This was hands down one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a so-called 5-star hotel. I genuinely have no idea how Hyatt Regency Baku maintains its five-star rating—it’s a disservice to the Hyatt brand name.
Right from the start, things were off. They keep a count of the complimentary water bottles and charge you for any extras—which is bizarre for a hotel of this category. There was no kettle or basic amenities in the room, which made things even more frustrating. We had a baby with us and needed hot water—something any decent hotel should provide without hesitation. Instead, we had to pay for it, and when we asked again the next morning (willing to pay), they brought hot water in a tiny tea cup. Absolutely ridiculous.
The breakfast was another disaster. We went well within the scheduled time, yet most of the items were already finished—almost a full hour before breakfast was supposed to end. The selection was poor, and staff didn’t seem concerned about replenishing anything.
The room itself was poorly lit and gave off such a dull, negative vibe. The moment we stepped in, we felt uncomfortable—like we just wanted to get out.
Overall, this was not just disappointing, it was frustrating and upsetting. Definitely not what you'd expect from a Hyatt Regency. I would not recommend staying here.
