Huus Hotel, Gstaad, Swiss Alps - Explore & Book

"Gstaad is best known for traditional 5-star palaces, but Huus Hotel is something quite different. Designed by a Swede, it oozes laid-back Scandinavian charm from industrial-chic interiors. In the lounge, giant orange sofas sit alongside leather pouffes, statement lights, hand-picked coffee-table books and even the odd guitar hanging from the wall. The 136 bedrooms are similarly cool, with smokey-blue walls, toffee-brown cushions and copper lamps. It all combines to create a very stylish mountain retreat. The hotel attracts an all-encompassing crowd, from couples to families (there are dedicated play zones and family rooms); dogs are welcome, too. Skiing is the main attraction, with hundreds of kilometres of all-level pistes on the doorstep, but folk also come for other winter and summer activities in the surrounding Bernese Oberland, many of which are included in the rates. After a day of outdoor adventure, return for some pampering in the spa, a soak in the indoor pool, sophisticated food in the twinkling à la carte restaurant, or burgers and cocktails in the bar, all accompanied by sweeping mountain views. This gorgeous place has something for all tastes. Highs The lounge is a lovely buzzy hub, with its double height bar, bright orange sofas, bauble lamps and occasional live musicA daily activity is included in the rates - guided skiing, snowshoe walks and sledging in winter; hiking, mountain biking and more in summerLots of dining options: gourmet fare, informal buffets and tapas, bar food, even a fondue chalet in the groundsGreat for families, with connecting rooms and split-level 'gallery' rooms, an on-site kids club, and free ski sessions (including tuition) for younger kidsAn excellent spa with an indoor pool, an aromatic sauna, an ice fountain, a herbal steam bath and massages Lows It's larger than most i-escape hotels, but that doesn't mean it's short on characterGstaad is quite low, so it's not one of the most snow-sure ski resortsRestaurant service can be a little slow at busy timesBe prepared for DJ music and party vibes in the bar on Friday and Saturday evenings (until 11pm)" - Belinda Archer

Huus Gstaad (Gstaad, Swiss Alps) 6 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"With 250 kilometers of ski runs nearby, revelatory views of the Bernese Alps, and a renowned tradition of après-ski revelry, Gstaad is firmly entrenched in the upper echelons of Swiss ski culture. In fact, so rarefied are Gstaad’s high-end hotels, it’s possible to behave as if skiing is beside the point. Not at HUUS Gstaad, thankfully. This one is for the adventurers, slope-carvers, nature geeks, and wanderers-at-large, the alpinists who earn their good night’s sleep the good old-fashioned way." - Tablet Hotels

I spent two nights at this hotel with my wife. To be honest, our arrival didn't start off well. We arrived on Friday evening around 9:30PM and were greeted by a spacious, beautifully decorated lobby, with a bar at the back on the right and the reception on the left. Everything could have been perfect, except there was a DJ in the lobby playing music extremely loudly. Not just loud. Very loud. It was almost impossible to have a conversation with the receptionist without shouting and leaning over the counter to be heard. Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to have a DJ at such a high volume in a place where you expect a calm welcome? Music is fine, but it should match the setting. Apparently, most of the other guests felt the same way, as the lobby was almost empty, at most 10–15 guests were having a drink. Aside from this, everything was perfect: the rooms are very cozy, the restaurant is simply wonderful, and the breakfast buffet is remarkable. If it weren't for the DJ's music, I would have given 5/5 without hesitation. Sadly, this is the only thing that might stop us from coming back. What a shame!

I spent a week in this magnificent hotel. From the welcome in reception, where we were offered a selection of welcome drinks that made our trip start just right. The location and views from the room are breath taking, Not to talk about the views from the lobby! This area in the hotel is absolutely gorgeous, the decoration meticulously placed on each space amazes anybody. Now, THE BAR! Top notch cocktail bar in the lobby, the cocktail menu is shocking, they have something for every taste, high quality mixology you don’t expect to find out of the best bars in London/Bangkok/New York, and if you’re not sure what to go for, the bartenders will find something suitable for you. Alex in particular, she is an absolute rockstar, she will not just deliver yummy cocktails, but also a tailored experience, making the whole counter feel like spectators of a mixology show! None of this would have been as perfect if there hadn’t been a soundtrack to go with this amazing evenings, as the DJ playing on Thursday and Friday transported us as guests through a sensorial trip, playing a wide range of styles that you don’t hear any other place on the region, he managed to keep the spirits up for all of us from 4pm until 23 hours, shocker! Thank you inmenaly Huus Gstaad for thé experience , we will most defenetly come back! Well done

Stayed in a South facing suite with sweeping views of the valley. Very beautiful sunrise to start your day! Hotel amenities are good - nice heated pool, sauna, decent sized gym, a game room, kids play room, a fancy bar. Feels cosy and big at the same time. Service was pleasant enough, just not exceptional. No surprises as the staff per guest is rather limited. Breakfast spread was good in bakery, fruits, cold cuts and yoghurt section but a letdown in hot cooked section. Sausages were average. Many hits and minor misses - Huus was a 4.5 in my opinion.

I have several “pros”, but a couple important “cons” for this very cool and beautifully designed hotel.||I recently stayed here with my wife and 9 year old son. We LOVED the design of the hotel and immediately felt transported to the mountain getaway we desired for our visit to Gstaad. The food in the lobby area was excellent and the staff was very friendly. We also greatly enjoyed the included breakfast buffet. I told the omelette maker that he made one of the best ones I’ve ever had!||The room we got was comfortable and carefully designed and it had an awesome mountain view and sat above the pool area. We also loved having the accessibility to the game room and gym, both of which we used in our time there. The only single issue we had with the room was that there was no air-conditioning, and because clearly the climates are changing, I think the hotel should probably think about making adjustments for this in the hotter summer months. It got quite warm at night, which did affect our sleeping.||The single most important issue we had with the hotel was their prioritizing smokers over non-smokers. I understand that Europeans still do lean toward smoking in public places, but something we pointed out to the management, (who did listen) was that because of the smoking on the balcony and mostly all outdoor areas, we actually were not able to enjoy the magnificent views and fresh mountain air when we dined in the restaurants, upstairs and downstairs. And because they keep the front and back doors open in the main area, it was very hard to avoid the smoke. The irony of this is that the few people who do smoke actually dominate the nicest areas of the hotel, and the majority of us who do not (including children) either have to tolerate the unhealthy smoke or simply find somewhere else to go. This actually doesn’t seem very fair when you think about it this way. I did voice this to one of the managers, and he was receptive and understanding of my point of view, which I appreciated.||Otherwise, the indoor pool was great, and the grounds of the hotel were beautiful in that mountain setting. And everything was very well kept. And before we left, one of the managers gave us a tour of the underground “cave“ bar, which was totally awesome and unique.||I’m hoping that this hotels and others like it will understand what I’m bringing up here and make adjustments to accommodate a wider audience, and particularly people who are more health conscious in today’s world.

We are frequents to this beautiful hotel, we love to come in the evening for the amazing vibes DJ Nikksn brings to the lobby area. Amazing repertoire of music from the world, inter generation, going from Brazilian funk, British soul, dance hall, African vibes.. ETC Its very clear that he loves what he does, and transmits it to every one listening. A must if you fancy a good night out in gstaad.

Google
A superb hotel in Gstaad (Saanen), very close to Swiss attentions. I enjoyed two short stays at the hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean with great view (you need to select the right ones facing the valley- preferably on level 0). SPA and pool are clean and of high standards. Restaurant and bar are pricy but it is Swiss and valley of wealth 😃

If you’re planning to stay here, think twice. The rooms may be top-notch and the location good, but the service is pathetic—honestly, it felt more like a shady 1-star motel than a so-called 4-star hotel. The biggest shock? I requested just four bowls because I wanted to drink hot water. Instead of the basic courtesy you’d expect from any decent hotel, they slapped me with a charge of 15 Swiss francs for FOUR bowls. Yes, you read that right—CHF 15 for bowls. In all my travels and hotel stays, from budget to luxury, I have never experienced such a ridiculous, money-grabbing policy. Who on earth charges their guests for bowls? It’s laughable and shameful. A 4-star hotel is supposed to provide comfort and service. Here, it’s just overpriced rooms with the kind of service that screams cheap, greedy, and clueless about hospitality. This experience was downright insulting, and I will make sure never to recommend this place to anyone in my family or friends’ circle. If the management thinks this is acceptable, they need to strip off their 4-star tag immediately—it’s misleading. At best, this place deserves 1 star, and that’s only for the room quality. Everything else is an embarrassment. Save yourself the frustration—there are far better hotels in Gstaad that actually understand what hospitality means.

Yelp
Huus Gstaad talks a big game and it made us excited to stay for three nights for months. Free daily activities? A game room? Bikes? There was so much to look forward to. Did it live up to the hype? Kind of. Upon check in, we were informed that there's one free activity included a day that's decided beforehand. You must sign up the day prior by 15.00. Checking in around 16.00 on Monday and leaving Tuesday, we could only sign up for a Wednesday activity. The hotel itself is large with a lobby, bar, overpriced restaurants, a game area, kids stations, a spa, pool, and other activities. The winning elements of the trip were the free mountain bike rentals, the pool, spa area, and views. Breakfast included is really good and plenty of options, including gluten free options. The rooms were nice with closet space, a balcony, drinking water, etc. A few things to note: 1) There's no AC and the rooms get hot. There's also only a heavy blanket on the bed and no sheets to use as a cover. 2) The game room is in disrepair with half of the games not working it in poor condition. 3) Staff aren't very friendly. They are helpful just cold.

Yelp
This Starwood hotel group boutique hotel is an absolute delight to stay at. The level of design detail and the high quality throughout the hotel make for a thoroughly wonderful experience. Not only were the aesthetics tastefully chosen, the entire experience was complemented by great food at the multiple restaurants on site and the variety of activities and services offered. It makes for a perfect romantic couples stay as well as a family vacation given the good variety of offerings for the kids. The charming town of Saanen is an invigorating 15 minute walk or a complimentary 5 minute shuttle ride away.
