Convenient location at end of town. Clean room, comfortable beds with nice refrigerator, microwave & wall mounted TV. Owner was very accommodating. Only drawback was some 'traffic noise' in morning from the highway ramp.

Clean rooms, friendly owners, (upgraded me to a king as it wasn't being used, I'm a tall guy 6 2"), Great wifi (streamed football and no lag) and cute cats that help ward of evil spirits, most likely. No complaints 10/10.

Stayed here a few nights while hiking and seeing the redwoods. Of course this isn’t your high class hotel that you will find closer to a city. But it was clean, comfortable and quiet. Good price. Great service by those that owned/staffed the Inn. Within walking distance from a few diners with great food and a great small coffee spot. Would recommend this hotel if you are coming to check out Humboldt Redwood State Park.

Google
The exterior of the units in severe need of work: repairing brick steps to rooms, landscaping, painting, junk removal. It looks like the interior of the units has been recently updated with new wallpaper, flooring, bathroom fixtures, painting, tile work. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet. No one at reception when we checked in; no one there when we checked out. A decent place to stay when you don't expect any amenities - or breakfast, or pool or an ice machine. Check local prices for your stay.Vi

I mean to be honest this place seems outdated but the manager was very nice and even cut us a deal because of the time of day it was. Everything was clean, the beds were very comfortable, and it was nice and quiet. We will definitely stay again if we're in the area.

Willing to let far too many college kids pile into one three bed room for a couple of nights. Rooms were not "luxury," but they were clean and warm and dry and that was perfect.. Tysm!

Google
The inn has a welcoming and peaceful vibe. We stayed upstairs in a room w two big comfortable beds. The room was very clean and well appointed and the staff was very friendly. I enjoyed especially the conversation w the innkeeper. He was very nice and had been taking care of his hotel a long time and the detail and beauty in the building shows. I look forward to my next drive through Garberville again!

Google
Made the reservation online and paid for the room before seeing it. The Motel seems to have been built in the 40's or 50's and may have been updated about 1975 judging from the decor. The rim around the toilet bowl was filthy (black marks/dirt). The Mattress was comfortable and sheets appeared clean. We slept well after I killed the flies and mosquito. We returned after a full day away and our room had not been made up. The manager explained he had been gone to pick up his daughter and all of the help was new. They did try to make it right by bringing us fresh towels and offering to make the bed. If you read they have wifi or internet access DON'T BELIEVE IT. It was intermittent and weak at best. In fairness the whole town seems to have become very distressed since our last visit to the area and this "Inn" seems to be part of the slide. The pool was not clean and there were no chairs around it. And for all of this... we paid more than we think is right.

Yelp
Decent mid hotel reasonably priced for area. Pool looks closed forever. Wouldn't stay for a week but a night or two isn't bad. friendly and fun manager. Note that shower heads are installed but look missing.

Yelp
HAUNTED! DO NOT SAY HERE. I would give this place 0 if I could. This place is incredibly sketchy and haunted. My grandfather and I booked a room here with double beds for a single night on a road trip up the coast a few days ago. I woke up at 3am to the feeling of someone watching me. I turned my phone light on and looked around and no one was there. As I laid back down I felt the space beside my bed depress like someone was getting onto the bed. Then, it was like someone wrapped their arms around my body. I felt like I couldn't breath or move. When I finally mustered enough oxygen in my lungs, I leaped out of the bed with all I had in me and turned on the light. Again, nothing was there. Room #23. My grandfather and I drove the whole length of the Avenue of the Giants looking for a decent spot to say for the night - with the idea of exploring the Redwoods the next day. We decided the Humbolt was our best option after seeing that many of the residents of the town were living in the hotel rooms of the other motels in the area. There seems to be a large homeless population here. Also many forestry service trucks were parked in the lot, which seemed to indicate something positive if they were staying there. However we were so wrong about that. The other issues with the room were that it REEKED of cigarette smoke. We've been back on the road for 3 days and our clothes still have a twinge of that smell - even the clean items in our suit cases. The shower had no official nozzle, it's like one you'd see at Venice Beach and there was either cigarette ash or mold on the shower curtain. My grandfather also found pubic hair in the tub matt. The overall cleanliness of this place was insanely gross. The other patrons of the hotel were also loud, kept their hotel doors open and were pretty intimidating.

Yelp
The inn's proprietor and the accommodations were most welcoming after a long drive on hwy 101. The room was clean and comfortable and the shower was plenty hot and had great water pressure. The guests in neighboring rooms were all so nice too! This inn attracts a clean and friendly vibe. We look forward to our next drive through Garberville to stay here again!

Yelp
Stayed two nights. No housekeeping service. That's ok. I can make my own bed, but I didn't appreciate only being given enough coffee for one cup (for two mornings). The property was filthy (see picture). Next time I'll definitely spend the extra money and stay someplace different.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the unfortunate pleasure of staying at this inn. Don't do it. There was weed on the floor. Holes in the sheets. Spiders everywhere. And we were fortunate enough to find a tick on the bed. Unfortunately every other hotel in the area was booked. Trust me we tried. Oh and we couldn't complain because the front desk person left at 8 and left the key for us under the mat.

Jake M.

Yelp
The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the owner (host?) was nice and gave me some tips to check out the area the next day. Can't complain!
google avatar

Dawnna F.

Yelp
Nice man checked us in showed us room very clean, but needed clean blanket and comforter. No blow Dyer but a small coffee maker. $100.00 - don't go out at night lots homeless people in this little town.

Yelp
I had a really nice experience. Very friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay. I'm really surprised at some of the reviews. I have come to find that unfortunately people seem to just like to complain. They pay $90 and expect the Ritz. Definitely check out the hotel it's worth it.

Yelp
I stay here every October for the Humboldt Redwoods Half Marathon. It's the best option I've seen in the area, but there aren't many other options. It's a little annoying how they jack the rates up for that weekend, but they book up so I guess it makes sense. The staff is super-nice and accommodating. They leave a few shower rooms open after the race so folks can get cleaned up after the checkout deadline. I think they also start (their pretty decent) breakfast early on race morning. The infrastructure leaves something to be desired - old, motel-style building, funky interior decorating, etc.. Pretty much just an average Best Western.

Yelp
BEWARE!!! This place is EXTREMELY DECEIVING! When my bf and I needed a place to stay after a 10hr road trip, we decided to stay in the small town of Garberville. The Best Western was already full so our last choice was here. It looks pretty run down, but we didnt have a choice. I'm not dissapointed. The bed was comfortable, fluffy pillows, clean bathroom, clean towels, little fridge and an old school color t.v. If you are extremely picky and only used to 5-star hotels this isnt the place for you. as there are stains on the floor and Aged building smell. all that matters is that it was clean and there were NO BED BUGS, which both, my bf and I are extremely content with since we had a terrible experience with those lovely creatures when we stayed at a motel 6 in Napa and still trying to get rid of them in our own place. It's also very convenient as it is right infront of a bar/restaurant... the one that stays open the latest in this town.

Yelp
We were on a recent spur of the moment road trip so no plans of over night acommodations had been made. We pulled into Garberville around 8 PM then called around to all of the local motels and Inns. Other than the Best Western, most were priced very similarly. We choose the Humboldt Redwoods Inn as they were reasonable and were not on the bed bug registry. Well, maybe the best western would have been the best choice. We had the same "creepy vibe" from the room as a previous guest. There was a door in one of the rooms with a lock but why was it there? Where did it go? There was a small hole in the wall just under the headboard of the bed, almost at a glory hole zone. You could tell the room used to be 2 rooms at one time but people want double beds any more so this was a later room merger. One bed was as hard as a rock one was slightly less hard. The sheets and blankets were thin even for motels. The pillows were super cheap and provided no support. There were flying bugs in our room and some other bug walking over my son's pillow. The super mini fridge did not work and the lights were sketchy in the bathroom. The TV was straight out of 1990 and the remote was missing the back and had a rubber band on it. The folks tha gave it a good review must not have had our room. Oh and no breakfast? Well, ok but how about invest the breakfast money in upgrades here and there. Wifi? Nice but what about mattresses or pillows?

Yelp
I can't believe it's been 5 years to the day since I'd stayed here - and my experience this time confirms what I experienced then. Note to fellow experienced city folks and world travelers: the Humboldt Redwoods Inn is a motel, not a fancy hotel, which means that for under $100, it's a great clean, safe, friendly deal. BUT, compare it to a $250-$350 hotel room in San Francisco, and you'll complain, as some do. Think simple, clean, convenient motel and you'll be thrilled, as I was again, for several nights of sound sleep in 2015, as I was in 2010. Our room even had an expected vaulted ceiling to make it seem more spacious than a regular motel room. For a place just 100 yards off Hwy 101, it's surprisingly, wonderfully, quiet. "Mark" still owns and operates the place, and is friendly, helpful, happy to converse with us guests and help out with information and recommendations. He clearly is the reason this is not just another motel, but run by someone who cares. Take note, though: the town of Garberville is itself a weird, mixed bag of shops and services -- and Humboldt's own brand (or should I say blend?) of stoner homeless population. Like an upstate SF's Haight-Ashbury, walking past a dozen seemingly jobless young men & women living on the street will turn some people off. But the tradeoff is Garberville has super-friendly working townspeople, and offers the convenience of a supermarket, hardware store, gas station, and numerous low-key cafes and restaurants, and all in flat walking distance from the Inn (the main street's shops only run about 1/4-mile). For our group's 3-night's stay, it was perfect, and we even made the reservations at the last minute (after the Labor Day weekend) and were thrilled to be accommodated.

Patti C.

Yelp
We needed a room last minute since the highway was closed down for the night. The owner was very nice, friendly, and accommodating. However, the overall environment was unsettling. First, our initial room reeked of marijuana. The owner was nice enough to find us another room that was better. Second, there were tons of people on the street just outside the hotel smoking various substances along with some witnessed drug deals, drug use, loud disagreements, and even a prostitute entering the hotel (not confirmed, but we suspected based on her attire). We were traveling with two very young children, and didn't feel comfortable staying here. I am giving it two stars because the room itself was ok (the second room we were given), and we probably would have been fine with the outside environment if it were just my husband and me. But, I wouldn't recommend staying anywhere in this town if you have children.

Yelp
Let's take this for what it's worth, it's your standard cheap motel. Tired and weary from a long day of traveling up the coast from SF, we decided upon stopping in Garberville since it seemed to be the only sign of civilization in what felt like a long time. There were several hotels/motels to chose from but I'm not sure how they fare compared to this one. We pulled into the parking lot of this particular place since it was the first one we saw. It was kind of late for a small town on a Sunday, so we had to ring a bell for an attendant to be summoned from somewhere "behind-the-scenes" so to speak. I guess 8pm is pushing it in these parts. Kind of odd, but so was the whole experience of being here. Plus, what choice did we have? Were there bedbugs? Not to my knowledge. Did they give us an old school metal key for the room? Yes, they did. Was the town sketchy at night time? You better believe it. Did a random homeless man pop out of a bush out front in the morning? Yes. Was there a proper shower head on the shower in the bathroom? No. Still not the worst place I've ever stayed, just saying. And if you don't go in with the highest of expectations, you'll find that it's not bad given the price. Although this has nothing to do with the motel itself, I can't help but mention to watch your back while walking around town at night...some shifty characters out there...I live in a big city and even I was a little tense.

Yelp
We stayed here because of its very close proximity (like, one 101 exit away) from the Avenue Of The Giants. That mattered to us, and I guess that matters to you or else you wouldn't be reading this review, right? We rolled in around 7:45, 20 minutes or so before sunset. The lady at the counter was sweet - there was apparently a construction crew in a monthlong residency, and seeing as how I had two kids with me she put us up on the opposite side of the building, to keep my kids' vocabulary from escalating too rampantly. The room had two beds, each separated by a wall - to my kids, this seemed like the most extravagant place on earth. We had a fridge, we had good wifi, we had a good night's rest. No breakfast, but that's your invitation to check out the charming Eel River Cafe down the street. Great location and a good value, a solid base for a day of giant-hunting.

Yelp
Great experience every time, simple as can be with the simplest things ya need recommend for all types of stays!!

Yelp
Really hate giving bad reviews when the staff is so nice, but I'm a firm believer in constructive criticism. This place was "not that bad". However, not worth anymore than $80 a night. Whoever does the housekeeping needs some more guidance. My room was filthy. Dirty floor, especially under beds. Black hairs EVERYWHERE. Bathroom wasn't clean, had to wipe the toilet before using. Shower head was broken. Sheets were stained all the way through, pillows covered in hair. Surfaces looked questionable. Toilet was from the 1800s. You couldn't pay me to use the coffee pot. Crappy toiletries. Room/furniture was old and outdated. Wifi was a little slow (they had a full house though), ended up using my hotspot. Bed was firm and comfortable. AC unit worked well although it was very close to the bed. Nice tv with good channels. Lots of towels and washcloths, but still, could've been cleaner (eyeliner/makeup stains, hairs, didn't smell bad but didn't smell good either...use bleach to wash them!). Overall, if you're exhausted from driving and just want a quiet place to eat, sleep, shower, and sh**, then I recommend. I would advise the owner putting a little cash into the place to make it nicer (better bedding, curtains, paint, furniture and fixtures), this place could be really nice and worth more. I don't mind an ugly room and cheap soap so much, but cleanliness is an absolute must!!! Not the best place, but not bad enough that I wouldn't stay again.

Yelp
Wasn't the best experience. Had booked in Expedia, but dates were messed up. So called the hotel direct and gentleman seemed accommodating. Assured us we would have two rooms together and would take care of canceling g the Expedia reservation. Made a point of telling us check in was after 4 only, which was emphasized multiple times. Got a call a little while later that they couldn't cancel the reservation, so had to cancel it on my own(fortunately Expedia made it easy). We arrived at 4:20. A gentleman was out front on his laptop when we pulled up, told my family to wait as we checked in, and went to reservations and had to ring the bell. Guy on laptop out front who watched us walk up then got up and came In to help us. I assumed since we had to ring the bell the door had a buzzer to let us in, that was a mistake as the guy curtly told us to "just come in". He then, again curtly(borderline rudely) asked if we had reservations, which was odd considering the parking lot was devoid of life. We assured him we did, and filled out the 1980s check in card, paid, and received our plastic diamond, 1980s metal old school keys to rooms across the parking lot from each other(not what was reserved). We then got to our rooms. The quick list: heater worked, but had a busted bearing so was unbearably loud. The "upgraded amenities" we're a flat screen tv and a new bathroom counter that still had the coffee stains from the previous victim. The beds weren't the worst, but the bugs chewing on us were unpleasant. The shower did work however. The wifi only worked when you were outside the room, a trifle difficult in 30 degree weather. This is not the hotels fault(but could have been disclosed) but the town is completely shut down by 4 pm with only homeless and severely drunk people wandering around. The one cantina was open but terrifying to enter. The homeless made camp in the roundabout out front so were loud and drunk all night. And if you plan on heading south on 101 just avoid garberville as it did not have a south bound on ramp, instead you get to travel north several miles and get off and back on the freeway. For $90 a night to stay at what was essentially a hotel straight from the 80s it was a bit pricey, but not more so than the other dive motels in town. Best Western was double the price. Not sure why a town with no food, one road in and out and little to offer charges so much, but I would recommend the extra hour of driving north to get to Fortunate, Ferndale, or Ukiah and not risk bed sores, poor service, and no way to even eat after noon.

Yelp
This was one of the best hotels my friends and I have ever stayed at and we have stayed at hundreds of them. The gentleman at the counter upon check in, Mark, was hugely accommodating for our large party and met our needs beautifully. Even though Garberville is a small town, this hotel has big city appeal. From early check in to the impeccably clean rooms and their convenient location, everything was taken care of in a professional and friendly manner by our inviting hosts. Our Labor Day 2012 Party and the RWMF will be remembered as being one for the ages and it's all thanks to Mark and the Humboldt Redwoods Inn. 10 out of 10!!!

Yelp
Bad customer service !!! Doesn't not help with anything if u need help and don't know anyone your out of luck

Crystal K.

Yelp
Staff was very friendly and extremely accommodating, letting us check in early and even ran over to clean a room for a friend so they could check in early as well. Room was extremely clean and had excellent air conditioning. Very reasonably priced and excellent location. We will definitely stay there again if in the area.

Yelp
Excellent little hotel that was inexpensive, safe, clean, and all around awesome! also great air conditioning as it was hot over the labor day holiday weekend. Mark the manager was extremely friendly and we got our room right away even though we arrived earlier than the check in time! It was a great location and easy to walk around to check out the local restaurants. We plan to make this our Redwoods destination! Looking forward to next time!!!!!
google avatar

Kathryn K.

Yelp
I decided to take a road trip up to the Redwoods during a holiday three-day weekend on the spur of the moment and this was the only place that wasn't booked. I'm giving it five stars because it's as good as a very inexpensive local motel could be. The person answering the phone was polite and efficient, the room was clean and well appointed for a room in this price range and the TV was new and had lots of channels. I slept like a baby on the surprisingly comfortable mattress and woke up very refreshed and ready to enjoy my day hugging trees.
google avatar

alex g.

Yelp
A great little place to stay, right off the freeway. Rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. If we go back up north, I would stay here again.
google avatar

Aileene C.

Yelp
For a 2 bedrm- 1 king & 2 queens for $125 you'd think you'd be gettin a nice room like at Comfort Inn & Suites or Best Western.. WRONG! The outside looks nice, the inside looks like sh*t. There were bugs in the room & the vibe of the room was overall creepy. The beds were hard & springy, bathroom was creepy as well. We checked out right away, you're better off staying at the motel right by it.
google avatar

Alex C.

Yelp
Basic accommodations for the night. We arrived ready to set out on the Lost Coast trail the next morning. The owner was there and gave tons of insightful and helpful information about the area, including challenges it's facing from the influx of "informal" farming operations. He seemed to really care about the redwoods and the health of the forests. Clean rooms, comfy beds.
google avatar

Misty B.

Yelp
This was the most affordable room in town. Considering that everything was fine. The room was a little old but clean with a very comfortable king sized bed. Shower was clean, water was hot. No perks here but you get what you pay for. I would stay here again.
google avatar

Louise W.

Yelp
While this place didn't cost as much as the others in the area, it wasn't worth the price. Run down rooms, - springy mattresses placed on plywood boxes, pillows that should have been replaced 10 years ago, stained and dirty carpets. Lights that do or don't turn on - after turning the light on about 20 times it finally came on. Wi-fi that is offered for free? Yeah, rooms don't really receive it. We were told - move around the room or go upstairs on the balcony and sit at the table there, if you can tolerate the cold. Air conditioner in the room - on the floor next to the bed - loud! Now, I realize that its near the Redwoods - but do I need to have spiders in my room? I killed a wolf spider in the bathroom, a nasty looking one on the wall by the bed, my son killed another by his bed. Here's a story for you...in the middle of the night I woke up with this burning in my upper chest, choking. I get up, go in our cooler for water ( I wouldn't drink their tap water) go in the bathroom so I don't wake up the rest of my family, I'm producing a lot of mucous for some reason, start gagging and proceed to vomit some blood. WTF? The burning in my chest is continuing, I try to drink the cold water but I'm still producing the mucous. It took over an hour to be able to go back to bed. I don't know what it was. It has never, NEVER happened to me before and it didn't happen any other night afterwards. Did something happen with a spider that I don't want to know about? Bizarre. I would rather pay more for another hotel that is clean and I won't end up choking on something!

Larry S.

Yelp
This is a little haven to act as a home base when exploring the incredible Richardson Grove nearby. Drive along the canopy of redwoods, head a little further north, turn right off the highway, and you get a calm oasis, well-cared for by the proprietor. Proprietor Mark cares about community, and was a gracious and generous host. Incredible value given the amenities and gorgeous surroundings. Definitely worth checking out as a weekend getaway, when coming through the area for a short or extended stay, or in our case, acting as command central for a documentary film shoot!
google avatar

Jim W.

Yelp
For the price, location and the amenities, this is a great place. The fussbudgets complaining about a bug or two should stay home and hide in their cancerous bug-spray poisoned homes to avoid the trauma of encountering Mother Nature. As one reviewer said--actually a couple I think: better to give this place a one star to keep the Stepford Wives out.
google avatar

Julie G.

Yelp
Mark was a gracious host, and made many recommendations... the room was clean and more away from the traffic compared to other motels. Great place!
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
Room was not vacuumed. Can hear every noise as guests arrive. No ac in room. Shower went from hot to cold randomly, but it wasn't the worst place I've ever stayed in. Bed was comfy.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Right off the freeway, first stop on your right when coming into Garberville. I stayed here for the Avenue of the Giants marathon and it was perfect! Quiet rooms with a nice fan near the bed to make some noise and soothe you off to sleep. Probably the best part was that they were nice enough to allow a late checkout so you could come back and take a shower after the run. Walking distance to all the things in Garberville too!
google avatar

Yelp
This hotel is a nice, dated hotel. Rooms were clean and smelled nice. The bathroom is a bit odd but very functional, it looks like the counter was added last weekend, kind of cheap looking, but functional. The manager/owner is wonderful and very helpful, he gave us god directions and made our stay nice. We stayed in the corner suite with two rooms and it gave the other couple some privacy. The sad part of the hotel is that the wonderful socialist state of Californication shut down his hotel pool because it is not handicapped accessible. This place was made years ago and not real practical to add a lift, so they say if handicapped can't use it, not one can. Welcome to our new world. I would stay here again, it is a fair value for what you get. Not a bunch of options in this town.

Yelp
Talk about a time warp! This little gem is run down and old, still has an actual lock and key to get into your room! It was graduation weekend and rooms were booked up at the hotels we preferred in Arcata. The décor, bedding, mini fridge, carpet (KEEP YOUR SOCKS/SHOES ON!), giant AC unit are all outdated. I was afraid to sleep on the bed, but had some extra blankets to throw over the bed so we could rest. Honestly, it gave a Bates feel. I am 99.9% sure I would never stay here again. The lady at the front was friendly and knowledgeable about the area, so those stars are for her!
google avatar

Pat T.

Yelp
Comfortable room, WiFi available, basic TV, fridge no microwave, quiet. Owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and helpful with questions. Rates are competitive and highly recommend.

Yelp
Good value for your cash. We stayed here in June and were hesitant about being next to an off ramp, but the night was surprisingly quiet. Slept with the window open and although there was noise from one or two guests checking in during the evening, it was actually peaceful. The bed was comfortable, the room & bathroom were clean, and the mgr on site was helpful. It is what it is folks...a small, independently owned small town motel. Yes, the furniture is a little dinged, the tv is old but it works, and we would stay there again :)

Jerry S.

Yelp
Quiet, clean, comfortable, feels safe. Reasonably priced. The owner, Mark, does a good job of keeping this place running. It's recently been remodeled and the rooms are very pleasant. It was comfortable and quiet and the bed was great. I stayed here years ago also and it was just fine then but I do appreciate the upgrades in the rooms. It's a shame about the pool, but life goes on. I highly recommend the Humboldt Redwoods Inn for your stay in Garberville.

Vanessa A.

Yelp
No breakfast, AC is VERY loud, after five minutes in the shower the water ran cold, so one person out of four was able to shower. Wifi is practically non-existent, could use more than one outlet that's across the room. All this for $155!!!
google avatar

Briana G.

Yelp
There is old that is quaint...and then there is just old. It was clean but lots could be done to make this a neat place. It is a decent 2nd choice if BW is full but there is nothing 5 star about it.

Alan P.

Yelp
For the price NOT WORTH IT! A very basic motel. It does have tv , wifi, a frig, microwave, and ac. NO ice, No plastic glasses, no coffee pot.

Jerry D.

Yelp
Not sure where these other people stayed, but I've never stayed in a nastier place. Trash behind the night stand, the carpet was so nasty and stained, I didn't walks on without my shoes on, there was a sticky film on the air conditioner and that made so much noise that we couldn't sleep. If there was an alternative we would have left.

Yelp
Standard room with standard amenities. Our room was clean and comfortable and seemed to be well maintained. They offer a standard complimentary breakfast that can be found at most Best Western Plus Motels. The also offer a cheese and wine reception in the evening. Be advised that you are in Humbolt county, so your room is going to smell like marijuana on a regular basis. Many homeless people and drug attics hang out around the motel, which is not the facilities fault, there is just a severe lack of law enforcement presence in town. Garberville is a small town with a population of less than 1000 people. There are few places to eat and most of them close at 5PM. The stag was a mixed bag of personalities. Some of them were very kind and helpful while others were not. I was surprised to look at my bank account to see two charges for over $150. It turns out they hold $150 a day for incidentals. I have never had more than $50 held for an entire stay at other facilities.

Yelp
I have stayed in some yucky rooms and let me just say that it was not the worst. However, It was certainly not the best. I stopped here after being in the car all day. ( that seems to be the common theme of these reviews) I was tired, it was rainy and late on a Thursday. Well late for a small town anyway. (6:30pm) I arrived on a graduation weekend so rooms were getting filled quickly. But the man at the desk was nice and the rate was great (75$ for the night) However, they only take a credit card, no cash or debit. In my opinion that is just crazy. But I had been camping up until then so my standards were low. It wasn't a tent or a car so it fit the bill. That was about all I got. The bed was ok. Again, not the ground so a plus. The room at first glance was ok. But then I took a shower and found mold on the shower curtain. Yuck! Slept ok but the walls are VERY thin. I can tell you that at 7:00am the man in the room next to mine got up and when to the bathroom!!! haha you heard right! I slept a bit longer then got up to get ready to hit the road. Now being a woman all my things seem to scatter when I enter a room, so I starting packing up and I check under the bed to make sure that I didn't miss anything and......there was a tampon under the bed!!!!!!! It was not mine! YUCK YUCK YUCK!!!!!!!! I have to say that that was a bit shocking. There was also no one there to inform about the matter. I guess the office is not open at 10:00 on a Friday. So if you are going to stay at this inn just keep your standards low. It is what it is, a motel in a very small sleepy town.

Yelp
Great night sleep, but showers need different heads. Hope they fix that or I can't stay in future. Very hospitable.

Yelp
Stayed here recently for a night during a drive up the Pacific Coast Highway - we were super tired, trying to make it up to Arcata for the night, but ran out of steam when we hit Garberville. We saw the signs for Best Western, and were headed that way when this little vintage-style cutie caught our eye. I would always prefer to stay at a place with a little character than a big corporate chain. If that's not your thing, then you'll be better off staying somewhere bland and sterile. We enjoyed our stay there, as it had everything we required: a clean room and bathroom, hot water, comfy bed, and simplicity. Mark checked us in with great conversation, and was really helpful and engaging. Recommended we do Avenue of the Giants, and I'm really glad we did! Plus, I liked the art on the walls in our room. Botanicals and Georgia O'Keefe - so much better than the art at Best Western, I'm sure! Thanks for the much needed rest and comfort, Humboldt Redwoods Inn!

Yelp
This is one of those hotels that I would rather rate 1 star just so I can be sure it isn't packed when i get to town but they deserve to do well because they do a great job. Very friendly staff and accommodating to California Prop 215 patients. After all, it is Southern Humboldt so it's nice to see the appropriate accommodations. There isn't any breakfast served but the Eel River Cafe is right down the street so you can't go wrong.

Yelp
Never will i stay at this hole in the wall, bug habitat again. I should have read the other 1 star reviews prior to booking. I filed a complaint with the Auto Club after our stay.

Yelp
We stayed here for two nights on the first weekend of October. The location was perfect. And I loved how huge our room was - for a two queen room, at very reasonable price, we actually had two large rooms, one bed in each. And I agree with one of the reviewers: catch one or two or more conversations with the owner Mark. You will learn about redwood trees, the ecology, the region with its culture, its history, its current affairs and its future. Very worthwhile!!
