My husband and I recently stayed at Schweitzer for our anniversary weekend, and while we enjoyed the property and everything else about our stay, our check-in experience was absolutely terrible and left a really sour first impression.
When I arrived, I simply asked about the possibility of an early check-in. The man at the front desk, Kelly, barely acknowledged me and told me he was working on something and I’d need to wait. I patiently did so. When I asked again, hoping for a 2:00 check-in (knowing regular check-in was at 4:00), he cut me off and repeated, “Check-in is at 4:00,” with zero friendliness or effort to help. He said he could maybe call me if housekeeping cleared something, but it was clear he couldn’t be bothered and was completely dismissive. He just stared at me like I was inconveniencing him.
I was shocked by how rude and unprofessional he was—especially being the first face guests see upon arrival. I told him I felt he was being rude, and he responded by calling me a jerk. That kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially at a place like Schweitzer where guests are paying good money to relax and celebrate special occasions.
Schweitzer, you can do better—especially with the person you have welcoming guests.
