Hyatt Centric Montevideo (Montevideo, Uruguay) 6 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The “Centric” in Hyatt Centric Montevideo refers partly to its location — the hotel is outside the historic center, but metaphorically at the heart of the action, in the stylish and desirable neighborhood of Pocitos — and partly to the mega-chain’s new sub-brand. The Uruguayan iteration is the latest in a line of boutique-style hotels aimed at a more youthful crowd, with bolder modern design and tech-friendly rooms." - Tablet Hotels

The Hyatt Centric in the Pocitos neighborhood was the home-base for our recent weeklong stay in Montevideo. The location, right across from the iconic Montevideo "Letters", was convenient and we enjoyed a majestic view of the Rio de Plata from our room. Our room itself was spectacular -- we had booked a suite but received a complementary upgrade on arrival to a suite so large that it was literally larger than some two bedroom apartments we've lived in. Aside from dodgy in-room wifi, everything was comfortable, clean, and convenient. We particularly appreciated the large and well-appointed bathroom. One tired afternoon, we enjoyed the warm indoor pool, we spent plenty of time in the large and active lobby, and the hotel restaurant, Plantado, really exceeded our expectations for both quality of food and service, so much so that we went back several times during our stay. We'd certainly stay here again.

This is a great hotel and I've stayed here several times. The staff are super helpful! They even managed to help us recover left items after we caught our flight out. The breakfast buffet is amazing and has a wide variety of food and drink option. You either get a great city view or a river/ocean view. The hotel is right at the start of the city beach walk and right on a main thoroughfare along the water. Its not particularly close to downtown or activites but is a 20minite or so walk from the mall and withing walking distance of plenty of restaurants.

This is a beautiful hotel. Great staff, easy checkin, great dining room, bar and cafe areas. This hotel had a great atmosphere- very artistic & there are lots of different areas around the lobby to find your own little corner. Rooms were fairly standard but spacious. Hotel is across road from beachfront promenade. Monte video shopping mall was walking distance.

From the moment I arrived I felt welcomed. I went down to eat dinner late at night and they had vegan food for me. That was delicious. The rooms were clean and quiet. The amenities were great. Julieta at breakfast help me find vegan food so I was set for the week while I was there. I was worried that I wasn’t going to find anything to eat, but I had a tasty breakfast every morning! All of the amenities at this hotel are fantastic. But the location is what’s best. It’s right across from the Montevideo letters and the beach.

Excellent services!! We appreciated everything that we needed.||We use buquebus to visit Argentina, the people of the hotel receive our lounge 2 days before stay in the hotel. That kind of services for my family is honorable.

The hotel's location was magnificent. I had a great view of the ocean. Shopping, restaurants were nearby. Breakfast was terrific every morning and the staff was excellent. Special kudos to housekeeping. The room was in excellent shape every day.

Lovely hotel in a good location opposite the waterfront. ||Room was large with a big comfortable bed. Lots of space with a lounge & table. Big bathroom with a large walk in shower. There is a seperate room with the toilet. ||The decor through is colourful & modern. The hotel looks very well maintained. Staff during my stay were helpful & friendly. ||There is a big TV with a large selection of channels. There are a couple of English news stations plus a bunch of HBO stations also in English. Wifi is good throughout the hotel. ||There is a good size gym with an indoor swimming pool. ||There is an excellent breakfast with a good selection of hot and cold dishes. ||The only downside as a tourist is that the old town & main sites are not in walking distance so you will need to rely on taxis / uber to get around.

We recently stayed at the Hyatt Centric in Montevideo, and while there were definitely some highlights, our overall experience left us feeling underwhelmed.||||Let’s start with the positives. The location is absolutely unbeatable—steps from the Rambla and within walking distance to great restaurants, shops, and the river. The lobby is gorgeous, modern, and inviting—exactly what you’d hope for when arriving at a Hyatt-branded property. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, and we genuinely appreciated their professionalism… with the exception of one male bartender whose attitude could use a little polishing.||||Now for the not-so-great parts.||||The room itself felt small and cramped, which was manageable—but the cleanliness (or lack thereof) was disappointing. The bathroom wasn’t thoroughly cleaned, and the overall condition of the room didn’t reflect the standards we’ve come to expect from Hyatt. We were surprised that the room didn’t have an iron or ironing board—a small thing, but worth noting for travelers who like to look halfway put-together.||||Honestly, if the room had been cleaner and a bit more thoughtfully maintained, we might have looked past the other details. But given the price point, we expected more.||||Would we return? Probably not—unless the rate was significantly lower and we had some kind of assurance that the rooms were better maintained.||||It’s a shame, really. This hotel has all the makings of a great stay, but unfortunately, the rooms just didn’t deliver.
