Absolutely loved the Fisherman’s Platter! The crumb-fried fish was perfectly crispy and flavorful, and the lobster with garlic butter sauce was rich and delicious. The abalone was tender and well-prepared, and the seafood chowder was hearty and full of depth—packed with fresh flavors. Every element on the plate was cooked beautifully and tasted fresh. A must-try for any seafood lover. Highly recommend!

Since it was during take-away hours, we unfortunately couldn’t order the specific dishes we wanted from the full menu, such as the crayfish. However, the calamari and blue-eye trevalla we had were absolutely delicious and very well prepared. I know it’s the same everywhere in Australia, but if the membrane of the calamari were cleaned, it would be even better.

Maybe only one or two restaurants in Stanley. Food is tasty but something wrong. We had half of an extra-large lobster within garlic style, a risotto with seafood including scallops, prawn and squid, three oysters, and grilled butter scallops. Good lobster, good scallops, good oyster. BUT, I found a one-centimetre long plastic thing in the risotto, which is really dangerous for everyone especially kids. In case someone might swallow it with no sense, horrible.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Hersey’s Seafood, and honestly, it was one of the best seafood experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about the customer experience, which really stood out. We ordered the grilled barramundi and the prawn skewers, and both were absolutely spot on. The fish was fresh, flaky, and full of flavour, while the prawns were juicy with just the right amount of char. You could tell everything was cooked with care. Even the sides impressed us—the chips were crispy, the salad was fresh, and the house-made tartare sauce was the perfect finishing touch. What also made the experience memorable was how relaxed but refined everything felt. It’s the kind of place where you can go in shorts and thongs or dressed up, and either way, you’ll feel comfortable. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Hersey’s is one of those places you’ll want to come back to. If you’re into fresh, well-cooked seafood with great service and good vibes, I’d highly recommend giving them a try.

Ask for a window seat. The view is a perfect match for the amazing seafood. Recommend the half lobster with garlic butter. Get the warm loaf and start making your lobster rolls. Unbelievable. Staff were so friendly, and the service was SO swift. Book ahead just in case.

Great seafood restaurant. Busy Sunday evening. Definitely need to book, but well worth the outlay. Enjoyed half medium crayfish, & hubby, a non fish eater, enjoyed chicken. Very generous portions. Good service too. They also do takeaway downstairs.

The best ever crayfish mornay, we both ordered the large and we were not disappointed. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly. The wine list was also great featuring some excellent Tasmanian wines. We would highly recommend this delightful local while visiting the gorgeous town of Stanley 😋😎

Their crawfish is a must have. The serving sizes are quite large and their prices are very reasonable. The staff were nice and accommodating as well. Worth a visit if staying in Stanley.

Yelp
This is supposed to be the got to place for seafood in Stanley as it is right next to the fisherman wharf. Lobster Mornay was great although the chips/fries were cold. Different story about the fish tacos. The batter was way to strong almost like the oil had gone past its use by date. The tacos are much to large and really for $30 are best avoided. So just go for the Southern Rock Lobster as it was the choice of the menu.
