"At Hunan you don’t choose the menu, the menu chooses you. While that sounds a little like J.R.R Tolkien might be the restaurateur behind this place, it just means this is a no-menu Chinese restaurant. This Belgravia spot has a ‘trust us’ policy and the results are excellent. Deep-fried green beans, crispy pork, duck pancakes, and banana fritters with ice cream. It’s Cantonese food in a finishing school environment." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"Hunan is one of the ultimate ‘if you know, you know’ restaurants in London. The Chinese fine dining restaurant is discretely located on the Belgravia side, with a ‘trust me’ tasting menu situation. Just tell them what you don’t like and they’ll do the rest. We’ve tried incredible prawn toast and crispy duck here, along with spicy pork that arrives on your plate in a bag. It’s a great shout for lunch, but ask for the seats closest to the window as the back of the restaurant can feel a bit cramped." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna

"At Hunan in Victoria, you don’t need to worry about anything because you won’t know what you’re getting until it arrives at the table. This old-school, classy Chinese restaurant operates a ‘trust us’ menu where you tell them your dietary requirements, preferred spice level, and, you know, that you hate coriander, and they’ll do the rest. The lunchtime menu is £69.80, while the evening menu will set you back £119.80. And there must be a minimum of two diners. But it’s worth it as we’ve never had a bad meal here. The crispy fried pork in a bag is especially joyful." - jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak
"Our nans used to tell us that you shouldn’t worry about things you can’t change. They also used to tell us not to pee in the bath, so as you can tell, they’re pretty wise. This place operates on a ‘trust us’ menu where you simply tell them your dietary requirements, preferred spice level, and, you know, that you hate coriander, and they’ll do the rest.
