Hulhule Island Hotel

We did not stay at Hulhule but if we come back again we will stay here. Due to weather and flight delays coming in from a further atoll we missed our international flight. We stayed elsewhere after our travel agent kindly made arrangements for us, but we wanted to be close to the airport for our re-booked (1:15 AM) flight tonight. So we came here for dinner and I Tia also the only place near the airport where you can order wine or other alcohol due to local restrictions. After an amazing vacation but a very stressful day of travel and trying to rebook our flights following the New Year’s holiday weekend, a glass of wine was a very welcome sight. ||As we waited in the lobby for the shuttle for the very short ride back to the airport, an adorable kitty walked into the lobby. Turns out she’s the local kitty and is well-lived and well taken care of. Mary at the front desk was so kind to us and to Lila (the kitty). We were very impressed. ||Dinner at the restaurant was very good and the service was good as well. Definitely recommend this hotel for accommodations close to the airport (you could walk if you needed to) and for access to adult beverages if that interests you. The weather was too awful to appreciate the grounds or the beach, but the rest was great!

Great hotel conveniently located right next to the airport. A shuttle service is offered if you don't want to walk. The room was spotlessly clean with lovely linen and a huge bathroom with a shower and a bath. Room service was quick and the food was delicious. The buffet breakfast was excellent.

Hulu Hule is a convenient airport hotel located on Male Capital Island, affectionately known as HIH, offering a no-frills experience for travellers looking for a quick drink. Whether you like it or not, Hulu is the go-to spot for entertaining business associates in the area. So why not make the most of your time in Male and stop by Hulu for a drink or two?

We did not stay the night but used the HulHule to spend the day during our 12 hour transit. Location couldn't be better, literally a stone's throw from the airport which you can choose to walk, or rely on their transfer service. It was wasn't cheap at USD96 for use of the pool/shower facilities with lunch + a drink and luggage storage but given our transit timing and the location, it is what it is. A room was going for USD 299++ with later check in times which kind of defeated getting a room for the day. Find a nice shady spot at the furthest corner of the pool under some trees if you're going to spend most of the daytime here, else be roasted the sun. Pool was nice, food was decent but everything was expensive (a bottle of water was USD7!). There's a tiny stretch of beach and an area to swim in the sea/snorkel if you're so inclined to break up the boredom. We showered then headed to the Champs bar for some a/c and to grab dinner (same menu as the poolside bar/restaurant), then caught their airport shuttle to the airport for our connecting flight. I wouldn't stay here if you're a light sleeper as the sound of planes and helicopters was pretty much constant the entire day we sat by the pool

You can actually snorkel on the private beach if you have your own snorkel 🤿 and you can see coral and fish it's really nice!|I had the best room with beach access and a bathtub 🛁 so close to the airport and free shuttle as well. Friendly staff - special thanks to Salem (room service), Laisha (reception) and Prakash (chef at breakfast) for being so friendly and helpful! Good breakfast and nice fish curry for dinner, try the pina colada !

We stayed at the Hulhule Island Hotel as a layover stop before our flight, and while its proximity to the airport and convenient shuttle service were definite perks, the overall experience left much to be desired.||||The rooms were quite dated, with furnishings and décor that felt more functional than inviting. Unfortunately, the loud hallways were a real issue—doors banging and people coming and going at all hours made it hard to get a restful sleep. For a hotel catering to travellers, better soundproofing would go a long way.||||The buffet food was also underwhelming—definitely not worth the hefty price tag. Considering the dated facilities and lackluster dining options, the hotel felt significantly overpriced for what it offers ($36 USD per person!). Breakfest buffet was better and included in the overnight stay.||||One notable aspect is that this is the only hotel in Malé that serves alcohol, which might be a draw for some. The bar area is decent for relaxing with a drink, but it doesn’t compensate for the other shortcomings.||||Overall, this hotel is best suited as a brief stopover for its convenient location near the airport. If you’re looking for comfort, value, or a quiet, restful stay, you might want to look elsewhere. For us, it served its purpose, but we wouldn’t return unless absolutely necessary.
