We stayed here for one night and upgraded to a private cabin on site. The gentleman running the office was very nice, friendly, and accommodating. The cabin is absolutely lovely, and thanks to the space heater we also had no issues with temperature. Plenty of power outlets available, too. The bathroom is a bit tight, especially the sink and shower, larger people might have some problems here. We’re only partway through our trip but I’m confident already that staying here was a highlight as the remote cabin feeling is just wonderful.

Excellent, especially for a cozy family bonding experience without camping in a tent or van/ campsite/ camper. The staff was great! The breakfast was so good!

When we got to our cozy cottage in Hunkubakkar we felt the heating which was really nice because it was cold outside. The beds were soft and plushy, and though the bathroom was tight it worked out perfectly. The breakfast was awesome, and so was the beautiful canyon that was minutes away from the site.

The room was small but enough for the night. They are really nice there and it is very quiet and if the sky is clear you can see the northern lights. Also very close to the canyon. Points to improve: quality of the mattress and just adding eggs to the breakfast would be really nice 😊

Our little cabin was snug and quiet in the strong winds. It was simple.||The staff here were exceptional and the food in the restaurant for supper was superb. The lamb was a large serving with an excellent mushroom sauce. The char too was fine. ||Breakfast was ordinary but filling.

We stayed here 2 nights as part of our Nordic visitor road trip.|The positives of this property are the great customer service and idyllic rural location. The staff are very welcoming and provided efficient service for check in and follow ups.|We prearranged a twin room months before our stay which didn’t eventuate. We ended up sharing another cabin with strangers rather than our accompanying family members.( there are two rooms per cabin with a shared bathroom).|The cabins are very basic and the walls are paper thin so you hear people next door, especially if they check in late ( as was our experience).|I guess because our previous Nordic visitor hotels were so good, that this one was a bit of a let down.|However saying this, the rooms were warm and clean and if you like the hiking hut feel, then this property will be suitable.|The breakfast was adequate but very limited in selections. Dinner was very rustic and delicious but expensive for what you got. I had their lamb which was great and also the Arctic char which was nice but very small in portion size.|I suggest eating at VIK if you want a more comprehensive menu as there seemed to be heaps of good restaurants and boutique brewery type eateries there. It’s about 30 minutes drive from this property.|To summarise, basic accomodation, good location, nice staff.

Cozy cabin that was just-right for 2 adults and our 9-year-old. Comfy beds, very clean, and quiet surroundings. Cold continental breakfasts were adequate. Staff members were pleasant and friendly. We usually don’t visit the Golden Circle, opting for less touristy regions of Iceland, but if we do return, we would stay at Hunkubakkar again.

What a charming cottage to stay in outside the city! We loved our stay here. Beautiful countryside rooms and view. Felt like a fairytale. We only stayed one night but wished We could stay more. Breakfast was plenty and in a beautiful room.
