Nice location right by the lake--bacon guac burger is absolutely delicious. Would try their ice cream too but we were afraid of having to use the bathroom, which we wish they had one in store for convenience. There's sitting areas outside so you can enjoy the view

Several folks told us about this place, but didn’t mention it’s in the middle of a Christian camp, so we had a bit of trouble finding it. They had to remake our food because someone took our order since the numbers couldn’t be heard outside. We enjoyed our food when we finally got it. Food is expensive ($8 for a shake), but we enjoyed eating it on the beautiful patio. The closest bathroom is a 5 minute walk across the street.

Opens at 3 pm in mid May. Beautiful view from the outdoor picnic tables.

Always a perfect place for a burger when visiting Hume. The burgers are tasty after a morning or day at the lake, for whatever reason, the milkshakes are the best and the view is second to none.

Kinda the "only game in town" if you're out at Hume Lake or this area of the National park/forest land. The food is decent, although definitely not in the top best burgers I've ever had. Haven't tried their milkshakes, yet, but they may be good? The views and scenery can be great! Be prepared, however, that the service can be quite slow when they are busy. I've waited upwards of 30-40 minutes for our order, and routinely they'll jump around numbers and appear to go out of line from when the orders were placed, so that might be frustrating for some. I think it's helpful to stress this for people trying to plan their day, expect it to take at least an hour from start-to-finish here, by the time you park, wait in line, place your order, find a table, wait for your order, etc... Another point that needs to be stressed is it seems restroom facilities are extremely limited, here! You used to be able to "sneak" up to the restrooms right at the entrance of the lodging area, next to the gas station, but those have since been out-fitted with key codes/card readers, so not open to the public. The one sole "out-house" type restroom in the day-use public parking area was essentially un-usable last time I was up, it was that dirty/gross. Also, not really a "con"-per se or any fault of the establishment, but be prepared for 0 cell service here! Just for planning purposes. I have T-Mobile, so not a big surprise, but my brother has Verizon and he didn't have any service either. So, just be prepared for that.

When we're in Hume Lake we always stop at the Snack Shop for ice cream or a burger. The food is always good and the view of the lake from the patio is beautiful.

I'm not exaggerating; their hume-ongous burger is really the best I've ever had. (Get the bbq sauce on the side and add it to your taste.) And you get to eat it in front of an amazing mountain and lake view.

Great foods near national parks!

Yelp
I didn't think you could mess up frozen food, but I was wrong. Everything was horrible, even for national park standards. Things were not cooked to the right temperature. Food took forever. Lots of tables were taken up by camp kids using their electronic devices. Even the bread on my burger I ordered was so stale. Chicken tenders tasted of freezer burn.

Yelp
Solid food considering it's in the middle of a national park. It's great that they offer a vegan option- I was told the veggie patty is vegan, so I got the veggie burger without ranch. The prices are not ridiculous and the food tastes decent. Very kid friendly. Only thing is that it took a really long time- the place was pretty empty when we ordered and it still took over half an hour for our food to be ready.

Yelp
This Snack Shop is run by the Christian Camp with the signs of this being 1) Gospel Music played in the background and 2) "Modest Dress Code" - no two piece bathing suits for women and shirts off for men only while in the water. I almost wore my bikini top and shorts and that would have been embarrassing. After a long day hiking, chicken fingers, fries, a chicken burger, and milkshake from this snack shop hit the spot. The milkshake is so thick that it's essentially ice cream (which is AMAZING if you ask me) and you can mix up to three different flavors together - delicious! The chicken burger was okay - nothing special but it hit the spot. Chicken fingers and fries also were not amazing but were good and hit the spot as well. Between the two I'd go for the chicken fingers. A good little stop the for lunch. We did the easy ~3 mile walk around the lake after lunch which was quite peaceful.

Yelp
GET THE TERIYAKI BURGER AND SPICY CHICKEN SANDWICH. A solid burger joint with decent prices and fast moving lines. I regret not getting a milkshake because practically everyone got a milkshake with their order. For the spicy chicken sandwich, they use a panko-crusted chicken patty that reminds me of elementary school lunches. It was nostalgic and delicious! Chili cheese fries were also tasty.

Yelp
Great Lake food, humeungous burgers and fries do not disappoint. Corn dogs and chicken strips are a hit with the grands.

Yelp
We love Hume! The Snack Shop always has the best burgers and seasoned fries! In the off-season you can get coffee there too. Glad this place was open while we visited for the Marriage Retreat. Yum yum!

Yelp
The greatest burger of all time. Get a hume burger with grilled jalapeños and grilled onions. It will seriously change your life. It changed mine.

Yelp
Awesome little place to grab burgers, chicken strips, fries, shakes and ice cream. Staff was friendly and food came quickly. The chicken strips were really good and so were the seasoned fries. My pup loved the pup patties :-)

Yelp
Great to have this spot here. The kids there are always super friendly and its a nice break from the twisties. It would be great to get more seating because when its busy, its kind of hard to find a spot to sit down. Gas is expensive and theres only diesel and lowgrade gas. Other than that, its a sweet stop on your way in the park.

Yelp
The best burger, fries and shake in all of Kings Canyon. Not to mention an incredible view while you eat your meal on the large outdoor patio. This place is packed with campers from Hume Lake all summer long but have a little patience, it's well worth the wait. Your best best is to grab your meal in the evening when most of the youth camp kids are at their dining hall meal. I'm a sucker for the Teriyaki Burger and Fries and the shakes are stellar too! I can easily eat here 3 days in a row and still be well satisfied with simple yet right-on-point food.

Yelp
Everyone should visit Hume's Snack Shop. The food is amazing and the employees are full of joy. They work hard to make the best food possible, and their milkshakes are all made with love. So thankful for this place and the way Jesus is using it to spread the joy of the gospel.

Yelp
Best shakes within 100 miles. Friendliest staff within 300 miles. Been visiting this spot for over 30 years. It keeps delivering!

Yelp
The chili cheese fries, corn dogs, and shakes were SO GOOD. My cousins loved the chicken strips and my partner liked his teriyaki burger as well.
