A fantastic culinary experience! The schnitzel was perfectly cooked – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and served with delicious sides. The catch of the day was fresh and tender, seasoned just right – you can tell it was made with care. The coffee was rich and aromatic, exactly how I like it. And the dessert… pure delight! Beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. I’ll definitely be coming back – it’s been a long time since I’ve had such a great meal!

I highly recommend this place! The food was well made and quite flavorful especially the beef. The service was very friendly and helpful. We had to wait a bit for our food but was well worth it. There were only places outside and it got quite chilly which lowered a bit the experience but it was just that kind of a day.

Food is good, boiled beef is tender and schnitzel is flavorful. The portion is also generous. The price is slightly higher than nearby restaurants though. We went in for a very early dinner, I guess the waiters are still in break mood, so we didn't feel very welcomed, but also not too bad.

If you’re looking for Austrian cuisine then this is a place that won’t disappoint you. We had lunch 2 times in 3 days and the quality was both times outstanding. Also it has a really nice atmosphere. Special recommendation: The Potato Salad!

Google
The food was undeniably excellent—probably the best schnitzel I’ve had since arriving in Austria. However, the overall dining experience was somewhat disappointing. As an Asian traveler, I couldn’t help but feel slightly unwelcome. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty at the time, I was seated in a rather isolated corner. The service felt noticeably slower and less attentive compared to other tables. While this may have been unintentional, the difference in treatment was difficult to ignore and did take away from what could have been a truly enjoyable meal.

Popped in for a classic Viennese lunch yesterday - honestly, don’t miss this place if you’re in town! The traditional dishes here are an absolute must-try. First off, come hungry! The portions are properly generous - we’re talking “eyes bigger than stomach” territory, but in the best possible way. Somehow managed to save room for dessert though, and so glad I did! Light, not too sweet, and just the perfect finish to a hearty meal. The real standout? The staff! Their recommendations were spot-on - they clearly know their menu inside out and actually seemed excited about helping us choose. When they suggested certain dishes, you could tell it wasn’t just a sales pitch but genuine enthusiasm. If you want an authentic Viennese dining experience with people who actually care about what they’re serving, this place is a winner. Left feeling well-fed and well-looked-after. Exactly what you want when trying local cuisine!

The food was absolutely excellent. For starters, we had a soup with boiled beef and pasta—it was truly fantastic. As for the main courses, we tried the meatballs and the cordon bleu, and both were incredibly delicious. The atmosphere was lovely, warm, and inviting. A special thanks to Mr. Kostas, who took care of us—he was truly a gem and a great asset to the restaurant. His kindness and professionalism made our experience even better. Highly recommended!

The soup is so good! The beef is tender. The dessert is a large piece. The risotto is excellent too! Highly recommended!

Yelp
This is a very nice Italian style restaurant quite close to Vienna's "theater district". We came here for a quick dinner on our last night here and it did not disappoint. While they have a very nice patio, unfortunately, all the patio seats were taken so we were seated at a window seat near the bar. The service was efficient and friendly. For dinner, we ordered their salad, which came with a lovely light dressing and avocado, as well as delicious tomatoes. The spaghetti Raghu was delicious as well, although a tad salty. The pizza with prosciutto, artichokes, and mushrooms was my favorite

Yelp
Refreshing good Viennese food - close to the nearby square as well as row of hotels on the ring. Outdoor seating was perfect on a warm summer evening to enjoy the city feel. Food was all too notch favorites for the area - can't go wrong sharing a few things across your group!

Yelp
Nice place near Marriott to eat outdoors before walking over to St Stephen's cathedral area to explore. They have a small but classic Viennese menu. Steak tartar and zwiebelrostbraren, a beef onion gravy was tasty.

Yelp
Simple, easy. What a great homage to Austrian classics! One of our most memorable meals in Vienna! We were here on our last night in this fabulous city. Pouring rain. The food was so comforting and filling. We had classics...Austrian soup, boiled beef, schnitzel. Memorable meal!

Yelp
Enjoyed a tasty dinner will in Vienna, though I have no idea how to pronounce the name, the food was great, and apparently very "traditional" per the suggestion of our hotel. Just a short walk from where we were staying it was in a beautiful neighborhood, with exciting old architect. Luckily we were able to walk right in, though I might suggest making a reservation, as most places we dined at in Vienna asked, even on a Tuesday night. I considered getting the Wiener schnitzel, as it is more traditional, but opted for the chicken version instead as I'm not too keen on veal. The serving was massive, and came with a cranberry sauce which complimented it nicely, as well as a choice of sides, which I struggled to understand, as they were not listed, but opted for a "baked potato", which per American standards was more like a roasted potato. Service was ok, a little abrupt, and maybe not overly welcoming, but perhaps that is just the culture as well. Worth the walk, and it was a filling meal. Would maybe visits again.

Yelp
We had the dumpling, wiener schnitzel, and apply strudel. Everything was delicious. Service was super nice. All around 5 stars!!!

Yelp
This place has a warm atmosphere, very friendly staff, and delicious traditional schnitzel.

Yelp
A lovely restaurant just off the Ringstraße in Vienna. On our first evening in the city, we ordered the specials of the day. I had baked calf's liver with potato salad -- a utilitarian title that does not do justice to the exquisite composition of the dish. Each bite of the liver was balanced by a touch of cranberry compote and then finalized with the taste of a potato salad I've never found in the US. My wife had pike, served with a pickled plum and on top of a red beet risotto. She raved about it. The wines we ordered -- also from the specials menu -- complemented the food perfectly: a Sauvignon Blanc with the fish, a Merlot with the liver. All of this occurred in a calm, low-key environment with superbly attentive wait staff, especially our thoughtful waitress Jenny.

Yelp
I went here with my mother in law, I thought the food here was just okay. Nothing to write home about. The veal knuckle was not that tender (although disclaimer, I've never had one before) so maybe my expectations were too high? My mother in law got the beef in onion. It was also just okay. The pumpkin soup had a weird aftertaste to it. The mashed potatoes my knuckle came in were great. We looked at the Weiner schnitzel, which was huge.

Yelp
Our tour guide recommended this spot saying it was a favorite for locals - really fresh food, and he was right! I only give 4 stars as our server, though very kind, was quite slow. I had the chicken schnitzel and I don't think you could make any better! It was a rather large portion but somehow I managed to eat almost all - with delicious fresh cranberry sauce.

Yelp
Amazing service and absolutely delicious food. We had the goat cheese with beets and dumplings to start. The goat cheese was so light and fresh. The dumplings were served in a bed of the most delicious sauerkraut. We then ordered the boiled beef with crispy onions and potatoes. The beef was perfectly cooked and served with a sauce that reminded me of a French onion soup flavor. Absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling to Vienna.

Yelp
The fried Calf liver was cooked perfectly with light breading. Yes the Schitzel is what people love, but if you like Liver the fried calf liver is spot on. Reservations are important - I got in at a single table. But several customers where turned away , on a Sunday night!

Yelp
Huth was recommended by another restaurant that I was hoping to get a table at (but couldn't - no reservations), and I could not have been happier with my meal there! I ate alone, outside, it's on a quiet side street and was a refreshing change from the hustle & bustle of the more touristy areas. My server was excellent, gave me some recommendations and was attentive but gave me space. I had a glass of riesling (excellent), and ordered the tafelspitz (boiled beef with potatoes, creamed spinach, chive sauce and apple horseradish). Before it arrived a basket of bread, butter, and a rillete (rustic pate?) was delivered. Had to do my best to not fill up on it! My meal was excellent - needed salt, but everything was cooked well and the sauces (spinach did not seem to have dairy and was essentially a thick sauce) added freshness and flavor. Price was a little on the high end, but I was happy to have a more high-end experience in Vienna.

Yelp
I'm still not sure how we were lucky enough to end up dining at Huth Gastwirtschaft, which was recommended to us as one of the best places in Vienna for traditional Austrian food. And the fact that I don't speak German means it will forever be a mystery. The first issue we had to overcome last Friday night was to figure out which Huth was the Huth we wanted. When we got to Schellinggasse, we found two Huths on opposite sides of the street, and we weren't sure which of the two was the one that had been so highly recommended. So we studied both the menus hanging outside and what we could make out of the diners through the windows, and were able to determine that the Huth on the north side of the street had no tablecloths and served more casual food such as burgers, while the Huth on the south side of the street--the one with Gastwirtschaft in its name--appeared more upscale both in the table settings and what was being served on them. So we went in and asked whether we could have dinner. Unfortunately, we were told ... no. Which is understandable--it was a Friday night between Christmas and New Year's, so it made sense restaurants would be busy. But it was our first night in Vienna, and we were hungry, so we thought we'd give it a shot. I then asked whether there were any openings for two later in the evening, because we had no problem coming back. Again, we were told ... no. As we buttoned up our coats and started heading back out to the street, a grey-haired woman seated at the bar said a few sentences--in German--to the server who'd turned us away. Irene and I then stood in front of the restaurant wondering where we should try next, when the server rushed outside and waved us in. "Come, come!" Puzzled, we went back inside and were given a table. I have no idea what the woman said to get us seated--was she the owner, taking pity on two bedraggled tourists?--and due to the language barrier, we'll never know. I'm just extremely grateful, and happy that we got a chance to order from this menu, which proved to be second in quality only to Steirereck of the meals we had in Vienna. While we waited for our appetizers, a server brought over bread and a complimentary container of potted foie gras--very delicious, very creamy, but far more volume than Irene and I could do justice to with what we knew was to come. Then our appetizers arrived. I ordered the greave dumplings on white cabbage with bacon, while Irene chose the Carinthian cheese ravioli with brown butter. We shared the appetizers, as we shared all the courses here, and while I liked them both, I preferred the greave dumplings to the cheese ravioli, though I suspect that's more on me than the chef, because I'm more a meat guy than a cheese guy. Plus, I was intrigued by the greave, which I've never had before. (I ashamed to say I had to Google later to learn about the tasty filling I'd just eaten.) For our main courses, I ordered Original Wiener Schnitzel of veal, while Irene went with the Cordon Bleu, stuffed with Alpine cheese and Tyrolian bacon. The schnitzel, crisp, thin, and flavorful, was the best I had while in Vienna, and while Irene's Cordon Bleu was also delicious, it was perhaps too similar to the schnitzel in style for us to get a full sense of the range of the menu. Perhaps we shouldn't have ordered two fried dishes. Ah, well ... next time. Our entrees were served with warm potato salad, which up until we tasted it, we'd thought, based on the coloring, was baked apples. Light, and a good contrast to all that fried food. For dessert, I ordered Tartlets with Powidl in buttered breadcrumbs with stewed plums, a dish I'd never seen before. I didn't even know what Powidl was! Turns out it's a filling of plum stew. Irene, of course, ordered the homemade apple strudel with vanilla ice. The tartlets turned out to be my favorite dish of the evening, and one of my favorite dishes of the entire Vienna trip. The dough was soft but chewy, the breadcrumbs that covered them making for a nice contrast. And the Powidl had a tartness to it that added a minor bite to the dish. Not that the strudel should be slighted--its pastry was among the best we had in Vienna. Huth Gastwirtschaft is definitely worth a visit--though don't make our mistake. Get a reservation in advance! After all, there might not be a mysterious grey-haired Austrian lady to utter some magical words in German that will open a table for you, and you wouldn't want to miss out.

Yelp
One of the best Austrian food restaurants in Vienna: - Wiener Schnitzel (veal) - fantastic. Fork tender. Cant't get enough! - Cordon Bleu - see above - only stuffed with cheese! Awesome. - Kalbsbutterschnitzel - WOW! Spectacular! Ground veal patties in veal reduction sauce with mashed potatoes. I don't know what's better - the meat or the potatoes! - Kaerntner Kaasnudeln - Great! Freshly homemade pasta - cheese and potato dumplings in a slightly burnt butter glaze. - Beef tartare - also very good! - Soups - It's like what grandma used to make only better. Deep beefy flavor. - Deserts - all of it! Take a desert sampler, you won't be sorry. - Spirits - get any fruit brandy (sourced from local farmers)! I love the pear brandy! Smooth, great to get you started. Service is a great too. Make sure you get a reservation before going.

Yelp
When in Vienna we tend to visit among the trio of Huth restaurants near the Park Ring. Indeed Gastwirshaft is the most traditional Austrian of the selections. Though rather crowded on our recent visit, we fortunately got seated inside right away. The ambiance and decor is that of a elegant country setting right here in the heart of Vienna. But contrary to many people's impressions, not all the food is "heavy." We decided to share a warm Chanterelle Mushroom dish (Eierschrwammel) which was as delicate as it was delicious. As this is a seasonal selection, this was a MUST. Naturally what's Vienna without Schnitzel? We both decided on the restaurant's signature veal schnitzel which was simply amazing! Both plentiful and tasty without being heavy. The dish is served with greens and potato salad. We accompanied the meal with some nice red Austrian wines which I must say are very affordable, but yet served in beautiful glasses. For desert we both decided on the classic Central European Palatschinken, the jam filled sugary crepes. As is the Huth tradition, there's excellent service and a good evening vibe. And as is typical with their restaurants, most patrons are local and the others a mix of expats and occasional tourists.

Yelp
yesterday I discovered the Restaurant Gastwirtschaft Huth. We had a traditional "Ganslessen" there and i must say it was deliciouse. The service was excellente and very considerate. The waiter was not at all pushy but straight there when you needed something, like a very caring shadow who only gets into the light when you need something. :) The Gastwirtschaft is compared to other Huth restaurants down to earth and somehow a mixture between a traditional local food place and upper class restaurant. Its interesting to go there and actually feel like in a middle world of comfort, relaxing stylish and traditional good Austrian food. Wines come only from Austria - a little minus for me, because i have a very high regard to spanish and new world wines.

Yelp
Great authentic Vienna food. Off the beaten track, no large crowds, you'll think you are lost, but the food is delicious and service is very good. Daughter had the ravioli and it was amazing. Small portion is all you need. The grilled perch fish is awesome with risotto. Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
This is the best place to get the wiener schnitzel chicken (we didn't try the traditional veal here). Reservations are generally necessary, but we were able to slip in at the bar. Food comes fast, hot, and delicious.

Yelp
I found the food just ok. I had the cordon bleu, very tasty. Two others in my party had the wiener schnitzel , it smelled as if the oil was slightly rancid. The apple strudel was doughy & tasteless. To me , It was like they were going for the " we're a local place" feeling but I think it was more "touristy".

Yelp
We were very confused when we got here, since there were 3 different Huths, all on the same street across from each other. After going back and forth like idiots looking at the menus (all part of the tourist experience :-) we went to the one subtitled "Gastwirtschaft", which seemed to have the most "traditional" menu. I agree with another reviewer, it would have been easier to have the German names to identify what the dishes were, we were guessing away, but that's the whole fun of it. We had a most pleasant meal, ended up sitting next to two other Americans, comparing all our dishes, chatting the night away about Napa/Sonoma and getting excited about their stories of heading to Turkey and Hungary next. I started with the yummiest soup, then had the Wiener Schnitzel, which was excellent. Hubby had the ravioli, which were textured more like dumplings, but still pretty good. I had the apple strudel, which was really soggy and not tasty, so I ordered another dessert, an ice cream ball with caramel in the center, which was better. The people at the next table really liked their dishes. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Great place to have the traditional Schnitzels. The service is friendly and we really enjoyed the food. I would really like to come back :)

Bob T.

Yelp
Going down hill. Was much better in past. Seasonal chestnut cream soup was watery and lacked flavor. The veal meatballs were meh. Side salad was best part of meal, sadly. Service was absent and disinterested, in a lightly populated dining room. Sad.

Yelp
My family and I recently spent a week in Vienna, on a mixture of business and vacation. We spent all week eating at the trendy places, the ones that say they make the best Wiener schnitzel in town, or the best Taflespitz, whatever, and while the food at those places is always good, it just never seemed "amazing". Our last night there, based on the Yelp reviews, we tried Huth Gastwirtschaft. BEST FOOD WE HAD ALL WEEK. Huth was amazing. We started out with the dumplings and a bowl of the beef soup with sliced pancakes. We all shared these - they were so good that we were almost fighting over them. By the way, Huth brought out some wonderful bread and a jar of spread that looks something like mushed Spam. Americans, please don't ignore this . It is pork belly, and it is amazing. Lather it on the brown bread and enjoy. We ordered the meatballs and mashed potatoes - my goodness, too much food, we could not finish it all! My daughter got the beef with onions. All yummy, all good. Make reservations if you can for the best seating.

Yelp
I went to the Huth in the musichaus and that's not on yelp, so I'll pick a random one and write a review. that's the first thing that pissed me off, there are 3-4 Huth restaurants that are simply called Huth, and you have to play a guessing game to realise which is which. I went here for a company dinner and went to 2 huths before i found the right one, when i finally arrived in the haus der music i got lost again, first i entered what looked like an entrance with and arrow pointing up but ended up in their appointments office, i went back down, went around the corner and found a piece of paper on the wall saying i had to go around the whole building to the entrance. This whole thing above took me 20 minutes, in the minus weather of Vienna was not nice at all, put a sign up at the corner that says Huth with an arrow or something, will cost not much. Finally when I found it i was seated, I will know break down the food/service. They brought us a mountain of bread with a type of butter which was good, the bread was also good. one thing i didn't appreciate was the waiters walking way to fast up the stairs to the floor above and vice versa that they kept dropping knifes and forks making a loud noise, bringing the calm talking atmosphere to a screeching halt and everyone was looking at them multiple times, till they dropped a plate on the little platform between stairs, other than that noise, it was quiet. next they brought out a beef carpaccio with rucola and balsamic syrup on it and Parmesan flakes. the carpaccio tasted like nothing, no salt what so ever and was bland tasting, not what i expected honestly. seeing as they had to prepare 19 steaks for us (as mentioned before it was a company dinner) I asked the Chef (who was constantly walking around the room in his work clothes and was a sore eye compared to everyone who was well dressed) if I could have my steak medium rare as I hate an overcooked steak, his only answer was "I can't take requests because there are 19 steaks I have to prepare and all of them will be cooked medium so I can have them brought out faster" that made me boil with anger because medium rare means the steak cooks less time so in theory it would be faster and secondly, I thought this was a 5 star high class restaurant, the year before at Livingstone the restaurant was packed full and they took individual steak orders of my company dinner. So finally the steak arrives and it's medium - DONE and barely pink in the middle, so here i was with a 500 gram steak that was as hard as rubber, had no taste to it as the seasoning was close to none and it was almost well done, any chef in his right mind knows a good proper steak it eaten medium - rare so that you can actually taste the meat and it's not DRY. Also it came with grilled vegetables on the side which were clearly fried and not grilled. so after this adventure the desert came out and it was chocolate molten cake, which was good but it tastes the same as the one i get in the store and did not taste fresh at all. All in all it was a horrible experience, don't get me wrong, I've had plenty of horrible experiences in restaurants, but never in a high class 5 star restaurant as this, my dinner must have costed my company roughly around 100 euros (the steak alone was 60 euros) this is money I would never spend myself to eat here, nothing was typically Austrian and for me personally it was a horrible experience, starting from the clumsy waiters and the sweaty chef walking around looking at you as you ate as if he was waiting for something from you while eating, to the horrible food. I will be 100% honest, I would not even send my worst enemy here.

Yelp
Had an enjoyable experience here on my first evening in the city. Good food, good service; Da Maxx

Yelp
We have been here many times. The food is excellent, the service mostly excellent. I order the veal meatballs with mashed potatoes, every time we are here. Can't remember what it is called in German. The meatballs are large, moist and the gravy is tasty. My husband has ordered many different dishes from the menu and he has yet to be disappointed with the choices. In addition, he loves the pumpkin soup when it is in season. It is best to book a table here.
google avatar

Hui C.

Yelp
Came here for a business dinner. Our local hosts took us here because we wanted some authentic Viennese cuisine. Its newer, hipper brother restaurant is across the street. This place has much more traditional decor. I had the traditional Viennese soup and the Zwiebelbraten. Both were very good. They also have a selection of local microbrews. Service was friendly. Overall, it was a good experience.

Yelp
Most enjoyable restaurant I ate at in Vienna. Ate there a couple times. Started with the bread and bacon fat - I know that's not the real name, but that's what it is - and is it good. Had the Wiener Schnitzel one time - delicious. It can come with cranberries - which is not 'authentic' by some natives, but it was very good. Had a meatball special the other time. It was very good as well. Service was good.

Yelp
Great Austrian classics and some dishes with a more contemporary taste. We were surprised to be able to get a table with no reservation on a beautiful Sunday evening. Location is great and the service was too. Lots of great wines by the glass at prices we wouldn't see at a dive happy hour in the States. We will definitely be back if we can ever get back to Austria again.

Frank E.

Yelp
We had just arrived in Vienna and found this place. They require reservations and were very busy but they managed to find a table for us. The service was cordial and helpful in explaining their special dishes. We chose the cordon blue and veal meatballs. Both were excellent and the price reasonable. We can't wait to have another meal here.

Tamara E.

Yelp
Great Viener Schnitzel with cranberry sauce! Try the red cabbage top. Very friendly staff.

Yelp
The Gastwirtschaft is one of the best Austrian cuisine restaurants in Vienna. The menu changes regularly, and its always good. Appetizers are delicious, main courses are excellent. My favorite side dish is the polenta. A good Austrian wine selection. Service is friendly and the owner is usually there in the evenings.

Victor S.

Yelp
That's good I found this place in Vienna. Best food I've ever experienced this trip to Vienna. Perfect Schnitzel, nice choice of Austrian wines. Place you'd pay a visit.

Todd W.

Yelp
After getting turned away from another highly recommended restaurant on our first night in Vienna, we walked around and ended up here. We had the veal meatballs and Wiener schnitzel -- both excellent, as was the potato salad topped with greens and cranberries on the side of the schnitzel. I have a feeling other places the rest of our visit will have a hard time measuring up to this.

Hal B.

Yelp
Huth has now taken the top spot in the various restaurants we've been to on Vienna trips. They have two menus, one traditional and one "modern reinterpretation". My wife ordered traditional fare, I went for modern. Everything we had was wonderful. Service was friendly and efficient. We had one tiny complaint: our English menus had no German on them and sometimes we had to assume we knew what something was whereas if we'd had the German name of the dish we would have known. No, that doesn't warrant knocking them down a star :-)

Andrew C.

Yelp
Loved this restaurant! Recommended by the club level concierge at the Ritz Carlton, it was a short walk and absolutely delicious. We had the viener schnitzel and the veal meatballs. Excellent Austrian red wine reasonably priced. We looked at the menus for their Italian and steak restaurants across the street and can't wait to try them.

Bob C.

Yelp
Outstanding in every way: gracious, attentive service, but not overbearing, good menu suggestions for authentic Austrian experience, all Austrian wine by the glass selection, light airy modern space and fairly priced...wish Huth was in my neighborhood.
