves even if it's very busy and noisy. The chili dipping sauce that came with the bruschetta was not as good as I remembered, and I thought that the hibiscus drink was good but not as great as last time. But we still had a very nice, and in fact lovely, dinner, thanks to our server Eduardo, the ambience when it got quieter, and then the food choices! The localicious salad, while not quite as good as I remembered, was still tasty, fresh and healthy. And they really have farm to table sides that make it more vegetarian and vegan friendly than a lot of restaurants in these parts. I turned two sides from local farmers (beets with macadamia nuts and garlic spinach) into an entree by adding jasmine rice. Also we needed takeout for two folks who didn't come to dinner. Eduardo timed it perfectly for them to be made as our courses came to stay fresh. So still super service, good veg choices and not the same exact food as everywhere, in a pretty setting. That (& other reasons) are why the crowds come. Thanks, Eduardo!

Yelp
I had heard so much about Hula Grill before my Maui trip, and I was excited to try it, so I made a reservation in advance. However, I didn't realize that Hula Grill actually has two separate dining areas--one is a semi-fine dining restaurant, and the other is a more casual Barefoot Bar. I also didn't know that the Barefoot Bar doesn't require reservations, and it has a completely different menu. So, when we arrived, we found ourselves at the restaurant for drinks and appetizers before moving on to the more laid-back Barefoot Bar for a different vibe. At the restaurant, we decided to start with a couple of appetizers: the Lobster, Shrimp & Scallop Potstickers and the Housemade Focaccia. The potstickers had a distinct flavor that I didn't particularly enjoy--there was something about the combination of seafood and seasoning that didn't sit well with my palate. However, my husband thought they were delicious, so it was just a matter of personal taste. The Housemade Focaccia, on the other hand, was quite good--soft, flavorful, and served with a tasty dipping oil and sauce. We also had a hibiscus cocktail, whose name escapes me now, but it was fantastic--refreshing, vibrant, and perfectly balanced. After our time at the restaurant, we headed over to the Barefoot Bar, which had a much more relaxed, lively atmosphere. There was a hula dancer performing, and live music was playing, making it a fun place to unwind. It felt like the perfect spot to relax by the beach with the sand under our feet. We decided to try the Hula Cheeseburger, which, while satisfying, wasn't anything extraordinary. It was a decent burger, but didn't quite live up to the excitement of the surroundings. All in all, Hula Grill offered a great mix of experiences. The restaurant provided a nice, more refined meal, while the Barefoot Bar delivered a fun, laid-back atmosphere perfect for enjoying drinks, music, and the beautiful beach. While the food didn't blow me away, the overall experience was definitely memorable, especially with the entertainment and beachside setting. It's a great place to relax and enjoy the Maui vibe.

Yelp
We sat at the bar and had a great experience. The coconut calamari was cooked perfectly, the salad was very fresh and crisp, the grilled fish tacos were excellent. Highly recommend taking in the sunset here!

Yelp
If you have one dessert in Kaanapali, have the Hula Pie at the Hula Grill. It is very popular and always brings a smile. Plus the live music in the evenings are a bonus and so beautiful . The location right across from the beach in Whalers Village is perfect and it's a quick walk to many of the local hotels .

Yelp
Hula Grill offered the most perfect dinner experience. We had an amazing table in the sand, right at sunset, with the perfect view of the beautiful mom/daughter hula performance. My table ordered burgers, fish tacos, and the wood grilled fish and there were zero leftovers. All the food was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious. Absolute must-visit!

Yelp
I had high hopes for the Hula Dance and live music event, but unfortunately, our experience didn't go as planned. The event details on the website were a bit unclear, which led to some confusion. We arrived and were told there was a 40-minute wait, which we were happy to accept. However, when we returned after an hour, it seemed the show had already finished, which was disappointing. The service was slower than expected, and despite asking, we didn't receive small plates for our appetizers. After multiple attempts to get assistance, we were handed the bill without much interaction and were surprised to be expected to leave a generous tip given the overall experience. On a positive note, the Akai Mai Tais were delicious, which is why I'm leaving two stars. I hope they can improve the clarity of their event details and the service for future guests.

Yelp
Pretty much everything went well on our dinner 'date'. It started by having a great seat outside near the front edge facing the beach, able to watch a beautiful sunset coming down over the water. The waitress was super nice and engaging. Attentive, quick, and friendly. And the food was yum! Basic drinks (hard pineapple cider and mai tai) went well with the pulled pork potstickers, called 'local style'. Very unique. Crab topped macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi was excellent. Well prepared. Not on the menu was the chef special short rib. So good! Resting in a bed of creamy mashed potatoes. Just when I thought we were about to explode from these sizable portions, the waitress gave us a complimentary hula pie to celebrate our anniversary! Man this was huge and we ended up eating the entire thing. They even have music and dancing performance. Great overall experience.

Yelp
I go for the amazing customer service. Although fun drinks always make for a good time. Plus everything l've tried on the menu is delicious. They also have one of my absolute favorite desserts on the island, the Hula Pie:)

Yelp
We visited the Hula Grill last week and I always wondered about this place. My father has been wearing a Hula Grill t-shirt for many years and last week, I finally got to visit the place. The vibe is very on point with feeling like your on an island somewhere. You can tell that they haven't changed alot since opening and that's what gives it the ambiance that it has. We've been drinking Mai Tai's the whole trip and the server said they have the best ones. I took that as a mission to be a coinesseur on it. The drink was served in a nice glass and the amount of alcohol was exceptional. I would have to say that this wasn't the best Mai Tai that I've had and MonkeyPod's next door was way better. The funny thing is Peter Merriman is the owner of both Hula Grill and MonkeyPods's. We decided to only have appetizers here as coincidentally we had dinner at Merriman's Maui that night, so we wanted to keep an appetite. We ordered the Hawaiian Ceviche, Fish Tacos, and the Hula Cheeseburger. The Hawaiian Ceviche was very tasty actually. Usually when you order ceviche, it doesn't have much fish and instead is filled with pico/ etc. The taste was savory and sour which is something I look for in a ceviche. I recommend. The Fish Tacos came with three tacos and the presentation was nicely done. The taste was actually really tasty and you could taste the grill on them. I recommend. The Hula Cheeseburger was my least favorite item and I know that it isn't a regular item to order on the beach. I am a person who is very picky with burgers and there's only a few places I order them (Hillstones). For sharing, they cut it into four pieces for us which made it easy. Overall, The vibe and location of Hula Grill is on point. It has that large feeling, but not too large that its too touristy. Next time, I will try other cocktails as I wasn't too impressed with the Mai Tai. The food was tasty, but for the price I expected a little bit better. My rating is a 6.5/10.

Yelp
10/10 for customer service and drinks. The food was also good. This place gets packed so we walked in and after purring our name on the list, we enjoyed the sunset at the beach. The food was made to order and came out fresh and was timely. We dressed up for the occasion but you can also come casual. I can't member the full name but the macadamia fish we had was good and pricey. I did compare it to dukes which I love so this was second place for me. We all loved the white chocolate dessert though!! The fish and chips were just ok in my opinion

Yelp
For Thanksgiving dinner we dined at Hula Grill and it was the best meal on Maui. Portions were generous and our server did a really good job. They had turkey on the menu as a special and my hubby said it was one of the best turkey plates he's ever eaten. The focaccia bread was complimentary - so good! We were given a kamaaina discount as well. Recommend!

Yelp
Average Ceviche was a 3/5 loved that they served it with the tarp chips bread was a 2/5 Food was ok. Got the macadamia nut crusted fish. It was a 3/5 super over cooked . Coconut rice was a 4/5 Kids teriyaki was a 2/5 Service was a 3/5 Place was ok. Outside seating was awful all we smelled was peoples ciggs/ people were smoking right in front of their outside seatings Ewh!

Yelp
Amazing location! The tasting menu was great! Portion size perfect for an early dinner

Yelp
Right on the beach in the Whalers Village Shopping Center on Maui. Good food and service. As a visual bonus, there was a white crane walking between the tables with, of course, a bunch of pigeons looking for dropped table scraps. When a scrap was found, the mad scramble for the morsel was chaotic. My wife and I both had their fish and chips which were served promptly and the malt vinegar added just the right nuance of flavor. A word of caution however, where we were seated only had sand underfoot and the transition from the solid floor to the sand was unexpected and I nearly fell from the solid to the sand floor. Otherwise a nice dining experience.

Yelp
WOW! New restaurant to add to our list for Maui. It had been years since my family & I have been but it had the shortest wait compared to other restaurants we frequently visit in Whalers Village. We had a great ocean view seat during sunset. Our serve gave us a great rundown of the menu as it had been a while since we had visited. She honestly informed us that they were out of Mahi and the new fish they would use (forgot the name of it but it was great nonetheless!). We had the lobster potstickers and poke tacos to start (comes with three but she kindly informed us we could add a fourth for the four of us eating). We had the crusted fish special (split into two plates)! All of our food was delicious & we will be back!

Yelp
Tatiana was absolutely phenomenal in her service and made the end of an exhausting day. Absolutely perfect. The food was fantastic. I highly recommend the mahi-mahi thank you for opening dinner to Maui in the beginning of a lovely time.

Yelp
My review is solely based on in my first experience trying The Original Hula Pie. My husband who vacationed here almost 20 years ago, could not stop talking about this amazing hula pie on the entire flight over. So obviously I had high expectations about this hula pie. First when we arrived there was already a long wait to get a table, so if you aren't coming in for dinner - the bar area is first come, first serve... which is what my husband and I did and therefore we were seated right away. After placing our order with the bartender my official Original Hula Pie experience was on its way. Within 5 minutes of ordering I had the Hula Pie in my possession. For those of you that don't know about this slice of heaven, it's basically ice cream nestled on what tasted like a homemade chocolate "Oreo-like" crust with light whip cream all over. After my first bite, I immediately knew why my husband couldn't stop talking about this Hula Pie. It's that delicious, it's so good we finished it within minutes!!! While I knew my blood sugar was high, for a moment I didn't care because the hyperglycemia from the hula pie was worth every bite. You have to make it a point to come and try this Original Hula Pie when you are in the area. This is a staple for everyone to try and the restaurant is right on the water so a huge plus is the beachy ambiance that has a beautiful beach view!

Yelp
There are so many places to eat here but this is on my go to list. The food is always great. The view is awesome, and the drinks might be good also . I usually go with the fish sandwich but you can't go wrong, never had a bad meal and very friendly staff.
google avatar

Frankie S.

Yelp
The food was good and the view is spectacular. The service was also outstanding, they were able to get us seated fairly quickly and servers were very attentive after that. Would recommend this place for anyone vacationing in this area, and looking for an island themed restaurant
google avatar

Yelp
The atmosphere of this restaurant is exactly what you want out of Hawaii! Sitting outside you get to put your feet in the sand, watch a hula girl and hear live island music. Our server was okay - we liked that she gave menu recommendations! The menu is pretty small, the food we got was good but would love if there were a few more options. Overall food 4/5 experience :)
google avatar

Yelp
Hula grill was our lunch stop after a morning at the pool! The burger was delicious and excellent and the fish and chips were great! The staff were quick and professional! I loved having my toes in the sand at the barefoot eating area! The restaurant and restrooms were clean and well decorated. I highly recommend hula grill for lunch!

Yelp
Cool place to go to at Whaler's Village. This was our second visit as we went there several years ago. Crowded most of the time. Service is great. Maddie was our server and did a wonderful job. I had the roasted chicken, which was good, not great. Chicken was a bit dry. Sweet potato mash was good. I had a side of wok charred spinach which was excellent. My wife had the Mahi Mahi topped with crab. She enjoyed it. We had nine folks in our group, and they all enjoyed their meal. You can't beat the ambiance. We were under an overhang, but it was all open, so we had a nice tropical breeze. The weather was perfect. I like that they have live music. The one downside is I spent a ton of money at the shops at Whaler's Village to and from dinner!

Yelp
A bit of an awkward entrance, our reservation was at 10am we showed up at 9:55am and they awkwardly talked across the staff meeting to go wait in line. I understand not seating till 10 but a sign at the many entrances would be better than talking across the staff meeting at your guests. There are a few areas you can walk into this restaurant so we had no idea we had to go to the entrance by whalers. Our waiter was pleasant and quick. He got us what we needed and was kind. The musician had a beautiful voice, but was live streaming as he performed so he would talk to his tik tok in between lines of the song. It made it a little awkward in the front row of tables. Maybe if we sat further back and couldn't hear it would have been fine. They could use fans around as there's a ton of flies that get you when you sit on the sand area. The food isn't anything to rave about. As one of the only breakfast places in kaanapali I was excited for a good brunch. The crab wontons were the best part of our breakfast and those were just ok. The truffle potatoes have good potential but tasted a little odd like the oil or gas from the grill. The calamari is good, nothing super special. The portions are large so good for sharing. Overall we probably won't be back but if you want a quick bite it's fast service and a pretty view.

Yelp
We snagged a last-minute reservation here on a busy summer night. We were seated almost immediately, and at a great table facing the ocean! Our family of 4 got hungry right on the border of happy hour and early dinner, and decided to go to Hula Grill because of their special Chef's Tasting menu and good vegetarian options - we enjoyed both! Dining out in Maui is so pricey, and the reasonably priced menu allowed us to try an appetizer and entree without breaking the bank. It was also great for my indecisive little one. (Do note: Prix Fixe menu is only offered during early dinner service, so verify the time if you're interested; when we went it was 4:30-5:15). If you're looking for a refreshing cocktail, the Hibiscus Hu'a was so good we ordered another round. One of my kids thought it looked so good we ordered him a virgin version - he didn't like it, it didn't seem like the hibiscus syrup was sweetened at all. But - our attentive server, Montana, was so kind to have it made for our son special, and then replace it another drink when Montana noticed it was still full! Overall, we had a great evening with excellent service, delicious food, and a memorable view. Highly recommend! Make sure to leave room for Kimo's famous Hula Pie!

Yelp
I don't want to leave 3 stars because it was not too bad, BUT nothing impressed me but their server Tatiana! She was very fun person to talk to, gave us some suggestions on drinks and food ! Cons ! We came little earlier but was never sitted until our reservations time ( there was plenty of empty tables) , no one ever recognized our special occasion, food was just ok . So you can thank you server for 4 stars. Thanks!

Yelp
The focaccia was so good we almost got TWO! Jason was our server and he did a wonderful job. He was personable and professional. We did the taster menu which was available from 4:30-5:15, and it was $34 for an appetizer and entree. In general everything was very well made and flavorful. The fish in general was a little dry, but not fishy at all. The special was very good, had a little too much of the chile sauce. The view was absolutely stunning, music was not too loud, and the tables were nice natural wood. Highly recommend Hula Grill!
google avatar

Becca H.

Yelp
Changing this to five stars based on our most recent visit. Mostly because of the FOCACCIA BREAD. This bread service changed my life. The bread itself would be delightful on its own. It's full of flavor and so soft. But then they have you mix olive oil and their chili water for dipping and it's heavenly. We got two orders. Our table was right on the edge of the dining area closest to the ocean, in the barefoot bar which if you don't know is a completely sandy area so you can dig your toes in while you enjoy dinner. It's an amazing place to spend the sunset hours. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. Weirdly this place has Coke products when the partner restaurant across the way doesn't. For entree I got the fish tacos and they were just okay. It says it has a jalapeño aioli and chipotle salsa so to me that implies spice and they were pretty bland. My husband got the pork shank which he loved and which LOOKED amazing. He said the risotto was heavy on the saffron and light on the coconut flavor. My mom had the flatbread with the thai chili sauce on it so obviously it was tasty. Gonna be dreaming about the bread service until our next visit.

Yelp
During our vacation the Hula Grill was always busy. We made reservations for 8:15pm on a Saturday night. The food and service impressed us. We had drinks, appetizers, entres and desert. We experience the full menu on this visit and came away impressed. I recommend calling ahead of time or booking a reservation ahead of time as the wait times can be over an hour. We reserved a table through the open table app ambience was nice and hard to beat the location and views.
google avatar

Lynn N.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday evening, and were immediately seated! We were placed in a sanded area, but had front row seats to live music. Our server came fifteen minutes after to get our drinks and orders: crab wonton, macadamia crusted mahi mahi, and grilled ahi steak. The food was all a 10/10! The crab wontons were so creamy and crispy. It had just the right amount of filling to wrapper ratio. The pairing sauce was wasabi, and honestly, we preferred the crab wontons as is. The macadamia crusted fish was my personal favorite. It was light, yet crispy. The mango sauce tied the fish with the rice so well and I had such good bites. My partner really liked his ahi steak! It was grilled to perfection and had a nice stir fried noodle to complement the smokiness. The night maybe was busy, but our service interactions were limited. I feel like service was lacking a bit, but the food was outstanding.

Yelp
The food, starting with the Mai Tai's, are a warm welcome into Maui. The food was delicious, hearty and filling. Jason was great, so fun and knowledgeable of the area- super passionate. Benjamin was hitting us with all of the classic songs you just want to sing along to, but in a lowkey tone- setting the best vibe. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I've always loved Hula Grill, but It just seems to have gone downhill in the last few years. It used to be one of our favorites. I had always loved the fish sandwich; it was so good! But I went on a Saturday at noon hoping to get said sandwich only to find out they only do brunch on the weekends - until 2:00. I don't understand how my macadamia nut encrusted pineapple buerre blanc Mahi mahi topped with crab and rice on the side was considered brunch, but not the fish sandwich. The ambiance and service was great. The meal was a very small portion and there was just a tiny amount of crab on top. I'm not eager to go back....except maybe to enjoy a Pina Colada at the bar.

Yelp
You just can't beat a restaurant with an ocean view. We stopped in for just cocktails and to share a dessert. The server was very nice but seemed a little overwhelmed with using technology for placing the order and having us pay our bill. We split the Hula Pie and still couldn't eat it all between us! It was very good but HUGE! The dessert was definitely the star of the show so I can't recall what cocktails we ordered but I do know they were good as well.

Yelp
Yum! Great location on the beach. People watch, enjoy the sailboats, the ocean sounds and the outdoors. Full covered dining room, covered patios along with shades over the tables. Service is great. Friendly staff, our waiter k ew his stuff. Was able to explain the options on menu, the flavors and the favorites people enjoy. Super casual or dressed for the evening, you'll fit right in. Live music throughout the day adds that special touch. Tacos and Pork we had were the best on island. Stop by, enjoy the atmosphere, food a d staff. You'll have a great time and walk away full.

Yelp
We ate at Hula a few times since it was close to our hotel and I'd give it two thumbs up. You can sit outside with your toes in the sand and enjoy live music (and hula!) or grab a seat at the shaded bar. All the food we tried was solid (amazing potstickers) but the Hula Pie is incredible. It's huge and delicious, yet light. Drinks are well crafted and our service was friendly. Prices are what you expect for a beachside resort location.

Yelp
The location of this restaurant is great as it's in Whaler's Village and is also right by the water so you get a view. The tables are in a sand/gravel combo which makes it a bit more difficult to get to your table depending on your shoes. Once seated, our server came over to start with drink ordered. Our server did misunderstand what my friend's name was and he latched on to that and kept calling him the wrong name and telling stories about his friend with that name. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a word in to correct him and it just became and annoying part of brunch. Once it was time to order, I tried to order a salad and have the cilantro removed but they said it wasn't possible. Additionally some of the other menu items couldn't be adjusted either so I just settled on the fruit platter which was luckily fresh and had good presentation. Our group all thought the food was OK (definitely not great). All in all, it was nice to try once but I wouldn't plan to go back.

Yelp
I've been visiting Hula Grill for lunch and dinner whenever Im in Kaanapali since I was 9 years old. I absolutely love this place! It's a nostalgic place for me and now my kids love this place just as much as I do. We love sitting outside at sunset time especially! Their Lava Flow is the best here in my opinion. And we always order fish here and it's always good! The service here is wonderful every time, everyone is kind! Get a reservation ahead of time if you can. Thanks Hula Grill for staying the same amazing place even after all the Covid craziness!

Yelp
Awesome service, view and food! We highly recommend! The $34 special from 4:30-5:15 was exceptional. We had the Macadamian Crust Ono and Wood-Fired Ono. One of the top places to eat in west Maui.

Yelp
I want to leave this review to express my gratitude to our waiter, Koa, who was not only professional but also showed us special attention. He not only resolved the issue with a disappointing dish but also made sure we returned to the restaurant two more times during our stay. We visited the restaurant three times and tried several dishes, most of which were truly wonderful. The dessert that impressed us the most was the macadamia ice cream, Hula Pie.must try!

Yelp
We took the trolly over to Whalers Village looking for a few cocktails, live music and a view of the ocean. We found everything we were looking for at Hula Grill. Our waiter was attentive, very friendly and didn't mind that we just wanted a few cocktails without ordering food. There was no wait when we arrived at about 2:30pm, and we were seated quickly in the Barefoot Bar area and it was perfect. We definitely recommend a visit here. Cheers!

Yelp
This place isn't bad! The service was actually phenomenal especially considered how busy it is. Our waiter was fantastic, helpful, and kind. Walking by the kitchen, one is blow away by how much food they produce and get out to hungry customers. We had a table of 9 and they were able to accommodate us via same day reservations. Kids ordered kids meals and were pleased. Adults ordered the macadamia crusted fish from the chefs tasting menu (available until 5:15) along with an appetizer. Most got the potstickers and were thrilled. I got the salad and was also thrilled. The fish was not bad! I think I was unimpressed by the toughness of it (which we were warned about) and for the price was simply expecting more. That said, I am a fish snob and everyone else at the table kept calling it phenomenal. Maybe mine had sat longer to be served than everyone else's? Hard to say but over all would recommend for a good Hawaiian style meal with great views.

Yelp
In the bustling Whaler's village you can find this place packed for lunch and dinner, especially their famous barefoot bar. We dined in the main restaurant and unfortunately did not have the best experience. We tried both Mahi Mahi dishes and were disappointed by the rubbery texture and bland taste. Additionally, our server went missing for almost 40 minutes during our main entree so we weren't able to share our thoughts and work with them for a resolution. When he eventually came around, he apologized, but by then we no longer wanted anything different.

Yelp
You can't get a better view than this! We were sitting pretty much right on the beach! The waiter was very helpful. The fish we had was delicious. Prices were reasonable.

Yelp
We ate here for an early dinner at the barefoot bar. The view of the beach was nice. James was our server and he was super friendly! He was also very attentive and gave us some good suggestions. We got the burger, ceviche, Caesar salad and the hula pie. All were very good. The ceviche with the taro chips was my favorite! Super good and fresh. The mai tais were tasty too!
