8 Must-Try Foods While Traveling in Budapest, Hungary - AFAR
"A local market favored for its butcher stalls and wide selection of prepared meats and charcuterie, making it a good spot to pick up take-away Hungarian meat specialties." - Carolyn Bánfalvi
I enjoyed the Hunyadi Square Market. We went in the day time and I got some stuff from a great spice vendor. We also came back in the evening for dinner at this adorable restaurant. They had such great fine Hungarian food. Definitely worth a stop in.

It is a simple city marketplace with a few shops. You can buy fresh vegetables, milk products. Boucher and bakery also can be find here.
If you would like to try some Hungarian dish for a reasonable price there are a few canteens you can chose from. Probably they won’t speak English and the menu is on Hungarian so get ready with a dictionary! ;)
I believe, if you would like to try locally food and get a vibe, it’s a nice and friendly place to shop/eat.
You can buy fresh vegetables and frites without unnecessary plastic wrapping! It’s a plus if you try to be green. :)

Beautiful traditional market with a great selection of cheese (definitely try the füstölt sajt; smoked cheese), pickled vegetables and handmade pastries. The local farmers are selling their food to a very reasonable price and the market always has a very relaxing atmosphere with no tourists at all. Outside the market hall there are even more beautiful stalls with flowers and herbs.

Not many stalls were opened on the day I visited. Bought a Langos with garlic & cheese. It's delicious and cheap (850HUF only).

Nice market currently under renovation but still open for business. Vegetables, cheeses, fruits, meat and bread.
If you want to try Langos, try them here. They make them in front of you and many locals buy them daily.

Definitely seen better days inside, but there are good stalls and it is worth checking out. There's a good butcher, a great cheese shop, cheap but good coffee, langos and pickles as well as some veggies. Saturday is very busy.
