My friend and I decided to stay within the vicinity of Lahaina town and Wharf Cinema center. We ended up deciding on Vietnamese for an early dinner before popping a half marathon the next morning.
It was fairly convenient for this Vietnamese restaurant to be in the Wharf Cinema center here in Lahaina, Maui. We just basically walked around the corner from the Regency Theaters, more or less. With that said, we arrived here around 4:00pm and we were seated almost immediately. The restaurant itself was small and homely, like many Vietnamese restaurants I've been privileged to frequent. It's clean and quite comfortable. We ended up in the middle of the restaurant near the kitchen. There really wasn't air conditioning that I could have felt here, just an open air-ish one without doors at the entrance. I guess with Maui, it's cool this way. We were seating away from the people, which was nice for social distancing in 2023. I ended up having Pho, of course, with a side dish of summer rolls, with just water to drink. Something simple and familiar for me as I embark on my 50 something lifetime half marathon and the first one of the year the next morning. I basically had the combination Pho. I should have ordered extra noodles or something but it was okay and not overkill, which I tend to do with the extra noodles. The meal was delicious and the summer rolls were on point. It's nice that they make the rolls fresh to order and not made and stuck in the fridge till someone orders them. The service here was casual and friendly. The experience here was about an hour from beginning and ending.
The overall experience here at Pho Huong Nam Vietnamese restaurant - Lahaina Maui was as cool and casual as you can get. It's tucked away from the main drag that is Lahaina town and front street, but centralized if you and your party wants Vietnamese fare in West Maui. I did enjoy the broth of the Pho. Wished I had ordered extra vegetables, since they complete the meal. The basil and the beat sprouts are fresh and brought out before the actual Pho. My friend had their Fried rice platter, which looked fairly awesome, but knowing me, had to do the Pho especially when coming to a Vietnamese restaurant. The experience was enjoyable of course. It was a nice place to really unwind before the night ahead. The prices were kind of up there, but what can you expect when you're in the tourist hub of west Maui. It is what it is. If you are in Maui and want something simple and away from the tourist traps, consider coming to Pho Huong Nam Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of Lahaina, Maui. Supporting local small businesses is great also while being budget friendly when everyone else is helping the tourist side of Maui. Not sure if this place has centralized air conditioning, but it was comfortable regardless. Not sure about the WiFi either. Consider coming here for your daily Pho fix or a great lunch or dinner without the crazy tourist experience.
Pho Huong Nam Vietnamese restaurant is located in Lahaina Maui. Its address is 658 Front Street. The restaurant itself is tucked away on the 2nd floor next to the Thai restaurant and the Mexican restaurant. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. As far as parking goes, your best bet would be the free parking lot that's like 2 blocks away. Be forewarned though, that lot is usually popular and can be full at most times of the day. There's also a secondary lot that sometimes has parking but you'd need to pay. Check the rates if you decide to park there. If those fail, do check the nearby residential side streets for opportunities. If nothing else, you can park in the parking garage next to Whalers Village in Kaanapali and bus it down via the Maui Bus. Only $4 round trip, if you want. There's always Uber and Lyft at your disposal too. If you are like me, many routes stop at Lahaina town and at the Wharf Cinema center. Consider the right routes that's right for you. The daily Pho fix is strong and if you were that kind of person and in Maui, I would definitely recommend coming out to Lahaina to get your daily dose of Pho, basil, and bean sprouts.
4.5 stars for the overall experience. 5.0 stars for the location, since it was basically a short walk from the regency theaters. Don't need to walk far. 4.5 stars for the food and service. 3.0 stars for the food and 4.5 stars for the ambiance.
