Went into the Hume General Store restaurant not just for lunch, but with a specific “other” purpose in mind: looking for a photo of my father working there back in the late 60’s, as a bartender. Dad apparently trained Dave (the owner back then), on how to run a bar, back in the day. Staff today (Whitney from Mike’s bar), took the time to help me look for this photo - we scoured the place, but we unfortunately came up empty handed. This hotel - and it’s restaurants - all have such great character: the beautiful atmosphere has a timeless elegance, and the finishes of all the rooms truly tell a story of craftsmanship… and staff add the finishing touch with terrific service. Thanks, “Whitney,” for helping this tourist today! 👍

I wish I could give this hotel a five-star review, but I want to be honest. The hotel is truly a gem, and with just a few tweaks, it could be nearly perfect.||I stayed for two nights. The interior decor is excellent and has a nice flow throughout the hotel. There are numerous historical photos displayed, making it enjoyable to wander around and explore the rich history. The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, and it's refreshing to see buildings being preserved.||The elevator is small, which is typical for older buildings, but there's a wide staircase next to it, covered in lovely soft carpet. There are also chairs on each floor if you need to take a break. The rooms are nicely decorated and come with a small fridge and coffee pods, and you can open the windows. The bathrooms feature penny tile floors, lovely bathtubs, and attractive fixtures. Someone invested a significant amount of money during the last renovation.||The bed was very comfortable, and I didn't hear any noise from other rooms. The housekeeping and front desk staff were friendly, as were those in the restaurant. The hotel has three dining options.||We had dinner at a family-style restaurant, and it was perfect. The service there was also excellent. Overall, we had a great experience, and I've already recommended this hotel to a co-worker.||The only suggestions I have for improvement are to offer different menus in each restaurant instead of the same one for all three, and to enhance the cable TV options, as there were very few movie channels available. It would have been nice to enjoy a good movie before going to sleep, especially in a unique place like the Hume Hotel. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any good movies to watch. I mentioned this to the front desk staff at checkout, who informed me that other guests had raised the same concern. Hopefully, this issue will be addressed by the time we visit the Hume again.

We visited here for dinner after a long 6 hour drive to Nelson since there was only one other restaurant open in town and it was very busy. When we walked in, we decided to go to the Library Lounge because the other 2 restaurants were closing for the night. A middle aged woman with short, dark hair was one of the hosts for the evening, and was extremely rude to us.||I am an 18 year old visiting from Australia, my Canadian companion (a 65 year old who was a flight attendant for many many years with a major Canadian airline), was raving about how good the Hume Hotel food and service has been in recent years. I was absolutely appalled and disgusted by the way we were both treated by the server. ||As soon as we got to the door, the server allowed us to choose a table of our liking and gave us both a menu. We then waited around 10 minutes to be helped again. When she came back, she brought water over to us and then she asked for my ID. I didn’t have it on me at the time but assumed it didn’t matter because we both weren’t ordering drinks and just wanted something to eat. She then rudely stated “I cannot serve you in this room” and then snatched the water back off the table and turned and walked away. My companion then said in a polite tone “We aren’t ordering drinks, we just would like to order something to eat”. The server then replied “I can’t serve her” before turning and walking away. I was absolutely shocked and embarrassed as to the way she handled the incident. For the both of us, it was done on purpose to show authority over who she “believes she is”. She embarrassed us both in front of a room full of people and we both went home hungry and unable to have anything to eat.||THIS IS DISCRIMINATION. ||As stated in BC's Liquor Primary Handbook, it says minors are only allowed in liquor-primary establishments if they are accompanied by a - |“Parent, guardian, stepparent, grandparent, spouse of the minor or another adult who could reasonably be expected to act in place of a parent and be responsible for supervision of the minor”. ||I was accompanied by someone much older, who is well and truly qualified to accompany me and to be rudely turned down service because of my age just because it’s YOUR company policy, it goes against the law! ||This all could have been handled in a much more professional and polite manner (if she asked me at the door when we first got there). It wouldn’t have been a problem this way, but our experience and the way we have been treated has left a bad taste and name for the hotel, management and the staff. ||Never will we return to this hotel or restaurant, nor will we recommended to anyone. I am truly appalled.

Google
Can't say thank you enough to the staff at this hotel. Everything was awesome. From check-in to the restaurant, all amazing staff making us feel at home. The hotel is really cool, lots of places to hang out , get a drink etc. Highly recommend the beer garden area. Breakfast was free and it was great. I also recommend visiting the baristas downstairs for coffee. They make a great latte. Extra thanks to the front desk personel and massage therapist. They were great! We will be back!

Whenever possible I try to stay in hotels in older historical buildings and so I was excited to stay at Hume. It did not disappoint!! The rooms were well renovated with high quality shampoo, lotion, etc…. Beds were so comfortable, room was quiet! We went to the Library for a couple cocktails. Old fashions were great! If you can check out the Library. If you book direct from the hotel you get a free breakfast and the options are great! Highly recommend the General Store for breakfast. Parking can be an issue but they have a small lot that holds about 10 cars. We arrived around 3 and was able to get a spot. If we come back to Nelson, we will come back!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hume. It's a historic property, so some quirkiness is to be expected, right?||The hotel has about 10 parking spots which are in high demand. We were here during ski season and of course there was some giant SUV taking up multiple parking spots. The good news is there is a public lot right next door that is something like $4/day. ||Our room was cute, if a little warm. I think our room was a little bigger than I was expecting from a historic property. That said we were in an interior facing room and there was a consistent banging noise that kept us up at night, unfortunately. ||There is one elevator and it is slow and tiny (old hotel) so it's best if you are prepared to walk up and down the stairs. A bit of a slog with your skis etc but such is the price we pay I suppose.||Location is ideal. You are right in the thick of it with tons of restaurants etc all around.||The bed & breakfast deal is great. We enjoyed the hotel breakfast each morning and at in the restaurant a couple of other times. The same menu is served in all three venues, which we appreciated! This is a popular place so happy hour & beyond was typically tough to get a table without a reservation.||The hume was great for a romantic get away and would possibly return in the future!||EV owners beware-- the charging situation in Nelson is DIRE. There is one working charger that is at the co-op grocery store a few blocks away. It charged us at about 50kw. We felt lucky to get some time on the charger as it was seemingly always occupied. Nearest super charger is about 30 minutes away in Castlegar (if you can supercharge).

Google
Hume Hotel is absolutely outstanding! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. The staff are all amazing, but a special shout-out to VANIA, who went above and beyond to make our stay even more enjoyable. She was incredibly kind, not only to us but also to our dog, which truly meant a lot. The atmosphere, the service, and the hospitality at Hume Hotel make it a place I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Nelson. We will definitely be coming back!

My friend and I stayed at Hume Hotel & Spa. Specifically July 07 2025 night. The two girls that were in charge of the counter made this trip memorable for us. One of the girls asked us to go for a walk and that she will keep an eye out for a motorcycle parking spot and that she will call us. This meant the world to us. These 2 ladies truly understand how to make someone's trip memorable. Thank you so much.

Yelp
Despite not having a reservation for the General Store Restaurant, the wait staff was able to get my group a table right away. The food quality was fantastic and looked just as good as it tasted, especially the turtle cheesecake, and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, resulting in an experience that lasted 2 hours, but felt shorter. If you want a fantastic dining experience in Nelson, this is the place to go.

Yelp
Great experience and beautiful old hotel. Location can't be beat near the center of downtown, within walking distance of damn near everything. Room was spotless and well-appointed. Bathroom shower featured traditional head as well as waterfall-style overhead. Bathtub big enough for a gone-to-seed male shaved gorilla and his small and obliging human female counter-part. Cheap toilet paper tho. Boo. Breakfast was a full service pick from a small list affair. Food was great. Portions modest. Wonderful vibe and excellent service. Parking is in a ramp next to the hotel. Hotel is old and the sound carries. We were above the bar and it got pretty crazy a few times. There's a nightclub in the basement and that could be a factor too for some of the rooms. They'll give you a little disclaimer about the noise when you check in, and earplugs to boot. Wouldn't recommend to folks who absolutely need a sleep environment with minimal sound intrusion.

Yelp
The kitchen has really started cutting corners. The lettuce wraps have been my favourite take-out meal for years, but I definitely won't be ordering it again. The filling is supposed to have chicken, wonton crisps, onions, peppers, & peanuts, with fresh limes & green onions. But when I sat down to eat this time, I was SO disappointed. It was literally just a sad, half-filled container with chicken & peppers. That's it. Such a shame! Looks like I'll have to find a new, go-to meal.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed for 4 nights. Everything/everyone has been amazing since we walked through the door. Jody, at the frount desk has been so awesome! We stayed in Minnie's room, loved it! Our room was clean and the maid service was accommodatilng. We will definitely be coming back to the Hume. OMG, how could I have forgot... the Spa is a MUST! We had the 90 Mims relaxing massage and it was worth every cent.
google avatar

Yelp
There was a mishap with our reservation but Jody, the manager handled it exceptionally well. The spa is incredible, best massage I've had in a while. The hotel has an awesome pub and restaurant and it's a happening place. The front desk and staff were beyond friendly and accommodating. Rooms are clean and quiet but I was in the 4th floor. The only thing missing is a gym but otherwise it's a perfect place. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
This hotel was pretty nice for the price. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Our room was above the bar so it was loud at night, but I kind of expected that after reading the other reviews. I could sleep through anything so I didn't actually hear it but the people I was staying with said it was pretty loud. My biggest complaint was how hot the room was. We couldn't figure out the air conditioner, they have a fan for you in the room so that's nice. We slept with the window open both nights we were there (it was 30 degrees outside) and it was still super hot all night. I don't know if maybe being above the bar contributed to how hot it was? Maybe they had a heater on and heat rises so it made our room super hot? Anyway they have bingo on Tuesday nights. We wanted to go but only planned on getting there 30 minutes before and it was packed! So we didn't get to play. If you want to play, I suggest you get there pretty early. The breakfast included with you stay is pretty good. It was warm breakfast with eggs, potatoes, and meat or you can have a special, or continental if you choose. Their parking lot it's pretty small which can be challenging if you have a large car. Over all I would stay here again. It's in a good location and the price is right.

Yelp
This is a very wonderful restaurant and they're food is highly exquisite though it's a very fancy restaurant for a town like Nelson the only problems I had where the starter I got was very salty (calamari) but my meal was superb and tasted so good and the waiter was very fun and while I was there I was showing my father the trailer for the new spider man movie and the waiter came and watched it with us

Yelp
Best place for a burger and beer. Kid friendly. We love the foosball. I'm choosing this place as my top three for Nelson.

Yelp
We stopped at the Hume Hotel for breakfast during a road trip across the Province. We were heading to Nelson one early-morning, looking for a good breakfast to start the day, and wanted it served up in a local and historical setting -- our wishes sure came true with the Hume!! The food ordered took its time to get to our table, but when it did, we were not disappointed. We ordered typical breakfast fare (waffles, eggs & sausages, and etc.), and found the food decently-prepared, and tasty. The service - re: keeping our coffee cups filled, was good, and just what we needed that early-am. A good breakfast, in a very comfortable, and interesting historical setting ... it worked for us!!

Yelp
I took my son and my family out to lunch to celebrate Thanksgiving together. we chose the Hume Hotel or brunch because it offered lots of options for my vegetarian cousins. Also it has good accessibility for my elderly aunt. There were a lot of good options including the brunch items. On the carving board was a spiral ham and precarved Turkey. The mashed potatoes were delicious. Very nice salad options too. We all enjoyed ourselves. However I was disappointed by the cranberry sauce which was half-home made with canned berries. I expected scratch - it's so easy to do. Also the gravy was horrendous - if you don't have the good gravy gene then stick in a few packets of Knorr!!! Expectations are high for a turkey dinner.

Yelp
We spent an hour researching a last minute trip to Canada for my birthday and chose the Hume based on reviews and a phone conversation with Cheryl who was gracious in answering our many questions. The hotel itself...small but VERY NICE, CLEAN AND JUST BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY AREA. The food...we stayed 3 days and never felt compelled to go out, it's all good, served fresh and quickly. The free breakfasts are better than ANY continental breakfast I've ever had and many I've paid for. The staff...so nice, not a cranky soul in sight. MJ in the bar, she looks like Jennifer Aniston, was so fun to talk to. The front desk staff, Miriam, Stephanie, Cheryl and others made coming and going as enjoyable as the other facets of our trip. Our room...we were upgraded to the Rapunzel room, best view in the house I'm sure. It over looks the Courthouse and has a view of the river. Love the history of the hotel too...all in all...5 stars.

Yelp
Was a more than a little frustrated when we pulled up -after a day of driving- to the hotel and found no parking or a valet??? They have this really tiny lot on the side of the building that holds maybe 12 cars. If your are not lucky enough to get a spot you have to park on the street. Some of that is metered and some not and parking is really just up for grabs and ridiculous. Cannot recall if there was information regarding the lack of hotel parking when I made the reservation but based on others arriving at the same time and the front desk phone conversations, I doubt it. We were not the only ones frustrated. Hotel is old and shows in some places but adds to the charm. One teeny tiny elevator that even hotel cleaning staff utilizes, stairs the quicker option for sure. Said stairs are sloped as they are very old so take some care if your hauling luggage. We had the Ladybird Suite and it's beautiful. Easily one of the best hotel rooms we have stayed in. Very roomy and had practically every convenience. Just lovely. Staff warns guests at check in of loud events they host in the basement lounge and ear plugs are provided in the rooms. We were not bothered by the noise (didn't need ear plugs), but we always run a floor fan when traveling and that sound really drowns out most everything. A few glasses of wine at dinner didn't hurt either. Speaking of wine, we dined in the library and found the service and food to be very good. Everything was hot and flavorful and plenty. I had the mushroom ravioli and my husband the chicken & shrimp tortellini. Only suggestion would be to offer garlic bread in sourdough or French baguette instead of the Texas toast it came with. Service for breakfast was not as good but the food was again well done. Suggest the breakfast tacos! Yummy. In he end, we cancelled our second night and left Nelson a day early. If Nelson BC or old hotels with no parking don't put you off, Hume would be for you.

Yelp
What a wonderful little find! Loved the history of this place. Perfect area, easy to walk around. Great little pub, loved and already miss the Caesar drink! We will definitely come back. Clean and friendly place.

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay, our room was perfect. All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs has a great selection of all types of food. Nice atmosphere at this historic hotel that has all new renovations. We will be back! Thank you for everything!

Yelp
Spent two nights at the Hume Hotel in lovely Nelson. They provided an unasked-for upgrade to the Rattenbury Room. Enjoyed two great dinners in the Library and two complementary breakfasts in the General Store. Fabulous food and superior service. Highly recommend this.
google avatar

Yelp
Third time staying here and it never disappoints. The room is so comfortable, the breakfast which is complimentary, is so good. Wine and desserts at The Library are the best. The staff are all so attentive.

Yelp
The last time we stayed at this hotel, it was known as the Heritage Inn (20+ years ago). Back then, it was as authentic as you could get in a heritage establishment (and still is!). This time around (2 decades later and with the use of technology and internet to book), we booked online. If you're booking online, a few tips to consider to avoid any surprises at check-in. * Tip#1* If you're booking via Expedia or booking.com you need to realize that there are 2 types of rooms currently available at the Hume Hotel. 1) Heritage aka Classic (which are non-air conditioned and non-renovated. These will be the rooms listed that you will be comparing to other hotels online on lowest price. So essentially, a clean, hot, non-air-conditioned, "Motel style" room with a classic heritage decor (right on down to the brass door key). You should also note that these non-renovated rooms are located above Mike's Place (Bar) so be aware of the noise factor. 2) Renovated Rooms. They did an excellent job on the renovation of these rooms (right down to the room card keys). If you are accustomed to the comforts closer to a 4 diamond hotel accommodation, then this would be the option for you. For us, it was offered at an additional $50/night Premium (but like everything in life, you get what you pay for. The furnishings are new and we'll coordinated. The rooms are large. Our room which needed had 2 queen beds had a great sitting area with a love seat, coffee table, and another chair. It also had a great desk work area and a separate area for the fridge. The bathroom was well done. Nice new tile work on the floors. The entire room had been modernized as well with humidity controller in the bathroom and built in ceiling air conditioner in both sleeping areas. Their Spa just recently opened so it wouldn't surprise me to see their sample size bath products to promote quality bath products sold in their spa. The only thing missing was a room safe (probably not common in smaller town hotels, funny when I temporarily lived in Nelson 20 years ago people laughed at me for arming my car alarm.) The Keurig coffee maker located over the good size bar fridge was a nice added touch. Anyways, a bit of an explanation how I was able to describe both room types despite being away for so many years. When I first booked online, I was not aware of the two types of rooms (as it did not appear obvious to me when I was comparing accommodations). When we arrived at the front desk, the girl mentioned we had booked the heritage style (essentially no frills) room with no AC. She did bring up immediately that they had a renovated room for an additional $50 per night. It thought, here we go with the classic upsell. Without even requesting she offered for us to see each of the rooms ourselves before deciding (an excellent and effective upsell strategy as the renovated room was amazing compares to the "heritage" unrenovated hot rooms). We chose to go with the upsell which I later appreciated after we settled into the room. * Tip #2 * Free parking is very limited (about a dozen spots) but hey this isn't a big city hotel. As tempting as the neighboring parkade is, you will find it cheaper to park on the street. Street parking is free from 5pm to 9am. If you are checking in by 4pm don't bother paying $8 for the 9am coverage in the parkade. Go on the street and pay for the 1hr till 5pm and then again from 9am onward unless you're already out and about. The free breakfast that was included with our stay was excellent! The breakfast options were really good! Only thing I would add (but not the end of the world) would be pancakes. Since it was so busy in the morning, service was a bit on the slow side. Our eggs were a bit cool by the time they reached our table but understandable due to the number of people who filled the restaurant. The service level for what our server was able to control was excellent as our coffee cups were constantly refilled. All in all, if you are looking to stay in a classic style Hotel that is central with options to pay for various room experiences, the Hume Hotel will not disappoint. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, and the decor throughout is so cool! We would definitely consider staying here again on our next trip back to this beautiful city.

Yelp
This is certainly a cute little hotel. AND there are three bars right there. Bingo! The front desk folks are nice and everything seems clean. The breakfast that's included with the room was very tasty. That said, the first room they gave us was so small there was barely room to walk between the bed and the dresser. However, you must squeeze between the bed and the dresser to see where all the noise is coming from. We looked out and there was a big, thundering, HVAC unit. My significant other complained and they gave us a much nicer room - spacious and quiet. I'm curious why they didn't give us the better room to begin with? Another con is parking, as in, there is none.

Yelp
**This review is ONLY for the restaurant** Absolutely lovely. Walked in off the street with 9 people (5 kids) on a Sunday morning and they fed us like kings. The most delicious brunch buffet I've ever tasted OR seen. Our server, Sarah, was so sweet to everyone, and even commandeered the last 5 chocolate mousses off the dessert table for us so we could try them out. And boy they were good. Yes sir. Yes, decor is very cool and old. Super pretty blue tiles in the girls bathroom. Nifty knicknacks. But the food Gertrude, the food!
google avatar

Abbie B.

Yelp
Atmosphere is an experience in and of itself! We couldn't stop looking around. The Dublin burger didn't disappoint and the fish and chips were hearty. Housecut fries were delicious and the NBC beers paired well. We'd go back.

Cameron H.

Yelp
Honestly save your money and eat anywhere else in Nelson. I've given them multiple chances and every single time they disappoint! The last chance I gave them, I was in Mikes Place and sat at a table for roughly half an hour and the waitress walked past us multiple times and looked me directly in the eye and didn't say a word. I waved and tried to call her over and nothing. It was a Tuesday, roughly 2pm. There was 3 other tables, not busy at all! As we were giving up and putting on our jackets to leave she finally came over, but at that point we were frustrated especially with our poor past experiences. No apology, nothing. She seemed happy we were leaving. Again, this is after multiple very poor times at the Hume hotel. Overpriced, sub-par food at best. And I'd say the same for marzano as well. Same owners, same poor management. Hopefully one day they figure it out!

Diana S.

Yelp
Excellent food and excellent service. Always consistently good. My go to place for a meal out or a nice glass of wine....and the music in the "library lounge" is a real bonus. Highly recommend

Dean E.

Yelp
Good food and great service. Had suppeer there Sept 14 and were so impressed we went back for brwakfast. Service and food were jusrt as good. Huge difference from the terrible service at the West Coast Grill and Rics griĺ at the lakeside prestige where were sstaying. Avoid them like the plaque.

Carol S.

Yelp
We spent two nights at the Hume in Nelson in February. The staff was exceptional, the room clean and cozy. We had dinner at the Library Lounge beside the fireplace and loved it. Great hotel.

Travis M.

Yelp
If you like staying up until 1am in your room above a bar, then this is the place for you. If you want any sleep, or a room without base blaring through the walls then I would recommend anywhere else.
google avatar

Thomas L.

Yelp
Kitchen staff are blatantly racist, sexist, and abusive. Perfect for anyone who likes a side of casual racism with their oyster burger, or who wants to make sure their "thai chicken salad" wasn't made by any actual asians. I mean gross amiright?

Yelp
Spent the night here on the way back from Revelstoke. Pretty neat old-time atmosphere. The staff were very polite and accommodating to our group. The pub is great, we had a good time there for dinner and then caught the US / Canada Men's Hockey game the next morning. Canada won, but they were very polite about it! The breakfast that is included in the fee for the room is good. Sweet hotel and a beautiful town. Very friendly. Only complaint is that the room has really hot.

Blaise B.

Yelp
Everything, except one thing, is EXTRA SUPER GREAT in this hotel. Rooms are spacious, clean and well done. Staff is super friendly. Food is good. Everything you could want and price is a good value. All of that except that on a Friday or Saturday night, you may well not sleep because of the music from the bar. I was entirely up on the fourth floor, with the hotel-provided ear-plugs in my ears and could still both hear and feel the baseline of the music in a non-relaxing rhythm. I was also here on Thursday night and it was heaven. Friday night was St Pat's day and was even ok enough. But Saturday, just a normal Saturday night, was nuts with bass until sometimes after 1am, I lost track. So stay during the week but unless you plan to be one of the partiers on the weekend, I'd avoid Fri and Sat nights.

Dave G.

Yelp
Great location, friendly staff. Limited on-site parking. There's a pay garage next to the hotel. Renovated rooms are very nice with air conditioning and comfy mattresses. Complimentary breakfast was tasty. Biggest issue this business has? They need to figure out whether they are operating a hotel or whether they are operating a nightclub with sleeping rooms. Noise is a factor on all the floors. My other half heard negative comments from guests on the fourth floor about the boom boom boom of the bass sounds from the music that woke us up at 1:30 am in our renovated $150 plus per night second floor room. Needless to say, we were not rested the next morning.

Yelp
Nice hotel. Old style building. Choice of breakfast. Right downtown. Limited parking-which is at a premium in Nelson. Friendly staff. Reasonable rates.

Yelp
A very quaint place to eat in a very well decorated historic hotel and restaurant. My woman and I decided to look into this hotel restaurant for our upcoming wedding as we were hungry and wanting to gather additional information. The food was very well prepared and the staff was very friendly. Even though the place was packed, we only waited in line for about 10 minutes before being efficiently seated and served... and this without reservations. Despite being this busy, the staff manage to arrange for us to meet the catering manager for a brief but informative interview regarding our upcoming wedding. The price was reasonable and the ambiance was fantastic. The atmosphere is one that leaves the customer feeling like they are part of an old western. I will definitely return to this location as one does not have to stay in the hotel to enjoy a well prepared breakfast in a charming historic site.

Yelp
Great food. We were here for Sunday brunch on Thanksgiving Day. There was everything you normally see in a brunch buffet but also Turkey with all the fixins. All the food was amazing, everything we tried! They seem to have limited space in the buffet room so it's a bit cramped and has a lack of flow, a minor issue overall it was awesome!

Yelp
Great hotel and the food here is absolutely amazing and so are the staff - the pub upstairs and the restaurant downstairs is equally as good.
google avatar

Jon A.

Yelp
This place is awesome- affordable, there are three places to grab a drink or eat in it's a wonderful old building with tons of character. If you stay there, try to stay on the upper floors, my friends that were on the 2nd floor could feel the bump in the floor from the night club that had a band playing. Real friendly staff, I'll come back and stay again for sure!

Yelp
Close to everything with great food options within the the hotel itself. Eclectic charm in the buildings and rooms. Only downfall is the lack of ac in the summer and no provided parking. All the staff is friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Could not be happier with this choice of a hotel for our anniversary celebration. Our room was a Heritage King. It looked exactly as depicted on the online booking we used. Room is spacious and clearly recently renovated. Very comfortable bed with a plush mattress topper and 4 king size plump, and plumpable pillows. Room has all the usual amenities but we particularly appreciated the Kerig coffee maker, refrigerator and the wall mounted AC that was easily adjustable and was quite quiet in operation. We stayed on a Saturday night and were on the 3rd floor and were not bothered by the noise from the basement pub. We did choose to run the AC overnight rather than open the windows as we could hear voices and mechanical noises out our alley facing windows. The complimentary breakfast was another nice surprise. Not a buffet but a sit down, waitress served, made to order meal from a 4 or 5 choice menu. We were seated just ahead of a rush of diners coming in. The waitresses were clearly scrambling to accommodate everyone but they remained friendly and attentive throughout. They earned a nice tip from us!

Yelp
I'd rate this place a 4, except for my experience this evening. They had a band downstairs who did a half-hour sound check. It ruined dinner. I advise you ask if there will be a sound check during your visit, and if so, go somewhere else to eat. The noise will ruin your dinner. You must ask first.

Yelp
Had take out. Pasta was bland with rubbery mushrooms, pulled pork sandwich was 75% bun. I guess if I had a beer in my hand it would wash down but need to up there food quality.

Yelp
Weather was bad so we called from the road and got the last available room in the place for $99 plus tax. Included in the price was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. The room was small but had tons of character and a newly renovated bathroom. The only thing I would say in a negative tone is the carpet is very old and dirty looking. Maybe that's next on the Reno list. Staff are über friendly. I would gladly stay here again for a longer visit.

Yelp
What a shame. .. :( I wish I could be giving a better review BUT IT'S 2A.M. and I'm awake writing this because the music in the bar is so deafening loud my room's walls are actually vibrating! I am in a Deluxe King room, on the 3rd floor. The room is actually very nice but if you can't rest what's the point???!!! My husband and I are finally on a getaway for our anniversary, only the second time we've gotten to leave our 1 year old for some rest n relaxation.... or so we thought. Makes the fact that I'm awake writing this all the more frustrating. The hotel provides earplugs which is a nice courtesy, but even with them in, it sounds like my pillow is laying on top of a sub woofer. I hope the hotel and bar can find a better way to keep both bar patrons and hotel guests happy..Wonder if any of the bar patrons have spent $500 dollars at the property this weekend? No matter, they will go home and sleep all day, ugh! Such a shame to have this issue at such a great hotel. Be warned!!!
