A lovely market hall. The interior is currently under construction (as of November 2025), but the stalls have moved to the adjacent park, so it is not actually closed, and is definitely worth a visit. The hall was one of my favourites when the interior was open. It was bigger and more traditional looking than the nearby Klauzal Market Hall, but less expensive, crowded, and touristy than the Central Market Hall. I loved coming here to get veres hurka for breakfast at the butcher that serves hot meals. One of the ladies had limited English and couldn't understand my heavily accented attempts at Hungarian, but we managed to get by with pointing.

Fantastic market full of fresh local produce on a Saturday till 1.00 PM. A good Lángos stand, where you can buy a small or large lángos. And a beautiful cafe at the end just as you enter into the gardens which serves delicious sandwiches and cakes.

Medium sized indoor/outdoor market, many different stalls but mainly veg/fruit and butchers with the odd cheese and fish ones thrown in for good measure. Only about a quarter of the stalls open the Friday in April we visited, maybe it gets busier during the summer?

I love these old market buildings, there are so many across town and they’re a great place to buy your groceries. This market is notable for its very good cheese shop that also sells raw milk, and for the shop with a wide variety of fresh and dried mushrooms. Do note it closes early on Saturdays. Worth a visit for foodies!

Beautiful traditional market with a great selection of cheese (definitely try the füstölt sajt; smoked cheese), pickled vegetables and handmade pastries. The local farmers are selling their food to a very reasonable price and the market always has a very relaxing atmosphere with no tourists at all. Outside the market hall there are even more beautiful stalls with flowers and herbs.

It is a simple city marketplace with a few shops. You can buy fresh vegetables, milk products. Boucher and bakery also can be find here. If you would like to try some Hungarian dish for a reasonable price there are a few canteens you can chose from. Probably they won’t speak English and the menu is on Hungarian so get ready with a dictionary! ;) I believe, if you would like to try locally food and get a vibe, it’s a nice and friendly place to shop/eat. You can buy fresh vegetables and frites without unnecessary plastic wrapping! It’s a plus if you try to be green. :)

I enjoyed the Hunyadi Square Market. We went in the day time and I got some stuff from a great spice vendor. We also came back in the evening for dinner at this adorable restaurant. They had such great fine Hungarian food. Definitely worth a stop in.

Ce building hosting the Market is close until 2027 BUT a temporary market is OPEN on Hunyadi Square, onthe street in front of the market with the same shops that were inside the building.
