Yelp
I regularly stop at North Platte for the night when I'm traveling down I-80, so I couldn't help but notice the string of 5-star reviews that Husker Inn has been getting. I've now visited twice. Rather than rehash what the other reviews have been saying, I'll cover the questions I had when I visited.
Is it easy to get to? Yes. 4th is the main east-west street through town. It's only an extra 2-3 minutes from the Interstate.
With such low prices, what am I giving up? Mainly a bit of floor space.
How small are the rooms? When I made my reservation, I asked for the King room and described what I'd need (a comfortable chair to read in, and a desk to work at). And that's exactly what I got. The room was small, but not cramped. There wasn't a closet, but there were plenty of hooks.
How is the customer service? This is a family run hotel, so I think it's reasonable to expect that someone won't always be in the office. They like to stay in touch, so someone can be at the desk when you arrive.
Is it really that clean? Yes. Spotless. In my opinion, this place is much cleaner than even the brand-new hotels going up near the interstate.
How safe is it? The room door had a locking knob and a deadbolt. You can usually park within sight of the room. They have a very good security camera system. Bottom line is that I felt as safe as at any other hotel in town.
Are the muffins really that good? They didn't appear homemade, but they were fresh and tasted great.
