Lovely "old world without being patronising " experience. Old fashioned elegance and politeness. Staff are delightful. Food is hearty and scrumptious. Lovely flavours without being too fussy. We appreciated our comfortable undisturbed sleep. Elegant gardens and plenty to do and see in the locality. Thumbs up!

The present owners have been running this hotel since 1820. The decor is very traditional and a lot of the furniture looks as though it dates from William 4th and the early Victorian period. Rooms are large and comfortable with modern comforts such as duvets and efficient WiFi. The hotel is well kept and scrupulously clean. There is no tv in the hotel but the guests are so friendly that one easily makes friends in the 1940s style bar which has two open fires, the drawing room and the garden where afternoon tea is served on fine days. The garden is stunning with attractive lawns and borders as well as the kitchen garden which supplies food and flowers for the hotel- all the bedrooms, dining room, drawing room and the wide corridors have lovely vases of flowers.|The staff are universally charming and efficient. The food and dinner and breakfast is excellent.|There’s lots to do in the locality and the hotel is just about an hour from Dublin ferry terminal.|We have stayed at this lovely place three times and look forward to our next visit .

Arriving at Hunter's Hotel is different - it's not your regular hotel, and the normal star system feels ill-fitted to denote it. As you walk in, you follow a 300 year old tradition of travellers availing of a safe & comfortable haven. The staff are, without exception, welcoming in an informal way that feels genuine, Irish, and exactly right. Everything feels a little worn around the edges, and for sure it could do with a bit of TLC like the best of us, but the comfort is deep, the fires lit, and the food delicious with the best of home-cooked and home-grown fare. The gardens are lovely for morning coffees, afternoon teas, and evening apéros. The beds are comfy, and the showers strong. Good bones. Go :)

This is one of my favourite places for afternoon tea (never stayed so cannot say anything about the rooms but suspect they have a old world irresistable charm, as the whole place does!). It feels like you are stepping back 150 years into the Victorian era. The garden is wonderful! Go before its is overtaken by the modern age . . .

We dropped in with no reservation on Sunday last and had afternoon tea in front of a roaring fire. We were presented with 4 flavours in beautifully fresh sandwiches, fresh scones with cream and jam, 8 decadent mini pastries and cakes, and a lemon and blackcurrant posset oozing with flavour. All washed down with a perfect pot of tea. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful, and it was a perfect visit. Than you team Hunters.

I’ve stayed here several times over the years, as have my family, and it’s always a pleasure to come back. Hunter's has a real old-world charm. It’s not flashy, but the food is always delicious and the service is friendly. A lovely spot, very close to Dublin.

This is my favourite hotel in Ireland. It feels like stepping back in time in a good way. I love all the old furniture and the books. My kids were fascinated by the sash windows and enjoyed petting the cat and exploring the gardens. The food was great too, the buttery mash the porridge that amazed my kids. The only downside was that the vegetables with dinner were bit old school and didn't match how fantastic the rest of the food was.

Beautiful and charming old style hotel and restaurant. The restaurant is open for lunch on the weekends and high tea is available every day. The gardens are absolutely stunning and service is very lovely. The high tea experience is a real treat, sandwiches and cakes, scones and tea or coffee or prosecco. A real lovey treat in a beautiful setting. The hotels also offers rooms with breakfast options. Tranquil setting.

Yelp
Step back in time to this wonderfully snug hotel in Wicklow. I booked afternoon tea here for my mum and grandmother one afternoon. Upon booking they advised they don't sit afternoon tea until 4pm but as it was quiet they'd accommodate us at 2pm. We were brought into the front room where the real open fire was lighting and which looked out into the gardens. Unfortunately it was raining so we didn't walk around. The afternoon tea was gorgeous, a lovely treat, service & staff were lovely, didn't over crowd us and left us in peace to enjoy our treats! Have heard good reviews about their lunches, would be interested in going back to check it out.

Yelp
The food is always superb, fresh ingredients from the kitchen garden in addition to whatever produce is local and in season. The relaxed atmosphere from the moment you arrive, it's a great break from the hustle and bustle. Arrive 30mins before dinner enjoy a drink in the bar where you will be given your menus, then you order and when dinner is ready you will be brought into the dining room. The dinner is excellent value, and there's a superb wine list to go with it and the staff are knowledgeable on this list so can help you choose. The gardens are also beautiful to sit out in on a summer day.

Yelp
Ambience is wonderful. Service is not. Sunday afternoon lunch delivered cold "hot" soup. Plates were cold, however the fresh vegetables included wonderfully hot oven baked potatoes. If you want water, buy by the bottle or order early. After four request from different staff, a jug of water was delivered to already empty glasses that were drying out naturally, after 20 minutes. Pretty gardens and glorious setting.

Yelp
We stayed at Hunters for one night only. Dinner was just ok, I didn't feel it was anything outstanding for the price charged. There was no wifi and a phone in our bedroom wasn't working (we tried to call reception). The room was dated. I understand that it supposed to have an antique feeling, but I thought it looked simply old and I couldn't understand what was all the excitement about in all the reviews I read on Tripadvisor. Breakfast was really nice (although I wished they had beans). Fruit selection was amazing. There is a little room, where guests can relax, with fireplace and some sofas and chairs. It looks cozy. The little garden is very well cared for and is lovely, but it is indeed very small. Had the weather been nice, I imagine it would be lovely to have tea outside, but we were not so lucky as it was raining cats and dogs. Overall lovely place, I just had higher expectations. Would go there for afternoon tea, wouldn't stay overnight again though.

Yelp
Beautiful Gardens, younger staff who served us were polite had two middle aged ladies who were very rude.

Yelp
Charming Old World Hotel , Very pleasant " Snug" Food is good and Wholesome, Gardens are very Pretty in the Sunshine, I like it, it is what I imagined Ireland was like many years ago. Reminds me of the Village in France where I was born. Well, that is all I have to say.

Yelp
good food, great wait staff, snooty, arrogant and inflexible ownership that brought the stereotype of the landed aristocracy to life. it was a very pretty location, very quiet and had the most beautiful of bluebells, but it didn't make up for the way we were treated and the exorbitant prices of both accommodations and food. we felt like we had very few choices: much of the place ran on the policy of "take it or leave it" and there was little else we could do. some people don't mind being ignored but we certainly did. if you don't mind, by all means go. maybe the folks who dish out a great deal of extra money for wine and beer and soda (yes, soda!) get treated better...I don't know. the experience left a terrible taste in our mouths, to speak in a metaphoric fashion.
