The hotel provided complimentary airport shuttle service for my flight out of Male the next day. Safuan, the staff who checked me in and out of the hotel was very courteous, kind and friendly. He gave me a room that is one of the most affordable ones that is near the restaurant, since I told him during check in that I was physically injured. I commend Safuan for his thoughtfulness. He embodies how hotel staff should be. Also the bellhop who brought me to the room was the same way.
Hotel is a bit old, need to renovate. The other staff, Mary, on the other hand, during the first time we talked over the phone, and when she discovered I came from the same country as her, immediately concluded that I am a relative of corrupt government officials from my country. I am not, you can tell by the way I am dressed and how my luggage looks. She made incorrect assumptions. Then she tries to cover this up by pestering me with calls over the phone and messages over whatsapp during the entire stay. A two-faced and phony person in my assessment. This is not my idea of getting rest when I was physically injured and had to get back home for medical treatment. I am tired and in pain when I checked in at the hotel - I went up the wrong way and had to carry my heavy luggage towards the lobby from the seafront with an injured leg since I rolled my luggage from the airport to the hotel. Mary needs re-training on how to treat guests. The hotel's ranking got pulled down because of Mary's behavior. My countrymen are not like her. She is the exact opposite of what Filipinos are.
