Hungry Moose Market and Deli on the Mountain

Hungry Moose Market & Deli in Big Sky was my go-to spot the entire trip. Reasonable prices, a solid selection, and perfect for groceries or last-minute items we forgot. It’s right in the village, super convenient, and just a really cute store with a great small-town feel. This became my daily coffee stop—they opened early, stayed open late, and the staff was always friendly and welcoming. Whether it was coffee, snacks, or grabbing something quick, Hungry Moose never disappointed. Couldn’t say enough good things about it. If you’re staying in Big Sky, this place is a must. Loved it. ☕🦌

Great little store to visit before you go to your airbnb or the mountain. Lots of stuff to choose from including a deli. Be prepared as everything is very expensive. Cashiers could be a little friendlier. But that’s not what you come here for.

If you are looking for a quick bite or snack at BS, this is the place. It's quick and simple that allows you to get back out on the hill without having to wait in line at more of the full serve type eateries at BS They offer up snacks, small bites (chili dogs etc) and drinks and misc other food. Dine N' Dash of sorts but the people working here are nice and keep the line along If you want more of a sit down place with table and chairs, cafeteria etc...this is not your place (head back upstairs for that)

Glad it’s there or otherwise you’re stuck with a $30 burger all the time. Pricey but appropriate for where you are. Quite a few and tasty quick lunch/dinner options besides regular groceries. All some pertinent ski stuff like hand warmers

I worked here. Guys, buy the grab and go, burrito or Biscuits sand. ( by 9 it's wiped out). Check out the menu and order ahead. Staff- fantastic.

TLDR; the grocers DEMAND TIPS, and they will guilt you if don’t tip them. First of all, I walked up to a register and the clerk slammed a “register closed” sign in my face and walked away. He could’ve spoken to me but didn’t. So I go to the next register and after all of my stuff is scanned, I’m greeted with a tip screen. What service did you provide? I had to carry my own groceries, no one will speak to me that’s stupid. So I click on the no tip option. Then the guy asked me, “oh you’re gonna do cash?” ?!?!?!?! Maybe it’s because I’m not from here, but I find this unacceptable for a grocery store. I didn’t tip them because no employee in that store needs me to pay them. Management, please retrain or FIRE them. Also please have a dress code so I don’t look at a man’s muffin top demanding I tip them. I will never go back to this sleazy establishment. How do you get a GROCERY STORE wrong?!

Good staff with fair prices for the Big Sky area. Great alternative to driving down the mountain for basic goods and beer/wine. Breakfast and lunch selections are tasty and of better quality than most small convenient stores.

We pulled into Big Sky after a very long two days of traveling, little did we know that most restaurants were closed or slammed due to a major shortage of help. This place saved everyone’s sanity just in the nick of time. The place has fresh produce, gluten free options and a variety of food/snack items for such a compact space. The prices were very reasonable. They also have a nice wine/beer selection, which was definitely needed.

This store has eggs, yogurt, bread, sandwich meat, chips, pre made items, fruit, some vegetables, pain medicine, drinks, pans to cook with, and so much more. It is pricey, but if you forgot something a very much needed market for the area. The raspberries I bought were 6.99 and the strawberries were 5.99. Greek yogurt about 2.50. Many of the breakfast restaurants only sell breakfast sandwiches, so this was nice to grab a yogurt and fruit.

Lots of liquor and the only store at the resort but it does have most of the essentials you need. Like I said lots of liquor

A nice little one stop shop at the base of Big Sky. Limited selection, but they have pretty much everything you need to survive. Food, alcohol, meds, and energy drinks. Staff is nice and helpful as well.

Paid for two 16 Oz lavender lattes. This is what I received. 16oz and a 12oz. Asked the lady who made them for me and her response was they are both the same amount just less milk. I walked out thinking I Paid for 2 16oz. I don't care if one has less milk than the other. What happened to just saying my bad, let me fix that for you!!!

Went in to Hungry Moose today at 3:30. The store was absolutely empty. I tried to order a smoothie and a coffee. The staff was RUDE RUDE RUDE. Guy in deli said that they closed at 2 because they were short staffed and literally said " can't help you - bye" Never been tested so poorly. They lost me and my family as a customers.

Can't beat Hungry Moose for convenience. Not big, but they have almost everything you need - grocery items, chap stick, local craft beer, wine, food, drinks, and even a nice deli for quick, tasty sandwiches, etc. Best of all, the prices are actually very reasonable. Definitely worth a stop.

This is a very well stocked slope side grocery store in the Big Sky Ski Village. It was very convenient with a decent selection of groceries considering how small the store was. They did a good job of packing the shelves with options for those staying in the village area. The prices are a little high, about 30%-50% higher, but the convenience was worth the money. If you need to do a big shopping trip with a large family, it might be worth it to go to a larger grocery store. This was perfect for my wife and me to get a few things during our sky trip. The deli is really small with limited options, but the food did look good and fresh. With some many options to eat in the area, this place serves as a great place to pick up a few things for your condo!

Great market with a super deli! Wine and beer selection was wonderful as well! The gift shopping was great as well.

I love the Hungry Moose! Their BLT with avocado is delicious, and it's the perfect sandwich coming home from work. And the employees are always so nice!

Today (July 4th 2020) I just stepped into the new normal at the Hungry Moose Market and Deli in Big Sky Montana. I called in a phone order for a couple of sandwiches at the deli. When I went in to pick them up A man with a beard approached me and handed me a mask. I politely said no thank you I don't need one. He started to raise his voice and told me I had to wear one. Again I said no. I told him I am not eating here I just want to pick up the food I had ordered and leave. I Stood in line to get my food. After a few minutes he approached me again and demanded that I wear his mask. Now the answer was a resounding NO! I Will Not. As the entire deli was now staring at him I asked him what he thought that mask represented to me. He replied a smarmy tone "repression? " I said "no communism ". He told me I had to wait outside for my food. This brought to mind the history of our country making black people set in the back of the buss, drink out of different water fountains, and refusing service to them. It's sad that on America's birthday here we are in the same place we were 70 years ago.

Don't bother going in unless you are wearing a mask. Even after mandates have been dropped. Clearly this place doesn't respect freedom of choice. As we were perusing the store, lady behind the deli counter commented to her co-worker, "and just like that no one's wearing a mask." Then proceeded to tell us they couldn't serve us coffee because they were short staffed and they now close at 2pm. (Even though the sign on the door says the deli is open until 6pm.) Smells like discrimination to me.

This is THE place to hit on the mountain for a quick lunch. It, by far, has the best quick food in the lodge. Including drinks, and everything you might need, ice cream, Tylenol, bandaids! Run downstairs and check this moose out before you order anywhere else!

Okay they get three stars because they are so slow. Love the food. Cute deli and great wine selection. Seriously plan on waiting no matter the time of day or line!!

Great Reuben sandwich and salad. Wide variety of sandwiches, wraps and salads. Pleasant staff. Will return soon.

This is your basic "oh shit kit" on vacation. Quick grabs for forgotten toiletries, beers in your room, last minute gifts, and snacks. Deli counter where you can order a made to order sandwich or grab and go if you please. Seating available outside to eat your sandwich, and a little table with games for kiddos. Got exactly what we needed in a quick and timely manner.

Called ahead to get breakfast Sammy's one morning before hiking. Made sure to remind me this was the resort location, which is exactly what I wanted but thought that was nice they asked. My husband loved the trout bfast bagel (when in Rome...) while I stuck to the egg and cheese and it was also excellent. Very nice shop and opens early which is nice.

Hungry Moose Deli is a great place to grab something quick... but don't expect them to carry exactly what you are looking for. For example, they pretty much just carry "junk" cereal and oreos as cookies. Friendly staff that will quickly offer to help you find what you are looking for.

The owners should be embarrassed. It's amazing they are even in business. 30 minute wait for 1 grilled cheese sandwich. The workers literally have no sense of urgency, even with a line of 20 people waiting to order. Food is fine - for sandwiches and salads. Don't eat here unless you're not that hungry and have nothing else to do.

This market and deli has everything you need in an average convenient store. The food at the deli is fresh with tons of options for sandwiches. The employees were very friendly and checked us out without no wait!
