Very nice geothermal area in the middle of the Highlands on the F35. It steams and whistles and smokes and bubbles that it is a real pleasure. From Selfoss 160 and from Blöndous 113km, partly good gravel, driving time very weather and vehicle dependent. Developed by small visitor center; several shorter hiking trails are established. Some hot springs where you can splash around. Overnight stay possible at campsites and some rooms. Good food!

Unique place. I was here twice and I would come again if I am in Iceland. Peaceful, quiet and secluded.

I think it’s a cool place to visit, 500 Isk per person is reasonable for the use of the hot pond and facilities in my opinion, although there were no clearly available showers (but then again we didn’t ask, we just wiped off and changed in the loos) and it’s not exactly mandatory and you definitely aren’t forced to pay it if you’re just walking around. It wasn’t convenient that the outside loos were all locked, we had to go inside. In the hot pond you can regulate the temperature by using two pipes and it was quite perfect when we arrived, lukewarm on one side and very hot on the other so you could move around and decide where you want to be. I would have appreciated a recommendation to not wear jewellery as I didn’t realise the water will ruin my silver rings, hopefully I can fix it with polish when I am home 😬 I have been to several hot ponds and it never happened before so I guess this one has stronger mineral content. Had waffles, they were nice but don’t expect them to be your main meal, they are really dessert sized ;) Overall you can walk around for about 10-30 months minutes and then chill in the hot pond, it’s in the absolute middle of nowhere and it’s a cool experience.

Absolutely beautiful location and view. The hospitality however brings the rating way down. The guy running the front desk either hates Americans or black people. Either way he was very rude towards us and extremely friendly with everyone else who entered the reception area while we were sitting in the dining area. We also concluded the water in the pool is maintained to be aggressively hot to keep visitors moving through quickly. While this sounds stupid, they have the ability to cool the pool down with a running stream, but the choice was made to pump in even more scolding water.

Hot pot was quite hot, some spots were quite burning. Pipe with cold water helped. 😃 "Thank you" the guy who decided to smoke weed right in the pool and destroyed my experience. I arrived after midnight and before going to hot pot I wanted to take a shower ( had a long day), but there was only cold water. In the morning only hot. So I guess you have just one option. Area where to wash dishes and take tap water had as well hot water at the morning. Went inside in the reception to get water, but the guy was kind of ignoring me all the time, as well when I went to pay for camping.😃 Camping fee 2,200+ 500kr for using parking, hot pot, bathrooms

There were between 100-150 people camping at this site when I stayed. The parking lot was fully packed with camper vans, and the field was completely full of tents from end to end. There is only one toilet stall and one urinal in the men's restroom. You do the math. For how much they are making in revenue per camper, and how many people they are cramming in here, they should certainly be able to afford more expansive facilities. The soaking pool is also laughably tiny for the number of people. The food at the restaurant was fantastic, and the area itself is beautiful, but I would not recommend camping or attempting to soak here unless you like being packed in like a sardine.
