Excellent location for a Victoria stay! Easy walk to central areas, but on somewhat of a side street, so we never heard traffic or noise. The accommodations were very comfortable. Because we were there for five days, we opted for a room with a loft as well as a kitchen, and we were very glad that we did. It felt like a mini-apartment, and let us really settle in and not feel cramped. Nice bathroom, well-stocked kitchen, and (added bonus!) a Nespresso machine! The staff were all friendly and super helpful -- shout out to Michael at the front desk, who helped us switch rooms during check-in once we realized we wanted more space, and took the time to show us alternatives before finalizing the decision. He was truly kind, and never made us feel like a bother.||The morning breakfast is a decent spread of typical hotel choices, but felt fresh and nicely presented, and seating in the garden-facing breakfast room was lovely.||The hotel itself has beautiful grounds and gardens. All in all, a delightful stay.

Definitely a “you get what you pay for” experience! In this case, you pay for the prime location and half decent included breakfast. The rest is where you save your money. The rooms were clean enough but outdated and the service wasn’t great. No help with our bags and we weren’t close to our family, even though we called ahead to request rooms close together. No ramp once you’re inside and there are stairs. Definitely not accessible. It was just ok, besides the location. Breakfast was pretty good, better than I expected based on the rooms and other amenities.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this property. We stayed in room 238. It was very large and comfortable. Clean, quiet with very few kids while we were there. The breakfast room is run very well! It's more like a little restaurant than just a breakfast room. The food was always very good with a lot of selection. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel is close to the harbour, restaurants, things to do. Would definitely stay here again.

Google
Great experience at Huntingdon Suites. We had one if the loft rooms and it was great. A couple things to note: The Bad 1) The loft is pretty high up. Lots of stairs down to the bathroom in the middle of the night. 2) No fan in the loft area makes it difficult for the air to circulate up there. That means the AC doesn't get it very cool up there so on warmer days it's pretty warm upstairs. The great 1) The service was amazing. Such a friendly staff. 2) We arrived a few hours early (before check in) and they were more than happy to check our luggage until we were able to check in. This allowed us to walk about Victoria without the burden of our luggage. We had to check out a few hours before our ferry so they did the same on our last day. 3) The location was amazing. 5 minutes from the Black Ball ferry terminal and very close to parliament. I highly recommend a stay at the Huntingdon Suites. You won't regret it.

While the hotel is older, that only adds to the charm. Staff went above and beyond in taking care of their guests. This may be our new preferred choice to stay for our visits to Victoria. It is in a great location within walking distance of most sites, yet provides a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Wonderful complimentary breakfast.

I stayed at Huntington hotel in Victoria for 3 days and 2 nights with my wife. The location is definitely a strong point—it’s right by the harbor, which made it easy to explore the area on foot and enjoy the views. However, the overall experience could have been better. The room had a bit of a strange smell when we arrived, and it felt cold even with the heater on full. Cold air was coming through the air conditioning unit, which made the room drafty and gave me a headache in the morning. We had to sleep bundled up, and occasional noise from outside made it hard to rest fully. We were surprised there were no water bottles provided in the room, and we weren’t informed that water was available in the lobby—we only found out after buying our own. Also, when I asked the front desk for slippers, I was told someone would follow up, but no one got back to me. Another odd moment was when housekeeping entered our room without us requesting service, which was unexpected and a little uncomfortable. On the plus side, the bed itself was comfortable and we appreciated the convenient location. But for the price we paid, we expected a more polished and guest-focused experience. I’ve stayed at other hotels in similar price ranges that felt more attentive and better maintained.

Google
Located within walking distance from the Port Angeles ferry and downtown Victoria. It’s really great to come across on the ferry either by car or by foot. Either way you’re gonna really enjoy the experience. The service is excellent and they allowed us to check in early with our 10 month old baby. The breakfast was really spectacular. For the two mornings we were there. They had a variety of fruits, meats, pancakes, fresh bread, and scrambled eggs, which was included in the reservation through Black Ball Ferry. They also had really delicious coffee, tea and juices available. The room was decent however it was easy to hear other children running across the floors or banging stuff on the floor, which kind of kept me up at night. However, I can’t complain because we do have a 10 month old who likes to be loud as well. We stayed in the king size bed room with the loft and kitchenette. It was quite relaxing except for the pillows, which I could never find the correct one to use. 😅 Housekeeping came on the first day and made up the bed, changed the towels, and took out the trash, which was very nice. Thank you for the enjoyable visit.

Google
Cancelled my booking. The reservations desk was horrendous. Booked through Delta Vacations. Hotel was listed as PET FRIENDLY. IT is NOT. Only a few of the rooms are pet friendly. Reservations agent was obtuse. I finally cancelled everything. Will start over somewhere else. What a relief.

Yelp
This is an OK hotel if you are staying in Victoria. Location wise, this place is excellent. The room I was in was somewhat...well, it was just a room with a bathroom. It will do if you are a weary traveler looking for somewhere to sleep before heading out to adventures during the day. What makes this place stand out is breakfast! Wow, is all I can say about the breakfast at this place. They have sausages, eggs, a waffle maker, fruit, and pastries. This place has an excellent breakfast which makes up for the basic rooms. The location is excellent as well. The one thing I would warn people about is that if you do pay extra to park downstairs, approach the parking lot at an angle. The driveway is very steep, and I scraped the bottom of my car entering and exiting the parking lot. Or choose the free outdoor parking lot if you are not worried about crime downtown. Otherwise the staff was nice. There is no room service, but they will sell you a small bottle of wine (2 coffee cups worth!) for almost $30, so make sure you head to the liquor store before coming here if that is part of your evening.

Yelp
Our room was clean, had a small kitchenette (stove, sink, fridge and microwave) and we were lucky to have a patio (only 3 rooms have it). The kitchen faucet was a bit loose, but wasn't an issue. The hotel is quaint compared to the large hotels nearby. The staff are friendly and provides information of areas to see in Victoria. The continental breakfast had a good variety of items such as eggs, waffle machines, hashbrown, cereal, bread, muffins, fruits, yogurt, tea, coffee, and alternating between sausage/bacon/ham.

Yelp
The hotel looked a little tired. The parking lot was small and full on our second night, despite having paid for a spot. The underground parking doubled as a storage unit for tons of old furniture and mattresses. The breakfast was industrial, mass-produced stuff. It had pre-made waffles, one kind of pre-brewed tea, the muffins tasted like the kind you get individually wrapped, and the "croissants" were just bread (no flakey layers of puff pastry). I don't know if it's a Canadian thing, but there were so few TV channels to watch. Not impressed for the price they're asking.

Yelp
Had a very nice stay here. There was some confusion and frustration with our rooms not being ready for several hours after we arrived. But they gladly locked up our luggage so we could start exploring the Island. Our party of 4 had lots of questions, the two older ladies in our group needed special attention. The beds in the room were very comfortable, the bathroom had good counter space. The free breakfast buffet was very nice and well stocked. Special shout out to Gavin and Helena (sp) for a little sweet tray left in my husband and my room for the frustration. They were both very helpful during our two night stay.

Yelp
We are very impressed with the service, especially the dining stuff. (It said Hunter? ) they were friendly and professional. The dining room was well attended by Angel and Lilian who were polite and helpful. Our room was very clean and well kept. Check-in desk was busy, but no one was panicked. They kept their friendly professionalism. The old historical building was fun to be too!

Yelp
Pros: central location, breakfast included and it was very good. staff very friendly. Cons: they do not tell the type of room you'll get. I was there in August for 6 days and got an old room, not renewed, in the top floor of the hotel, room was: lower level (kitchen, bathroom and tv). a flight of stairs up: ( one small bed and bunker beds) no tv and stairs were really steep, this can be difficult for a older person or with pains in legs, and to go to the bathroom mug night you have to be careful if not completely awake!. The bathroom dosent come with the usual little e creams or soap. just the basic stuff on the shower wall. Overall the stay was okey. But I would have appreciated to be told the type of non- renovated room I got and that I paid same price as the renovated ones.

Yelp
Parking was expensive, $12 per day. The front desk was confused and called my other friend saying they'll double charge them for use of multiple spaces. Breakfast was okay. The ambience was great, but the continental breakfast was limited in terms of hot items. The biggest item was the lack of microwave in the room or a general area. We had to go down multiple times and hear food, that we had to give to the front desk as they didn't want us to use the microwave. At times we had to wait 10 mins as they were busy on a call. Not a pleasant experience esp when u have multiple boxes to heat up and dependent on someone else. To heat up my baby's milk, I had to go down, just inconvenient. In the room, the mirror was so improperly mounted, my baby was able to move it and I had to remove and keep it away for fear of it falling on her. Room was ok, older, carpets worn. There was no closet - I couldn't believe it! So we had clothes kept all over, and there were no drawers as well. Painting was ongoing so extremely dusty. It's located near to inner harbor. Only pro and reason to recommend. Wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
Our second trip in three months! Why would anyone stay anywhere else? it is clean, safe, beautifully decorated without being pretentious, centrally located and some of the kindness staff you will ever meet. After 20 countries, 50 states and 3 provinces this is easily one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.

W K.

Yelp
We're just checking in, and we're impressed by the outstanding service, and the hospitality of Jaycel, Patricia, and Hanna at the reception, and Ana and Mireya (Room Service).

Yelp
I gave this a 1 star for location only! We stayed here as it was pet friendly. Not at all! Can't take dog anywhere inside except directly outside. Do you want bkfst in the rain???? Here is the best part! Had to put up $150 deposit and puppy can't stay in room alone even if in a crate! Nothing was on website disclosing any of this. It did appear like giving a puppy package was inviting although we got no package. Lastly they gave us a parking space in garage already given to someone else. Then they called at 10 pm after we were in bed asking us to move car so a tech could work in gate! Stay someplace else!

Yelp
We reserved a king bed room, NOT a two twin bed room. Our room was not ready at 4 PM, so we returned later in the evening and were greatly disappointed to discover that we had been downgraded to a two twin bed room without compensation; I paid for a more expensive king bed room, NOT a dual twin bed room. An offer for complementary breakfast upgrade was made but we have other breakfast plans off-site. The twin beds are extremely uncomfortable, and need to be replaced. We had great customer service before, this time we were greatly disappointed.

Yelp
Location,Location...We booked Huntingdon Manor with our Victoria Clipper package. What a lovely hotel.Within walking distance of many attractions(Parliament Building,Victoria Harbor,Royal Museum BC),just to name a few.Literally across the street from the Victoria Clipper landing! Our room was more then spacious with a kitchenette area.I couldn't believe how well stocked the kitchen was.Plates, cups, utensils, cutlery etc....One of the most comfortable beds and linens (no scratchy linens here)!Spacious bathroom with a very sufficient amount of towels. Our room was a little chilly when we arrived. We couldn't figure out how to turn off the AC and crank up the heater. We asked the housekeeping staff for help and the lady immediately assisted in getting us comfortable. The daily breakfast was a huge spread!Eggs, meat, breads, fruits, pastries, coffee, tea, juices. No way anyone was leaving hungry in the morning if they had breakfast at Huntingdon Manor. The front desk, housekeeping and wait staff were professional, polite. We decided to purchase tickets for the Royal Museum BC thru the front desk. The front desk lady was more then accommodating. On the day that we were checking out,I accidentally dropped my Passport Card into the room key drop box(I didn't realize what I had done)!Between Huntingdon Manor and The Victoria Clipper people,I was reunited with my Passport Card.Thank you Huntingdon Manor for making our stay in Victoria,Canada pleasant and memorable!!D.Wyman

Yelp
We had a reservation for a few days and this place sucks. It's a total dump compared to how they present it online. The pictures they post and show You tube videos are of the Pendray Inn and I thought we'd be staying in one of the few rooms in that hotel or inn or whatever. The building you end up in is some old crappy place and is small and stuffy. Even though it seems average, you just end up wanting to see it as much less because of all the misleading pictures and information. The Pendray Inn is the old historic looking building. This building still has "Ramada Huntingdon" on a plaque next to the elevators. They'll accept your luggage if your room is not ready like they advertise but that procedure involves one of the staff merely waving to some alcove off the foyer where you can roll your luggage and walk away. You can come back later and get it along with other guests' luggage and walk off and no one will know...It is THAT secure. Your luggage is actually more secure on a crowded railway platform in India because there are literally more eyes on it...Here there are zero...What a joke ! The rooms come with literally no amenities except for toilet paper and towels and a bar of hand soap the size of one of those Andes mints. I was tempted to take a picture and post it but felt it would be rather mean and just overdoing it. There's no drinking water in the rooms as an international destination. If I was taking a driving trip, I'd have bottles of water or a case for our needs. Most international "hotels" have this provided especially for the price charged. They have dispensers on different levels with cups or you can fill your own bottles. Who would know to carry a bottle on a trip? You can buy bottles from a vending machine but you have to download an app and dispense it digitally after loading money onto the account and after this sometimes you have to go to a different floor if you want to buy more than one bottle at a time. You cannot just insert a credit card and pay. I felt like Mario in the Nintendo game navigating levels. If your phone reception is lackluster, then you're out of luck. What a stupid system to buy water or drinks from a machine. If you ask for another bar of soap, they'll reluctantly hand you another pat of butter sized soap. They have a disclaimer card to being environmentally conscious with regard to cleaning and towel replacements. So for hotel prices, I can have the same service as my house provided by myself at home with no cleaning, bed service or anything unless we request it. How amazing is that? They have a breakfast buffet but they run out of food fast and then cannot seem to figure out how to make larger amounts at the posted breakfast times despite doing it EVERY SINGLE DAY and knowing how many guests are in the rooms. Even so, the eggs and potatoes and whatever else lacked in even average quality. Nothing felt like "hotel quality". It seemed like the same stuff we get in these places in the USA, which is like the worst insult one can imagine. It felt like this place was set up simply to invite poor reviews. I even tried the stupid restaurant across the street, the name thankfully eludes me, and the burger I ordered was truly garbage, charred and terrible, with an order taken by a collective of 3 people who couldn't figure out what services they offer, so there's not even a good dining option nearby. This is a craphole of a hotel destination for the price and honestly, I have struck Victoria, BC from my list of places to ever visit again...ever, because it feels like I'm still back in the US.

Yelp
I had seen this hotel on my last visit to Victoria and thought it would be a beautiful stay for my next family visit. What a terrible stay. We arrived and I had requested an early check in. The room was not ready, ok, but they had no idea when it would be. We left our bags at the desk and went to the airport to pick up my mother. We returned and our room still was not ready, we went to lunch. Our room was finally ready. They had put me in a room that we would have to walk up three flights of stairs, it was in the older building. There is no elevator there. My mother is 75 years old. This was also a request when I made the reservation. They changed the room and put us in the new building with the elevator. They also charged me $200.00 for incidentals. This was not anywhere in the rules, regulations or conditions of the hotel when I made my reservation. When I asked what incidentals were I was told they were for phone calls and room damage. First of all, we all have cell phones. Second, I had my 75 year old mother, my 29 year old daughter and myself, 56 years old in the room. What do they think we are going to destroy? We're not rock stars and our partying days are pretty much over. After checking out they didn't charge my room for three days. What was the delay? We had a reservation for tea at The Empress so we left after putting our things in our room. When we came back to the room I noticed that the bathroom sink was plugged and draining very slowly. We asked for three days to have this fixed. I later found out that the housekeeper didn't even report it. So, did they or did they not, at least, wipe down the bathroom? The shower was the worst I think I've ever had the displeasure of using. The only spray is from the outside ring of the shower head. This makes for a long shower, especially if your washing long or thick hair. There are no niceties except for the bar of soap and small bottle of hand cream. They do, however have a shampoo, conditioner and body soap dispenser in the shower. I can tell you the body soap is very drying to the skin. I did not try the shampoo or conditioner. The bed was comfortable, but I'm still trying to figure out why there is a piece of material instead of a comforter at the edge of the bed. There is a sheet cover, a padded blanket and a sheet cover. The room definitely needs a heater instead of the small room heater they think works. I did notice the maids cart and don't understand why there are Walmart bags filled with cleaning supplies on the floor instead of them being on the maids cart. The breakfast is basically the same everyday. Two types of egg sandwich. bacon, sausage, egg, fresh fruit (apple or pear), coffee or tea. Every morning we had to wait for coffee, milk or cream since they only had one carafe of each. The staff manning the breakfast bar was not to interested in caring for the bar as we had to ask every morning for the coffee to be refilled. At the back of the coffee table there was a small basket that you could throw your tea and sugar discards in. Not very appetizing. We also tried to use the vending machines. The soda and water machines were not working for the full time we were there, four days. We did go to 7-11 to put water in the fridge after the second night since we realized that nothing was going to be done about the machines. In fact, there was not even an out - of - order sign put on the machines until the last night we were there. They didn't even have the keys to refill the machines. One night we asked for some 7-up or ginger ale to help an upset stomach, we were denied this one request. They have an onsite restaurant. We were told the restaurant was closed and there was no way to get anything from the restaurant. They suggested I go to 7-11 at 11pm. They also do not have any way to order out if your hungry and want delivery, They have no take out menus. They have no room service. The hotel was having some construction done and the area that you are directed to walk thru on their map was closed. Of course, you don't know this until you get there and then your directed to walk around the corner to the front of the building where the front entrance actually is. This manor is not worth the money you pay for it. They are still trying to figure out how to run the place. Stay at the Days Inn next door or at one of the beautiful bed and breakfasts like the Amethyst Inn. They know customer service.

Yelp
- Location is very close to downtown Victoria, about a 5min walk to the shopping strip. Outside of manor is beautiful and fits the early 1900s era of when it was built. - Rooms have restored hardwood, comes with a fridge (nearest grocery store just a 10min walk), bathrooms nothing special - Free continental breakfast is a la carte, so no buffet. Get there early (730/8) to be seated somewhat quickly, but always a wait! Food can take some time, and is subpar regular bfast food - room charge $50/day as an "insurance fee" that makes sure you don't ruin the room. Later refunded at end of your stay But Stay here if you want the old and authentic feel in a good location to tourism and sightseeing!

Yelp
For an older building, it was okay for the price. I paid for a package through the Blackball ferry along with a few other items. The building/decor itself is old but seems to be kept up as well as can be expected. Unfortunately, our double queen room looked out onto the street which was disappointing. I feel they could have asked us if we wanted an upgrade at check in. Maybe all the Blackball ferry packaged rooms are the 'cheapest' on the menu, I'm not sure. The room itself was adequate enough--small frig, coffee maker, hot electric water heater for tea, etc. The walls are very thin--everthing above & below is pretty loud. I expect that due to the age of the building, there isn't much to be done about the sound factor. I thought the breakfast they offered was decent--everything you need to get you going for the day. Tables, if you are concerned about Covid (yes, I am) are fairly close together so as long as you are comfortable with that. They do allow the option of taking your breakfast to your room. Would I stay here again? Likely not. Too many other options in Victoria. But, thanks for the stay!

Yelp
Huntingdon Manor has the battle-hardened appearance and feel that you will find in many other hotels that have been around forever and get tons of patronage, simply because they are "there." And "there," in this case, means that Huntingdon Manor is directly across the street from the Clipper terminal. As long as Clipper is located there (and as long as the Clipper/Huntingdon relationship continues), the hotel will get business. From the outside, you may be fooled by the historic buildings surrounding the hotel. While part of the same complex, they are not the same building. Huntingdon Manor is a large, newer building that, inside, feels clunky and uninspiring. The lobby is small and isn't really a place where you want to hang out very long. Yet, the rooms are modern and well-done and comfortable. Everything was clean. The floor above us transmitted the sounds of people walking around and laughing, and this we did not like. Staff was fantastic, all around, from the front desk to the breakfast--everyone was cheerful, friendly, helpful. Staff truly raises this hotel an entire star. We didn't love that our King-size bed was actually two twin beds lashed together. I know that this is not an uncommon practice, but still, the sharp hump in the middle made it difficult to move around.

Yelp
We really loved the staff at this mansion. The staff went all out to make us happy and were very kind and down to earth. They didn't treat us like just another number but a new friend. The room we had booked was 'out of service' so we ended up in a smaller room. To compensate, the staff gave us a Breakfast Tea Service that was simply stellar at the restaurant next door, the Ponderay. (Which is actually the building that's in most of the photos.) This unexpected luxury that was my hearts desire but not in our budget. This breakfast just made the whole trip pure magic! It could not have been more perfect. The staff there are also super great!!! The location is literally walking distance from the ferry, the government buildings, the empress hotel, the Royal BC Museum, lots of shopping and eateries and tour buses that will take you anywhere. Our car was quite unnecessary once we got there. (That being said we did enjoy driving all over the island at our leisure and even going to Costco -which sells poutine which we highly recommend.) Back to the mansion, it's actually quite large on the inside but the rooms are quite small. Not really a problem since you're probably not 'living' in your hotel room. The lobby and breakfast room are very clean. The room...let me express again that it wasn't the room we booked, and I'm sure if we'd had that room it would have been perfect. In the interest of full disclosure though, the room we were in had the heater panel hanging off the wall. The coffee pot had to be moved from its proper place to by the bed to access a plug-in. There was a mirror that covered the entire back wall. The beds were as hard as rocks!!! The pillows were nice. The tiles in the bathroom were discolored from age and cracked. All very minor bits that were totally livable. The patio was wonderful and overlooked the street with a gorgeous tree in front of it which gave privacy but still gave us a great view. Also, we didn't hear any of our neighbors which is a huge plus for us. We would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
4.5 stars rounded up for the potential they are pouring into this place! I enjoyed my stay here completely! The staff are amazing with recommendations in the area and helping you get where you need to go. Wonderful customer service! The manor looks like old century Victorian but feels like modern comfort. There is a lovely dinning area and business nook with fireplace. The continental breakfast is fully loaded and they do a great job of making sure it's always full. The room was spacious and comfortable. Wish they would have had more furniture but it looks like they are working on revamping the place - so I won't knock them on that. All of it was perfect! The kitchen was fully stocked and they had everything you would want to make your own meals if you were staying longer. The only negative would be that the bed needs to be anchored down or something. LOL! You can't place too much weight on the bottom or the top flips up and visa versa. It's on wheels too which makes things interesting.

Yelp
Stayed here for two nights in the middle of June with my husband who was here for work and our 3 children. There is a lot that is wrong with this hotel, and I really really wanted to love it. The outside of the hotel and the buildings around it represent Victoria so well, looking at it from the outside, the property is gorgeous. This hotel was recently renovated, but you would never know it unless someone told you. The only thing that looks new in the hotel are the floors. Pros- Location (everything is within walking distance), most guests were older so I never heard kids screaming, complimentary breakfast, complementary slippers, good wifi, seemed clean and was able to check in early with no problems. Cons- The cost at $205/ night is not worth what you get. The pillows are too soft, no a/c, the fridge is from the 70's. The bathroom had so many chips in the floor (I thought it was dirty at first), the bottom of bathroom door got soaked at some point in time and the paint is peeling there is also some pink grim from the moisture on the bathroom door, the towels are soft and absorbent but all were frayed and past their prime and the pipes are really loud. The door to get into the suite has a huge gap so light comes in at night, there are no extra blankets or pillows in the closet, no microwave, old clock matching the old fridge. The breakfast is weird, servers look overworked and stressed, there is always a lineup to eat and just my luck there was a fuzz or cat hair in my water and my spoon had some remnants of food stuck on it. I prefer the buffet style breakfasts when at a hotel, it's just easier, faster and overall more enjoyable. All these things I could have ignored, but the one thing that will keep me from staying here ever again is the jarring, jump out of your skin slamming the suite doors make when closing. If you value your sleep in anyway, don't stay here. Ear plugs don't work, they actually amplify the banging noises.....trust me I know.

Yelp
I chose this hotel for its closeness to the harbor. I was Very Happy with that! The Hotel is Lovely but it is Pricey and I didn't feel I got any extras for the price. The room was nice and clean but the showers could use updated shower heads and arced shower rails for larger guests. The free breakfast was limited. The wait staff were nice but the food was bland and sausage over cooked.

Yelp
The hotel was cute however it was definitely old but had a bit of charm. Our room did not have AC nor did we have screens on our windows. In turn we ended up with a lot of spiders in our room. Nothing scary though. We had a gorgeous view and the staff was phenomenal! The beds were very comfy and the place was extremely clean. My biggest complaint was that the free breakfast was terrible. I am not a picky eater but wow... not good at all. You get 3 options to pick from and we chose the #1 ( Your choice of meat, eggs, toast and potatoes). I ordered the sausage and it was so bad. It literally tastes like ground pork mixed with oatmeal and then fried. No flavor... I couldn't even eat it. The hotel was average but I would suggest going down the street to Santiagos for breakfast! They are fantastic!

Yelp
We stayed there for two weeks in April, 2022, when our new house was being readied. We were promised room #102, which looks on the courtyard and would have likely been quieter. Instead, we were put into #101, which was over the parking garage entrance, facing the street, and beside the outdoor parking. There was constant traffic noise, noise from the parking lot, and smoke and pot odours from people standing in front of our room outside and smoking. Someone also smoked in the stairwell next to our room. Our four-year girl was coughing when this happened. I did report it. We were all ill for several days with a gastrointestinal disease (likely Norovirus); I had it the worst with severe dehydration and diarrhea. The only thing all three of us ate was the included breakfast. Speaking of which, the breakfast room was closed for renovations after the first four days, so we went from bacon, eggs, sausage and waffles to cereal and gross muffins in plastic for our last twelve days. Also, my little girl drinks apple juice, and for the last twelve days the ad-hoc breakfast only served orange juice, so we had to buy her juice to bring to the breakfast. I only had the real breakfast for two days, as I was too ill to eat it on days three and four. I don't know how much I was charged for the breakfast. The lounge was closed in the evenings, because it was being used for the ad-hoc breakfast, so there was nowhere to sit outside of our room. We were assigned parking spot #14, which was outside of our window in the surface parking. They asked if I wanted to move to the underground parking on day two; I told them that I was fine with spot #14 because it was outside our window. Later that same day, they stopped using the assigned parking system, and surface parking became a "free for all". No one told me this at the time of the parking discussion, or thereafter - I found out when I went in to report someone else parked in #14. So, from then on, I had to park in whatever space was available in the surface parking. The parking at Huntingdon is about twice as expensive as any other hotel in the area. Twice when we were there, our toilet clogged. We did not put anything in that would clog it, and do not use a lot of toilet paper. One of the times, maintenance was not available (5:00pm on a Monday?!?), so I had to fix it myself. Once, the kitchenette sink clogged. Nothing but water and soap went down there during our stay. I had to fix that, too. After we left, we found that the food, which we had purchased while staying there, had been infested with tiny ants. I requested contact from management multiple times; I have not been contacted. Also, one week later, I still have not received my receipt; which they offered to email me. I am VERY interested in seeing how much I paid for the breakfast, and for the parking; because those amounts should absolutely be refunded. Obviously, I cannot recommend staying at the Huntingdon Manor.

Yelp
Location is excellent . Mostly due to the age of the property . Big money for what it is . Also be prepared for 'mucho' taxes . Room was fine , except for kids running in the hall on floor above ? My major BEEF is that you are charged $12 for parking , in the gated garage below the hotel . That could be acceptable , except after leaving your car for the elevator you immediately see their sign " Not responsible for vehicles or contents while on these premises " . Not what I would call a real confidence booster for arriving guests . Made me wonder how many *break ins *damage or *thefts thy have ? Made me feel one would be better off parking on the street . Seems for the cost - they could employ a security guard to patrol the parking garage . I won't be a return guest . Don SLC

Yelp
We stayed here for 4 nights for our anniversary. It's a beautiful historical building. The actual hotel is behind the main pictures on the website, so you don't actually stay in there. I'm sure with more research we would have realised that before checking in. Our room was a king size, it was lovely. I wish that our bedding would have been changed more often, only because I'm a bit of a germaphobe. However, they try really hard to be eco-friendly. They have reminders and suggestions around the room to provide ways we can help them in their goal. Something that we loved was the use of re-usable water bottles. They had them available for us to use during our stay at no charge. A few bummers were the man painting our door as we were getting dressed and ready to go out the door. One of the front desk staff was not friendly and actually made me want to leave. Another, which isn't quite in their control is that the floors don't hide sound very well (probably because of the age) our last night the room above use kept us up all night long. This is a beautiful hotel and we would stay there again. It is so close to everything downtown and it was a lovely stay. The underground parking was cheap and was safe, which is what we wanted! Thank you for having us!

Yelp
The staff is AWESOME! They were so nice and accommodating. But omg, the beds are so uncomfortable. It's the kind where you can feel the springs. Also, the pillows were WAAAY to big and firm. Unfortunately I could not sleep very well here. We stayed here for 3 nights, so I was pretty exhausted when we left. It's also very noisy, which wasn't the staff's fault. I think the walls are just thin and for some reason our upstairs neighbors were running a marathon in their room or something. Besides the beds and noise, the place is very clean and cozy. I do recommend staying here if you are not picky about the bed. Also, the surrounding area is gorgeous. The hotel is perfect walking distance to a lot of awesome places.

Yelp
We found this place when we realized you can't just visit Victoria for the day. Yes the hallway smells like you're your Grandmother's house, but who doesn't like their Grandmother? They have a water cooler in the hallway, perfect for refilling your bottle before heading out! The room was clean, the bed was comfy and they even have slippers to protect you from the cold floor. The shower had good pressure and they even serve breakfast on the premises. Our room had a view of the harbor! We will definitely come back here next time!

Yelp
this is always one of my favorite places to stay whenever i visit victoria. it's so nice and quaint yet it keeps me grounded and some extra cash in my wallet. the staff here are very friendly and go out of their way to make every stay the very best. the very first time i stayed here was not my favorite but still remains a great memory. my family came here for a summer and of all the places i end up staying right next door to my junior high pe teacher. just my luck! it's my summer vacation and i want to get away from school and i get so lucky. when we went out to dinner look who we ran in to. if i went to the pool look who was there. why me god?! it was a bummer for a teenage boy but it was still funny.

Yelp
As far as accomodations go, my husband and I tend to prefer Bed & Breakfasts; this includes our couple-times-a-year trips to Victoria. That said, B&B's are not always in our price range. Fortunately, the Huntingdon Hotel & Suites IS within our price range; it's an easily affordable option for most any budget. It also happens to be clean, cozy, and comfortable, with a cute little (small) store on the grounds as well as a restaurant (I haven't yet tried the restaurant but I'm glad to know it's there!). The location is great -- literally right across the street from the ferry terminal at inner Harbour -- and there's free Internet in the lobby (the computer actually works, too!). So why just three stars? Well, the walls are as thin as a pancake (or paper, or whichever cliche one wants to use). This is only a minor inconvenience if your neighbors are quiet and respectful. However, if your neighbors are loud and obnoxious -- as ours were during our most recent stay -- don't count on sleep. Which is rather unfortunate, considering sleep is sort of the point of a hotel in the first place. (Yes, it did reach the point where we had to inform the front desk; and, no, nothing was done about it. The grating voices and drunken-sounding laughter continued for a good half hour or so.) Oh, well. At least the desk staff are polite and friendly -- even during that less-than-ideal scenario. Ultimately, this is a charming alternative to other budget hotels and certainly a sufficient place to stay. Next time we can't swing a B&B, I'm sure we'll be back; I'll just keep my fingers crossed for quiet neighbors!

Yelp
I'm not sure if this disqualifies my review or not but I used to work at this hotel as a housekeeper. It is a nice, small, hotel (about 80 rooms I believe) situated in a great spot overlooking the inner harbour. It is a short walk to the Empress, the parliament buildings and downtown Victoria. I've had a few difference dishes from the kitchen and they all very good.

Yelp
I don't know what other says, this is the 1st time to stay here, it's a little small hotel, so closer to everything within the walking ... The rooms are clean (need an update) but its nice just no AC make sure you open the window at night, great deal for this place next to the water

Yelp
We just returned from our annual summer trip to Victoria and stayed at the Huntingdon for 4 nights. On the plus side: Price/location-- it was the best price along the Inner Harbour. Quaint--I loved the old English artwork and ambiance The Gardens/View--We were fortunate to have a wonderful view of the pathway and flowers to Belleville street and could see the water from our window. Water pressure in the shower. Cons: HARD BEDS! I woke up with a sore back every morning. I booked through their website and didn't see anything saying that they charge for parking. They do--$9.00 per day. I didn't like the surprise but it's not a bad price for parking overnight in Victoria. The shower water drastically fluctuates. I've stayed in old buildings with a boiler room before so knew to not mess with the dial when the temperature changed. You could really get burned. The food in the little restaurant was good but the breakfast menu was very limited and overpriced. But that's typical for Victoria. Overall, I can't really complain. It was clean and mostly comfortable. I wouldn't be adverse to staying there again.

Yelp
Price is good. If you look for clean bedding. Bathroom stinks. Old pipes sound and smell. Rooms are spacious. Room door didn't close (make sure you close after leaving). Tv remote control didn't work either. The building is nice outside. Old fashion style inside. Can be cute. Fridge makes lots of noises. Wifi connection? Not really. It doesn't work 5steps away from the lobby. Breakfast is less than ok. Some fruit. Some cereal. Croissants. Bad quality scrambled eggs, toaster doesn't work properly. At least it's included in the hotel room price. They ask to leave a tip because they tidy up after you (really!? You expect me to tip!) I'm not picky. But if I go to a hotel I expect much more. If I had stayed at a random road motel it would have been good enough.

Yelp
We stayed here this year during the Goodlife Victoria Marathon, chosen for its proximity to the race starting line. Location was great for this purpose. However, the price was quite high for what we actually got. The bed was comfortable but our shower was horrible - the water alternated in sudden bursts between scalding hot and ice cold. It came with a kitchen, but the oven was right against the cloth curtains of a window, which seems like a fire hazard to me. We were on the first floor, but even then there were stairs to climb and no apparent access by ramp for wheelchair or people with heavy bags. I don't think I'd stay again willingly, but if I was forced to, I would be okay with it.

Yelp
Sometimes things are better left unchanged, and the Huntingdon Manor Hotel is a classic example, I recall seeing bad reviews on tripadvisor before the old ownership sold it off a couple years ago, but what they failed to realize then was that it was a fine hotel, and now not so much. The new ownership is an investor from China. Fugly renovations have transformed the place. Notably they replaced the charming red carpet in the lobby with a cheap characterless grey one. This old, deluxe red carpet which was in perfect condition had a wonderful design pattern. The reno's have not decreased noise disturbances at night. Their dining area has also gone downhill. The breakfast is now junk food buffet (bad) whereas before it was menu dining (good). Another bad change. I'd rather pay for a good breakfast than have that junk offered in the all-inclusive. Heritage hotels like this should never be uselessly transformed, especially when the foundation is wood. It's almost as if they have ruined my hotel. Customer service is more awful than prior. If you forget something behind when you check out, you'll lose it. The only reason one needed to stay there over a more modern building was for its character and atmosphere. But now money is better spent at a "better" hotel where you can at least sleep through the night without hearing loud footsteps. edit. The Hotel responds that the renovations have boosted their star ratings. In general, one of the most irritating things in life is someone who doesn't listen, just like when you phone them up post check-out because you forgot your favorite suede scarf in your room but they don't have it. This hardly deviates from the poor customer service and flip attitude I got from one of their deadbeat staff on prior occasions during my stay. But in response to the minutia posted by management here, sure, they refurbished certain areas but the red carpet in the hallways and lobby? Its replacement shows the management/ ownership are far removed from attributable trademarks appreciated by the public. Have they replaced the loud water pipes in those reno's or soundproofed the floors? Slapping bad cosmetic changes (red carpet to cheap ugly generic grey carpet) is not an improvement.

Yelp
Very helpful and friendly staff! They allowed us to check in early and they held our bags after check out for us! The room was clean and everything worked well, nice location for exploring Victoria!

Yelp
We chose this hotel as part of a Clipper vacation package. It is conveniently located right across the street from the Clipper dock, which is good when trailing luggage off the ferry. However, it is a bit of a walk from downtown if walking is an issue. I was nursing a bad knee at the time. Check in was easy and the staff was pleasant. The room was just fine. It was clean and comfortable, although our view was the back of the Gatsby. The bathroom had the lowest seated toilet I have ever experienced, which is enough to discourage us from staying here again. The room was pretty quiet except for the plumbing noises from adjacent rooms. Beds were very comfortable. We returned to our room on two different days to find our door not fully shut. Housekeeping didn't bother to check if it was pulled tight. No harm done, thank goodness, and when notified, management sent a man to fix the auto shut mechanism. The hotel has some age to it. The big downfall was the included breakfast. It just wasn't good. The toast and jam was good, but we are pretty sure the scrambled eggs were powdered eggs. My poached egg was rubbery and the egg was not properly drained before putting it in its little bowl. The "potatoes" were little roasted and reheated cubes of nothingness. Sorry to be harsh, but it was bad enough we forfeited the "free" option and ate elsewhere the subsequent three mornings. I think next time, we will choose somewhere else to stay.

Yelp
My family stayed here for three days right after Christmas and we all loved the hotel. The lobby was beautiful and the staff were very helpful. My mom and my room was located on the water side of the hotel and we had a pretty nice view of the inner harbor. Both our room and my dad and brother's room were clean, smoke-free, and spacious. The price was right and we were very happy with our selection.

Yelp
My husband & I visited Victoria this past week for our 50th Anniversary. I booked our rooms at the Huntington Manor through the Victoria Clipper website. The Clipper took our luggage directly to our hotel, so we could go to Butchart's Garden, upon arrival. Our luggage was waiting in our room when we checked in. I chose the Manor because of it's location near the Inner Harbour & the Clipper's dock. I love vintage hotels with all their little quirks & character. The staff was great & our room was clean & very comfortable. Breakfast was included in our package with 3 choices available. We were served in a beautiful, sunny breakfast room before leaving on our adventures. There is a lovely B&B adjacent that serves Afternoon Tea, as well. A number of restaurants are near, also. On our last day, they stored our luggage for us, since our return wasn't until 5pm. It started raining & we were tired, so they let us rest in their lobby until time to go. I enjoyed watching the staff interact with guests as we waited. They were very kind & attentive to all. I highly recommend the Huntington Manor to anyone visiting Victoria, who does not want a cookie-cutter hotel experience.

Yelp
Location great. Reasonably priced. Needs serious updating though it was clean. Extremely friendly staff. Special props to the young lady working in the breakfast buffet on July 6&7 as she was so sweet and helpful.

Yelp
Stayed here one night as part of a Clipper package. Great location if you like to have it a little quieter but still close to downtown. Right across the street from the Clipper terminal. The hotel is a bit outdated. I didn't find the beds to be comfortable but we were only there one night. Friendly staff.

Connie H.

Yelp
The staff, from the front desk to the restaurant, were amazing! Chris, Crystal, Ana and Tracey all provided us excellent service. The room was clean and comfortable; however, the beds were awful! It was like sleeping on concrete. In addition, if we closed the drapes, they would cover the air conditioner, so we had to try to sleep with the lights from the outside beaming into our room. I would give 5 stars to the staff and the food in the restaurant, one star to the beds, two stars to the room as a whole.

Betti M.

Yelp
We took the Victoria Clipper from Seattle, Washington and wanted a hotel that was close to where we docked. The Huntingdon was only one block up. It was very convenient with luggage and no car. The staff was very helpful and the room was huge and comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

Yelp
Motel comes to mind when I first stepped the room, yes the place was clean and it's location was very convenient, however this place had a certain smell to it, i would say dusty but i didn't really see any dust, if old had a smell this would be it. The furniture and beddings were outdated. The room was small but had a lovely view of the harbor. for the price and last minute booking, it was ok.

Yelp
I've been all over the world & stayed in the best & the worst. This was very disappointing. No AC which is ruining $300k of photo gear (I'm a commercial photographer). No mention of this on their web site. No cable TV for those of us up at 3AM retouching photos (again no mention of this on web). Small rooms...I have to climb over my camera cases & luggage to get to the door. Victorian, clean & pretty but feel that I was misled as to what I was expecting. I'll be looking for another place today & I guess we'll see who is going to repair my gear; I'll let my ins co handle that. Maybe I expected too much but I've been in tents in Africa, but was prepared for that. I'm new to Yelp so if I did anything wrong, I'm sorry.

Yelp
Arrived at 3pm, the room was still being cleaned, and took another 30 minutes to finish. Other than that, a few details were missed in the cleaning of the room. The room gave felt old and stuffy. There were better options in the area, I wish I would have picked a different hotel, some of the others offered an indoor pool or free breakfast.

Yelp
Right by the ferry from the US, but keep on driving. This hotel is old and tired. In need of an update and repairs. With that said it's fairly priced and cleanish. I'd suggest going for a more centralized location and splurging a little in Victoria. It is a very cool town.

Yelp
We were travelling as a family with another family and just needed one night in walking distance from the ferry. This place was reasonably priced so we booked it. We were pleased with the size and cleanliness of the room, but yes, it is old and in need of updating, Still, for the money, it served our purpose. Breakfast on the front porch restaurant was beautiful though pricey.

Yelp
I had purchased a gift card package which was redeemable at this hotel as a package with some nice perks: overnight stay, tickets to the museum and a couple of other things. When I called to book an appointment, first I was left on hold for over 10 minutes by the front desk so I called back. When I did call back I informed the person that I was left on hold for 10 minutes, he never even acknowledged it and just asked what he can do for me. When I explained I wanted to book a night with the gift card, he said I would have to email the manager as they had recently changed management and they would have to deal with it. Fair enough, so I email the manager and I get return emails asking me questions such as: Did you already purchase this gift card? What does this gift card entail? When did you purchase it? Etc etc...when I had already included in the email a direct link to the site where they are signed up with this package deal online. I guess he was too lazy to click on a link to see what they had agreed upon as a package. He said he has cc'd his floor manager and would look into it and get back to me. I waited over 2 weeks and I never got a response back. So I emailed back and let them know that this is ridiculous customer service and also about what happened when I had first called. This is exactly what I wrote: To whom it may concern: I have not heard back from any of you and am very disappointed with your guest services overall. I did not receive any acknowledgement when I first wrote regarding the negative experience I had on the phone with your front desk staff. The lack of knowledge you have of my already purchased gift certificate and with all the information I had given to you to look into it, I am appalled by the lack of response and care given to a potential guest who was previously looking to book with you. I will be sure to share my review and feedback of my experience with your establishment and will not be booking with you now or in the future. Thank you. And this was their reply: We will be gladly accepting your gift certificate. In order to ensure availability, please let us know when you are planning to arrive. Are you kidding me? I just replied and said "I think you have missed the message in my email." Again, where is the acknowledgement of my entire experience. Needless to say, if I'm planning to stay somewhere and spend money on an establishment, they had better have some form of communication which this hotel clearly did not. Thankfully, I'm able to redeem the gift card package at another participating establishment which was very easy and accommodating and we have already enjoyed our weekend getaway! :)
