On the Grid : Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous

"Artisan ice cream is everywhere in San Francisco these days. And while there's plenty to be said for crazy experimental flavors, sometimes you just want a scoop of vanilla. Luckily, at this always-busy scoop shop, you don't have to choose. Unique flavors like Black Lychee Tea and French Lavender share menu space with go-to favorites like Just Chocolate and Sweet Cream. Don't miss the non-frozen treats too—the housemade sour mango licorice is incredible." - Hearsay Supper Club

On the expensive end, but the seasonal flavours are pretty good. This store is decently quiet and it's a nice place to stop at if you're around the area. I got the peanut butter curry and pink Jesus this time. Highly recommend the pink Jesus if you're a fan of fruity ice creams. It's zesty, sour, and got this really nice sharp tang to it. The peanut butter curry was interesting for the first bite since I didn't know what to expect, but then it just tasted like sugar and milk, so 🤷. Between this and the other popular chain, salt and straw, this spot has more low-key seasonals and the sugar levels are a bit more toned down. Salt and straw still slaps occasionally with their wild creations though!

We went into the shop 25 min before closing. While we were ordering, the other staff person put up all the seats. Two women were sitting at a table chatting. I asked if I could put two chairs down so we could sit and enjoy our scoops. We were told, "the seating is currently closed." +2 starts because secret breakfast is still pretty good, though overall the ice cream is not how I remember it. The other staff person was friendly who served us and provided samples

Excellent range of flavors! The coconut cranberry and matcha cookies and cream are my favorite, but the peanut butter curry is also interesting since it has actual cumin in it too

The ice cream is good. Good ice cream, but not great. The pricing is pretty insane given the portions and (lack of) service. $10 for a thrown-together “sundae” with less than a full scoop of ice cream, while being talked down to when I asked what comes in a sundae? Rough. It was delicious, but that plus a single scoop in a waffle cone running $9 also makes this a tough place to visit more than once. Secret Breakfast was a favorite, but it wasn’t life-changing. Fine for a special treat, but maybe not again.

Google
This place built its business on a clever flavor called Secret Breakfast. But marketing can only take you so far. I recently had a single scoop of malted chocolate ($6.50!) which was like ice milk - shards of ice, thin, melty, and not creamy at all.

Google
The newest HS scoop shop. Dogpatch. Great, wacky flavors with a nice mix of classics. Cherry Elderflower with Chocolate Chips is delicious. It’s vegan! Coconut milk in it. Grand opening 5/30/23. Free ice cream with a suggested donation to Project Open Hand, a non-profit feeding people and providing meals to senior centers. Great ice cream + great cause!

Wow!! Stumbled upon one of the best ice cream places we’ve yet to try! This specific location is located right inside the main entrance of the Ferry Building to the left - right across from the other soft serve ice cream place. We tried their vanilla and Viet coffee ice cream flavors - just a taste test and instantly fell in love. The line was long and we were curious as to why everyone gravitated to this spot and thankfully the line moved quickly to our turn. Staff was friendly and patient as we tried several flavors and none of them disappointed! Definitely recommend a taste here if you’re into sweets and looking for something cold!

I loved this location and the flavours are delicious. Get something chocolatey or their peanut butter flavour with fudge. Earl grey is also a hidden gem.

Yelp
Was looking for late night dessert and accidentally discovered that there was a Humphry Slocombe in Dogpatch. We got a scoop each of the secret breakfast and dark chocolate sea salt, in a cup and cone respectively. The individual who helped us was super friendly, helpful and patient as we (actually just me) were being indecisive. It's a corner store on 3rd, and the time of day we went meant that parking can be hit or miss. Going back the next time an ice cream craving hits :)

Yelp
Spacious location! You really can't go wrong with a nice scoop of Tahitian Vanilla. Simply delicious. Perfectly creamy and this is the most reliable option everytime I come here. Always hits the spot! Other popular flavors are the Matchadoodle and Cornflake Crunch! A double scoop is about $8-9, so pretty steep pricing... but the quality is definitely there. The girl who scooped my order was very generous and the scoop was significantly bigger than the cup!

Yelp
Super friendly workers and small amount of seating inside. Open pretty late so perfect for a late night treat near the Mission Bay area. Sizable scoops and you get to try samples too! Peanut butter fudge ripple was really good :)

Yelp
So glad they opened a Humphry Slocombe closer to me! They're in a location that was formerly two other ice cream shops (Mr and Mrs Miscellaneous and Sunday Gather) so hopefully this one lasts! It's right next to the piers so you can take a walk along the water with your cone. And it's always sunny on the eastside! I usually go for my favorite Secret Breakfast or anything with Peanut Butter. My sister tried the Rose' which tasted too much like the wine. Make sure you try the flavors first! They can get funky.

Yelp
New scoop shop for Humphrey Slocombe! Dogpatch area. Close to UCSF. Took over the Mrs & Mr Miscellaneous shop. I got the Cherry Elderflower with chocolate chips. It's vegan. Not too sweet!

Yelp
* good ice cream * New space, can sit about 15 people * Lines not too long (yet) * They need to introduce more flavors regularly. Flavors are kinda limited.

Yelp
A new ice cream shop in Dogpatch. Humphry Slocombe has unique flavors including McEvoy Vinegar and Oil, Fireball Whiskey and Red Hots, Secret Breakfast, and others. You can taste before choosing your ice cream. My friend and I tried the Honey Graham and the Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple. The vanilla ice cream was creamy and sweet with delicious chunks of graham cracker and fudge. I thought it was a little pricey ($6.25 for one scoop) but worth the treat. There's plenty of seats to enjoy the ice cream inside the store and the staff was friendly.

Yelp
So happy there's a location here at Dogpatch where it tends be the sunnier side of SF. Came here on a Friday and there was a decent amount of people but the line goes somewhat quickly. Staff is incredibly friendly and encourages you to try their flavors before you commit. I have my go-tos and their quality is always consistent! Recommend: Secret breakfast Honey graham Vietnamese coffee

Yelp
I visited this Humphry Slocombe location in San Francisco on a Sunday afternoon. There was a few people in line, but the wait wasn't bad at all. I had the opportunity to sample their flavors, some of which are fairly unique to Humphry Slocombe. Of all the flavors, I went with a single scoop of Peanut Butter Fudge Ripple. It was AMAZING. Although, i wish i tried the other flavors; secret breakfast was one of the popular options according to the staff members. Unfortunately, a single scoop here is simply one flavor. They don't do half scoops. Tables are clean and the store is well kept. I found parking one block away. Check this place out!

Yelp
I am a huge fan of Humphry Slocombe ever since I tried them a LONG time ago. It's nice to see them open up more locations and their ice cream available now in grocery stores. However, nothing beats going into a store and getting to try different flavors and getting the one you want. Which for me was a ...giant sundae with Machadoodle (yum) and Death by Chocolate with extra fudge and whipped cream. Don't judge me ok...let me live people.

Yelp
AMBIANCE The lighting is excellent. The big glass windows allow sunlight to shine through, glowing the room. The lights are very nice and everything in the shop organized. SERVICE The service was good. The server was polite and quick with her actions. Overall the service here was really good. FOOD The ice cream is delicious. I tried the spiced pear and Vietnamese coffee. They both tasted very good. I highly recommend this place for others who enjoy ice cream.

Yelp
Just visited this location and first i gotta say the customer service provided by Jordan was outstanding. it was our first time here, when asked what flavors he would recommend he literally broke down all the flavors then gave us his personal recommendation. His 3 he recommended is what we got. Cousin got Secret Breakfast my brother got Pink Jesus and I got the Cornflake Crunch definitely our recommendations as well.

Yelp
Humphry Slocombe is one of my favorite ice cream spots in the city. This particular location just opened in the Dogpatch, in the former Mr. and Mrs. location. You will find all the typical flavors you will love - I went with a fruit cocktail and Malibu rum flavor that was delicious. My second choice was the Cherry Elderflower. Service was top-notch on grand opening day - servers were extra patient with everyone trying flavors and we all left with smiles on our faces.

Yelp
I absolutely love Humphrey's. Always loved Humphrey. Frequent their Mission location and stoked they have a Dogpatch location near us, especially because we always get pints! Came during soft opening and they were awesome. Got that tumeric chai flavor to try something new and it was delicious. So creamy! Like, the best type of creamy. Also came during grand opening for a free scoop and the quality...chef's kiss!

Yelp
Dinner at Wooly Pig and after dinner treat here. Two couples and we figured each couple Ordering a double was more cost effective than each of us ordering a single. Sis and brother in law ordered the Vietnamese Coffee and Peanut Butter something ice cream and we ordered The vegan Cherry something g and fruit cocktail boozie (has a bit of alcohol) and both with toasted marshmallow (must have), all flavor's scrumptious but everyone unanimously tagged the vegan ice cream as the #1 for the evening. The little chocolate chips and coconut flakes added a texture and bite that was perfect along with the subtle tartness of the cherry! Love this place. Quick friendly service, fun playlist and constant flow of customers on a Friday night!

Yelp
I am not impressed. The ice cream place that was there before was SO MUCH BETTER. They had "Frozen" movie ice cream, which was blue and my toddler loved it of course. I tried vanilla and chocolate, tastes not so good, too sweet and not to my taste for sure. The manager of the store was a bit uptight both times. I blame it on the fact that the place was just opened she probably has a lot on her plate. Anyway the whole experience with this place wasn't impressive. But I wish them luck and hopefully they can change some things in time. Personally NOT MY THING for sure

Yelp
Awesome addition to the dogpatch. Right by souvla, dogpatch boulders the ice cream is as expected delicious. Service like their other spots are welcoming and friendly. Flavors are consistent and delicious. As someone who lives in the neighborhood I'm very happy about this spot.

Yelp
The Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous ice cream shop that used to be here was better. These are just the same flavors you can get at any Humphry Slocombe, while Mr. and Mrs. Miscellaneous were constantly changing things up and had a good variety. They've also moved the tables around so you have to walk through the whole store to order, and the tables are located in the middle of the store, not by the windows. Three stars because the Black Sesame I got had good texture, but was really light on the actual black sesame flavor.
