Hyams Beach Seaside Cottages

We used to come here and stay this place a few years ago... Our trip this time reminded us of why we stopped coming. Cottages were looking tired and needed a paint job on the outside. As well as internally. The money that they are charging and making per cottage surely they can invest back in and tidy them up. We calculated assuming 80% occupancy and an average of $300 a night for a year the 7 cottages pull in 600,000 per year. And unfortunately Hyams Beach is not the quiet little place anymore.. it was full of people and cars driving up and down the streets jockeying to find a parking spot.. the beach was very overcrowded, and this was October, it was more like Bondi on a summer's day... Must be soo much worse in summer across the end of the year. And unfortunately during our stay right next door was a building being fully renovated so on the Friday morning at 07:00 and also on a Saturday morning at 07:00 power saws and nail guns and a blaring radio that went till 3 pm both days... The people who run this place obviously knew this construction was occurring as it looked like it has been going for a while... and they did not offer a discounted price or even give prior warning when we made the booking. Not recommended! There are plenty of other places in the Shoalhaven to visit.

Delightful luxury couples accommodation. Beautifully appointed. Everything you need for a couples getaway. Free use of BBQ and laundry. Check in is easy and uncomplicated. The position is perfect, right across from beautiful Hyams Beach.

Excellent location, cute old world charm and nicely decorated, but a bit underwhelming in terms of amenities (just what are you supposed to do with a microwave in a room without any other cooking facilities?). Bar fridge only . ||If you’re a fan of fresh air, then don’t stay here. The cottages are quaint but it turns out that means tiny windows that don’t all open. Nearly impossible to get a decent breeze through and with neither door having a fly screen so it was a choice of stuffy air or letting the mozzies in. ||I understand it’s difficult when you’re working with a historic building so air conditioning and kitchens are probably an impossibility. ||Did I have a good time? Yes. ||Do I wish I’d researched more thoroughly and found somewhere with a decent kitchen and aircon? Yes. ||It was a pleasant stay, and I loved the history, but it’s really only suitable for one or two nights at the most.

We stayed in cottage 1 at the front of the street. Seaview from the little balcony/deck but not a full vista which is fine because the beach is literally a hop, skip and jump away. The cottage was clean, bed comfy and nice amenities in the bathroom. A couple of things to be aware of - it is small in height, so if you're tall, don't stretch and watch your head going down the stairs! There's screens on the windows but not the doors. It's also not great for people with mobility issues, it's not terrible but if you have a dodgy hip/knee navigating the pebbled driveway to walk to the cottage, the cottage stairs and the bathroom is a bit tricky. The 'kitchen' has a bar fridge and microwave but there is a BBQ out back. We weren't intending to cook so not a problem but be mindful of this if you're planning to 'stay in' for your vacation. Location is serene, super peaceful and stunning - although the defence base down the road was conducting night exercises with noisy choppers when we were there! WiFi was patchy but this is fully disclosed during booking process. There's only one cafe at Hyams (which does excellent coffee) and it stocks a few basics too. It's about a 10-15 minute drive from Huskisson and there's loads of places to explore nearby. Overall I suggest thinking about your holiday goals - if you want to be able to walk to nearby cafes/resgtaurants/sights then it may not be the best place to stay; if you want to relax, read a book and not move then it may be perfect.

Very affordable place to stay right across from the beach. Rooms have good privacy ( couldn't hear any snoring). Little heaters keep the whole interior toasty. Mobile service is very patchy. Driveway is not convenient when it's raining. Easy access to a handful of beautiful nature trails.

The cottages are 1930s vintage, but recently renovated and updated, with antiques maintaining the historic atmosphere. A porch overlooks a creek. Design of the cabins allows privacy. No children was a bonus for us. A small kitchenette with microwave and refrigerator was available. Bed is comfortable. Modern walk in shower. The cabin was spotless. The property is across the street from Hyams Beach, a mile long white sand beach. Other beaches within walking distance.

Had a beautiful stay overlooking the wonderful Hyams beach. A lovely romantic seaside getaway with everything you need we only left to soon in the water. The bathrooms had a great spa bath and great open plan living. It was an amazing escape that I would definately recommend... Loved it!

Beautiful, quiet getaway to celebrate hubby’s 50th. Everything you need was here.. warm & cosy.. ticked off the bucket list & not disappointed at all. Thinking we may even make this an annual getaway as I watched the daily grind stress lift off my husbands shoulders..

We wanted a cozy hideout that was near the beach! This was exactly what we were looking for and the cottages are extremely charming! I love that the beach is just across the road, literally a 30 second walk away! This place is great for couples as you are left undisturbed! Very easy to book, Angie and Wendy were both sweet and helpful! One thing to mention, no wifi and cellular connection is a bit spotty--however, more reason to truly unplug and relax!
