I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Friso one night for a quick business trip.
The hotel is attached to the Stonebriar Center mall. While that did not impact me, I can see it as a great benefit if you're staying more than a day or two.
Parking was simple and ample, no charge for self parking but valet is also available.
The entire hotel is clean and new but I think it's been around a few years.
I was upgraded to a deluxe king corner room and it was great. The room was good size, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was awesome. The toilet was separated from the shower and sink area, so if you're a couple, there's options!
The room was very clean upon arrival.
I used the gym and it was large, had free weights and lots of cardio equipment, very clean and felt nice.
I had a bit of a hiccup upon check in....I used mobile check in, which should negate the need for a lengthy check in at the desk. In the past, I have simply shown ID or just my Hyatt app check-in, got my key and moved on.
This check in requested my ID and form of payment...which caused a delay because I don't travel with all my cards. I was willing to give another card but had purposely used my Chase Hyatt card and I was frustrated about the change.
The employees recognized my frustration and remained calm and polite, ultimately correcting the matter, using my original card and getting me checked in.
The employees' smiles and professional demeanor, despite my obvious frustration, kept me from blowing a gasket and demonstrated great customer service skills.
I also received a follow up communication, explaining exactly why the mobile check in didn't flow well this visit...due to them upgrading me.
The communication was another sign of great customer service.
Things happen during travel and sometimes customers aren't "in the mood" for it....I think this was a great example of how solid training and expectations can keep everything positive.
