Family-friendly outdoor activities in Hong Kong to thrill your kids

"A laidback, car-free island known for its fishing history, craft shops, bookstores and cafes along a narrow main street and numerous open-air restaurants serving fresh seafood. Families can enjoy the white sands of Hung Shing Yeh Beach and tackle the relatively easy, scenic 5 km Lamma Island Family Trail that links two piers and offers pleasant coastal views." - Joy FangandCraig Sauers

May2025 Popular beach in Lamma with shark net protection. Not the best beach in terms of habitat and environmental health but well maintained and monitored

Pretty well maintained beach with proper bathing and toilet facilities. Surrounding is clean with a number of shops and eateries. Sand is fine and water is calm at time of visit. A perfect place for family and friends to chill over some snacks and drinks.

The most visited beach on Lamma Island. Didn't see washed up rubbish on the beach. The water is an olive green and a bottle murky, but little rubbish floating around. There are washing and changing facilities, benches to sit on, restaurants, places that rent beach essentials, and lifeguards. It's one of the nicest and cleanest beaches I've been to in Hong Kong

Had a fun time with my come. Best time to swim is early morning. Lot of insects though. The beach was full of trash. I gope it could be cleaner.

I went on the weekday. So there aren’t many people. Peaceful beach. Good for visiting if you want to escape from the city.

Nice place to chill, but the beach is closed during winter, so you cant swim.

Beautiful and unspoiled beach with life guards on site, changing areas, showers and some restaurants/ snack/ drinks shop. It is a 20 minutes walk from the village thru the tropical forest. You do have wild snakes here, worth staying in the tracks. Once on the beach is so relaxing and safe, as they installed shark protective nets in the water to allow safe bathing and swimming. The Power Station dominates The landscape on the right, just make sure you look left and gaze at the clean waters. I didn't continue the walk, but you can access the other port and return to HKG Island or Stanley. To me, walking on the protected village, and reaching the beach is a good day out.
