Hús máls og menningar was one of the most fun nights we had in Reykjavík.
We walked by on our first day, popped in, and it was packed with live music and a great vibe—so we made a point to come back. We returned another day around 6:30 and caught their open mic. The comedy was honestly pretty rough, but it was still entertaining and the atmosphere carried it.
Around 8:00 the live music started with the “bookstore band,” and they played for about three hours. It turned into a full-on sing-along night—songs everyone knows, lots of crowd energy, and they even took requests. We ended up staying close to six hours.
Highly recommended if you want a lively, local-feeling night out.
And yes—it’s a bookstore… but zero books were read that day.
