Humpty Doo Hotel

Love love love this pub. This is the second time we have visited NT from Victoria and we made sure we returned to the Humpty Doo pub. We had the best afternoon drinking ice cold beers listening to great music (thanks Daryl) and simply enjoying the atmosphere. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. I will say however if you are pretentious and a little highly strung this place is not for you.

Iconic Humpty Doo Hotel. If you grew up rural this is probably like any other pub except sure can walk in with thongs etc. it’s great experience smashing some grub and drinking a cold one and it goes from dry to sudden thunderstorm and rain. For me though unfortunately it fell short from the food. My partner was fine however I fell very ill 15mins after eating and had to go and throw up. Not sure what it was but the buffalo sausage was something I’ve never tried so maybe it didn’t agree with me. My partner had some and was fine. The food was fine though. Nothing super special just good old pub food that comes out quick.

Looking for the perfect Aussie pub in the middle of nowhere, then here is your place.. It's a perfect pub for a cold beer and a big meal on a hot day. If you wanna sit and have a quite one or get on it with some mates there is no better place in the surrounding area!

Just had dinner and drinks. Nice selection of beer, the food was okay. Mixed grill had a selection of gator, water buffalo, pork, and fish good way to try a few different meats

What a legend of a place. A small taste of an outback Aussie pub, a civilized 30 minute drive from Darwin. I kid you not when I say these were the best panko crumbed Barramundi I've ever had. Sitting with a well priced, non-alcoholic beer and watching the locals was a joy. Loved this crazy place :)

Simply iconic: the place, the history, the menu, the atmosphere, the climate, the people, the road trains occasionally rumbling past outside, the everything. Have you really been to Darwin if you haven't paid a visit to the Humpty Doo Hotel?

Absolutely the best and most authentic Australian pub I've ever had the privilege to drink at (and I've been to a few) not just a must while in Darwin but a must if you are breathing oxygen!!!

Well another iconic pub! How do places become "iconic"? It was a Wednesday lunch time that I called in for a meal & through my eyes it could have been any ol pub on any street corner in Australia. Nothing stood out, nothing said I'm special for any reason. But it was busy, meals didn't take to long to collect after placing an order. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary Iconic means: very famous or popular! So I guess it is iconic. Still I didn't see anything that makes it famous or popular.

Kitchen is open from 10am to 9pm 7 days a week. The food was delicious, the menu is extensive they have souvenirs and where else can you eat a burger with the lot and listen to Robbie Williams at the same time... not many i bet. Come have a drink, eat some good food and chat it up with the locals.

Arrived mid afternoon and as such were the only customers in the restaurant so service was, as you would expect, very prompt. We ordered a dozen natural oysters to start, they were presented nicely enough and were acceptable but they weren't chilled (closer to room temperature) and as such did not come across as being as fresh as you would like. For mains we had the chicken parmigiana and the Humpty Doo mixed grill, both served with chips and a small salad. The chicken parmigiana was a large serving and the chicken was nice and juicy. The mixed grill was also a decent sized serving, it was advertised as having buffalo, crocodile, marinated pork ribs and barramundi. The barramundi and the (boneless) ribs were nice, I was disappointed to find that the buffalo and the crocodile were only burger style patties, but they tasted OK. The selection of wines was very small and disappointing considering that this is a pub and bottle shop. The menu is very limited with not much in the way of options, but it is good pub fare and is pretty much presented as such and is reasonable value for money.

Nothing to complain about with this place. Love their food, their staff are friendly. All around great!
