We booked via OTA with discount so the price was definitely worth it for us, got it for around 110 USD a night. You’re in the middle of nowhere but the views in the morning are amazing - can see the snow capped mountains, there’s a hill on the back of the hostel. Kitchen was big enough and we didn’t have to fight with others to cook our dinner. But of course it’s really in the middle of nowhere, so you’ve to get your groceries at Vik before coming over. But it’s a good stop between Hella etc. and Jokulsarlon since it’s a very long drive. We drove on a 2WD across the gravel road, so have to drive very slowly but it’s fine for a 2WD. Just note there are multiple potholes along the way. Overall for the price and the location, it’s definitely ok. Fosshotel nearby isn’t cheap.

The room we got was really spacious. I'd say the place is well-prepared to host groups of tourists as it offers a large kitchen/dining area and has many toilets. Sometimes you need to wait to take a shower, but hey, it's a hostel. The location is amazing. You can admire and listen to a lot of birds. Otherwise quiet and secluded.

The room for the 4 of us was very small and not worth the price we paid. There were 3 toilets with showers on our second floor which was not adequate. The place is however clean & tidy including the kitchens and large open plan dinning area. The location and surroundings were great teaming with birdlife which I enjoyed. For those interested here's the official info you need to know for your stay : Self-check in code is sent one day before arrival for a lockbox that is on your left as you enter the hostel. The code is NOT in the booking confirmation. It is on your booking account in the MESSAGES section. You should be able to find it in your email as well, either inbox or spam, one day before arrival. There is a hair dryer in the room and the room comes ready with made up beds and towels. We have 3 kitchens,2x refrigerators, a small freezing area on top of one of the refrigerators, an oven, a microwave, water boiler and coffee machine that needs coffee powder. We provide all pots, pans and cutlery. You need to bring food items like salt, oil, coffee powder. Most of our showers are on the ground floor, while most of the rooms are on the upper floor. If the showers upstairs are busy, please go to the corridor on the ground floor to find more showers."

I can't give this 5 stars but nowhere I stayed in Iceland deserved 5 stars to be fair. I think the current 4.2 rating is unfair. This hostel doesn't warrant a rating that low, there's nothing bad about it. Room was clean and spacious, overall place was clean. Nightly price is too high but I found almost all hotels in Iceland too high.

The price matches the quality of the stay. The location is very remote, which adds to its charm. The rooms are adequate, and the kitchen is well-equipped. The only downside was that during my stay, there was a regional power outage, and the supposed emergency generator took a long time to activate.

Hard to access but OK if you got car. A lot of room and 4 kitchen but the kitchen is full and take time. Refrigerator is also full. We are there during end Sept 2023 and is not even peak season but there is a lot of people. Room is clean and have all the necessity. Toilet is limited too but the queue is not that bad.

Staff is friendly, instructions are clear. Enough bathrooms for all the rooms inside. Rooms are a bit small, beds are not so comfortable and the kitchens are a bit crowded - 3 kitchens for all rooms. The location is great! We got a chance to see auroras there as you have a clear view for the north.

I love their kitchens! There's 4 or more of them. You don't need to wait for others to finish cooking. You need to leave your dirty shoes at the entrance and the bathrooms/toilets are clean, so are the rooms. The beds were comfortable! I booked them again for my next trip.
