Nice hotel but with annoying issues. |First Issue: The elevators are problematic. You not only have to swipe your room key to get to your floor, but also have to press your floor button, a two step process that is awkward, especially in a crowded elevator (and they often were); next, there is confusion as to which elevator bank to use. It all depends on which floor your room is and if you’re going up or down; finally, one elevator was out of order during our stay and sometimes the other elevators would not move for several minutes when called, the result was frustrating waits, crowds, and mad rushes to available elevators. Second Issue: the hotel has several very nice pools sunny only in the afternoon. The 12th floor pool that has the largest lounge deck has towels but no changing facilities. It has non-usable, senseless lockers in a hallway leading to the pool area between the men’s and ladies rooms. The 14th floor “adult” pool is next to the gym. Here there is a wasted changing room with showers and a steam room. BUT, the steam room was permanently out of order, there were no towels anywhere ever, no soap or shampoo, and no attendant anywhere. What is the point? Pools are open from 8AM to 8PM, but one morning during our stay the pool area was still locked until 8:10AM after I complained. Verdict: pool areas are attractive but poorly designed for guests’ comfort. It is, however, a fixable problem. Finally, The Hyatt was undergoing renovations. One night we heard noise and complained. It immediately stopped. There was also no water in the city the first two days of our stay. That was not fun, but it wasn’t the hotel’s fault. Good Things: Breakfast is great! The employees are wonderful! All of them are friendly and charming and go out of their way to cater to guest. It was always a pleasure to interact with them. |Summary: the Hyatt Regency could use some serious tweaking.
