Humblebee Coffee

Came across this gem as part of my side quests for solid coffee shops for my travel destinations (Perth day 2). I got the pour over twice - the first one was to enjoy with the almond croissant - the second, was to enjoy the coffee purely by itself. Both experiences were solid. The baristas also had a good camaraderie among each other which definitely made you feel welcomed. Because I had tried leeway coffee the day before and they were family - I had to ask if these folks were also family too and it being a family-run business - to my dismay they weren’t but that’s fine. A solid coffee shop to recommend if you’re in Perth!

Coffee was good but would have liked it a little stronger, I really enjoyed the hochija latte and chocolate donuts. The chocolate filled donuts were salty and sweet while I could really taste the hochija in the lattes. The atmosphere was very nice with great friendly customer service. Be sure to come early on weekends because parking becomes busy.

The coffee is excellent but it's the little touches that make this place great. I asked for some sparkling water with my espresso and they gave me some on the side. Tasting profile card with the single origin, staff are so friendly and service with a smile. Cheers guys, found my new local.

This cafe is a small cafe, but full of specialty coffee. They have a coffee roasting plant inside the cafe. I ordered a cold brew and an origin single espresso shot. Their coffee tastes very good, clean, sweet and has a distinct fruity aroma , coffee flavors are unique. The barista is lovely,friendly and makes great coffee. I would like you all to come and try this place once in your life.

The baristas are super lovely and create a nice vibe in this cute, cozy cafe! Coffee is very tasty and definitely worth a visit. Bonus: being able to see what’s going on behind the scenes in the roastery while enjoying your drink!

Humblebee is a great little cafe located in the heart of Mount Hawthorn. It's cozy without being too small. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back and the staff are lovely. And the coffee is smooth and fresh. Plus, you can watch it being roasted through a large window inside, which is a nice touch. The mini-donuts are a great accompaniment to the coffee. You can even buy Humblebee t-shirts that feature a bumblebee making coffee! They're a hoot (or perhaps that should be a buzz!). It's great on a summer's day. There's outside seating and you'll often see families and people with their dogs enjoying the sunshine. Check it out. You won't be disappointed. PS: This is an update to my previous review of Humblebee. I wanted to provide a more comprehensive review that also has photos! As I am currently laid up with a knee injury, I decided to make the most of my free time on a Saturday morning. So, I headed over to Humblebee to continue reading ‘The Lifecycle of the Common Octopus’ (for those wondering - yes that’s really the title and no it’s not about an octopus! 😉). But seriously, it’s Emma Knight’s debut novel and it’s a great read. Humblebee is somewhat of a hidden gem. I say that because even though it has a solid customer base and is popular, it also has a strong sense of what it is. Plus, it doesn’t try too hard. This means it achieves a great balance between being community minded, while also being a successful business. The venue has great character too. This is created by a few different aspects. For starters, there’s the wood floors, along with other wood paneling featuring different brightly coloured wood planks. There are also a few plants that make for a relaxed atmosphere. Throw in some cool chairs and funky lights and it all comes together to create a great vibe. Serious coffee aficionados will be able to peruse a series of coffee books and magazines while consuming their beverage of choice. Others can sit back and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. As always, the staff are fun and friendly, and they really care about their coffee. It shows in the way they carry themselves and in their positive attitude to customers. That they roast their own beans on site also shows their commitment to their craft. Today, I had a plain croissant, which was light and fluffy and the perfect accompaniment to my cappuccino. The coffee was great too – rich, smooth and tasty - the way I like it. I’ve also had the ham and cheese croissant on a previous visit. That was really good as well. Plus, Humblebee is family and dog friendly, which is really nice. It’s a great place to visit on a Saturday morning, as you get a really good mix of people and their dogs hanging out, drinking coffee (the people that is ;-) and enjoying their day. It’s great during the week too. I love this place and would recommend it to anyone.

Nice coffee. I regret I have ordered regular coffee. I will order large one next time. Tiny nice place but not for enjoying dessert.

Good coffee. Just off busy Scarborough Beach Road and the roastery is a nice look. Good amongst a plethora of choices.

Our local coffee spot. These guys are the real deal. They roast their own coffee and do not kid around. The hole in the wall spot is almost a best kept secret, but locals love it. This is a destination for coffee lovers. Serious coffee lovers. The cups are small, the coffee is made to perfection and the guys working here are legends. If you are a honest to goodness coffee lover you will have no troubles with their real approach to coffee. Please note: If you have developed your coffee tastes from instant coffee or the chain-brand mall coffee houses with orders that include soy, latte's, shots of syrup, decaf or you have ever ordered a macchiato topped up, you should just not drink here. Don't even bother. You will be confused and not at all happy. These guys make black or white coffees. None of that other stuff. They offer: Black or white coffee, batch brews, filter brews, iced Aeropress coffee, and Iced Espresso tonics. Basically they do not complicate the flavours of the coffee, which they take pride in roasting. Besides the coffee, these guys offer plain or chocolate croissants, custard and raisin escargot and filled donut holes. The donut holes are offered in apple, salted caramel, chocolate and red fruits. These are all fresh and not too sweet. Seating is limited, there is a long bench inside which looks into the roasting studio, a few small tables for two and an outside table and bench for small groups. All the furnishings are locally made from recycled timber. Public sessions of cupping are offered on Tuesday's if anyone is keen to learn more about the roasting process.

One of my regular haunts! Zak and the girls do a great job serving Humblebee's in house roasts each day. They also bake in house some pastries to accompany your coffee. Always willing to start a pourover or espresso regardless of what time of the day certainly helps with my start to the mornings. Some are worried that because they do not serve skim, soy or decaf that they are a bit snotty. This is certainly not the case, although if you are chasing these items or tea you certainly are chasing up the wrong tree. They have just installed a larger roaster so watch out for their roasts elsewhere around town soon!

It isn't coffee if it is full of hot-shot, fancy adjectives and preservatives like a low-fat caramel macchiato no foam. I mean what even is that and what the hell would it taste like!? Humblebee's offers simple, honest, uncomplicated coffee. I liked the simple set up and wood interior, however the tables are a big awkward and not well suited to groups bigger than 3. The large roasting machinery is eye catching and reminds me that I'm supporting a local business. Perhaps slightly presumptuous with no skim, soy or decaf milk options, but maybe we should all get back to basics once in awhile. My coffee was picture perfect, drinking temperature, and a dream to sip. If only they had bigger cups!

Simple coffee. Why complicate things? Dropped by this morning for a good coffee and croissant.The perfect combination. Wish they would open in Sundays!!!! Humble as it comes, modern deco and definitely a place for a nice casual chat I you have the time. Gotta go try it for yourself-- if you are after soy/ skinny milk-- they do not serve this. Love this little hiding spot!

Love this place, it's cute and has amazing coffee. I do my shopping at the Mezz and love popping here for a coffee at a good price. The coffee is made to perfection simple yet made well so very delicious. Staff are friendly and always greets you with a smile. They also have beautiful donut balls I haven't tried as yet but my sister says it's great! Best coffee in Perth in a cool suburb :)

This is a five out of five for coffee. These people know their stuff. It was a warm day, which made the cold drip coffee a supercharged way to refresh. Being coffee connessiours they have a certain way of doing things, which can upset people. But hey, they are the pros. It's a little place with limited food. It really does specialise in coffee. You can enjoy it out the front of the crates. Yes, crates (will this craze end). Very limited street parking in front but there are some options nearby.

I met some friends here on a Saturday as a change from the usual, busier Leederville cafes. I'm so glad we did! The coffee was fresh - roasted and ground on premise and tasted great. The staff are friendly and the cafe casual and unpretentious. A welcome addition to Mt Hawthorn, just down the alleyway from the Mezz. Now if only they were open Sundays :)

In all honesty I do not venture to the burbs (even the inner ones) for coffee to often, but with so many Yelpers declaring their love for HB I simply could not ignore this any longer!!! And I was very glad I did not only did I accidentally come across some of my fellow Yelpers and had a great informal catchup I was able to try a couple of different coffees and snack on one of the infamous donuts - quite simply everything lived up to the hype and justified the trip.

I had to come back to this place the day after my first visit to make sure the first time wasn't a fluke. The coffee these guys and girls serve is amazing. I should have known prior by the huge hipster beard that I was confronted with upon entry and the minimalist signage. Humble Bee is a no soy, no decaf (gag), no bulls%€t coffee lovers paradise. Love the fact that they open quite early (half six). The half hour makes a difference for a lot of people. The interior is quite small. Fine if you are alone or with one or two others max. Forget it for groups larger than that. Did I mention the coffee is amazing?

There's a new joint in town. And when they call it a "coffee shop", that's just what they mean. Simply serving their own label, roasted on the premises, Humblebee is the new kid on the block giving others a run for their money. To accompany your great coffee, served the way it should be (no soy, no skim, no fuss, no mess) you can pick up a tasty fresh pastry. Sounds (and feels) like the perfect chill out zone for me: great coffee, a pastry if I am feeling wicked and the daily newspaper. All in a relaxed location that has been attractively and thoughtfully decorated. Get yourselves down there and giddy up your day!

One of the best coffees I've had in Perth. My taste-buds were doing an enjoyable and leisurly back-stroke through the creamy coffee in my mouth. Didn't get a chance to stay long and enjoy the cool fit-out or any food as Boris was barking loudly out the front, but I will be back!

Meh, lot of rave about this joint but not great in my view. Takeaway cups are tiny (only one size... why?). Best to nip around the corner to leaf & bean...

This place just keeps getting better. Zac is roasting some amazing single origin batches & everyone here is a top barista. This is a great 'local' & the highlight of Mt Hawthorn

The coffee is some of the best I have had in Perth. Although the tables are not suited for large groups to gather round if you are looking for a place to have a quiet cup and read the paper that's there then this is the spot The fit out of the shop is well designed with a large glass wall allowing you to view the grinder, roaster, and sacks of coffee. As one small child who was there with his parents on my last visit described the coffee roaster looking like a steam engine train with a face. Stare hard and think even harder about Thomas the tank engine and wow the kid is right. The apricot Danish was delicious and the Shakerato was certainly a new take on coffee I had not experienced before but I did enjoy it

Best and most affordable coffee! I was taken here after a lovely morning walking the local neighbourhood with a friend and honestly what better way to start the day. The coffee, just the right amount of kick and made to perfection, paired with freshly baked croissants. I'll definately be making this my new local coffee shop

Yep I'm here again :) best coffee in Perth. Staff and owner are so friendly. Try the donuts! Outdoor seating so able to bring the dog!

This is the best coffee joint in town! So simple small and amazing! Coffee is always good I recommend the filterbrew and the aeropress if you like yours black!

For someone who loves her soy, skinny, chai, and flavoured coffee options, this is one of the few places where I enjoy just a traditional coffee. It doesn't leave that strong aftertaste and bad breath that I feel like I get from most ordinary coffees. I found the service to be fine, the only reason I'm dropping a star is that I ordered a regular size and it's pretty small. Will definitely return though

We went there on a sat morning and coffee was great. We sat outside and read the papers. A nice place to start the day.

Seems a little pretentious as they only sell coffee black or with full cream milk. There is no option for skim, sir or decaf and there is no tea. Therefore, for me, there is no sale.

Sensational coffee - the Coogee St blend is a thick, delicious blend; well rounded in flavour and very enjoyable with just a touch of milk. Friendly staff with a few treats to start your week. One for the coffee snob 'to-do' list.

Nice vibe great coffee, location is off beat which makes it cool place to visit. It's a bit low on the options on something to eat.

You won't find a better coffee shop in Mount Hawthorn and one of the best in Perth. Simple, coffee comes in 3oz with milk, or 5oz with milk and they also have espresso and a small selection of pastries. No fancy list of coffees just pure decent and incredible coffee. Service is very personal and the staff are friendly. The interior of the shop is very inviting with earthy wood styled furnishings and a tasteful color scheme. Just wish they were open on Sunday!

Have read a few reviews saying the coffee is good but too small. Really ? If you want a big milky or watery crap tasting coffee go down the road to Dome. These guys are making and serving real coffee the way it should be. A lot of Perth's cafe's could learn a thing or two from Humblebee. Great stuff guys, keep it up.

There are very few places in Perth where you can get a great coffee and this is one of them! Worth the extra drive to have one of their awesome coffees. You can thank them for my morning hit that makes me a nicer person in the morning. Too small to have the bike hoards (that's always a plus). Just right for a quiet coffee and a read of the newspaper.

Best coffee ever! Lovely staff! Great to go to a place that makes excellent no fuss coffee. The doughnuts are great especially the red fruit ones!

Good coffee but on two of the three occasions I've been there the service was (in my humble opinion) a little haughty. I'll give it one more go but frankly these days both the coffee and the service have to be top notch.

Humblebee is worth a look. They are sure to have something different to try. The coffee was great.
