Hyatt Regency Kinabalu

Stayed at the Hyatt Regency Kota Kinabalu recently. While the room was clean and comfortable, the overall feel was slightly dated and could benefit from refurbishment. Facilities were adequate but nothing particularly impressive. The gym, in particular, was fairly basic and could use some upgrading. Overall, a decent stay.

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Kota Kinabalu with my family for 3 nights in April 2025. Initially, we were given the room as per our booking, but upon request, the staff promptly arranged interconnected rooms for us, which was very convenient for our family. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable.The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the breakfast. It was exceptional – from live cooking stations to a wide variety of Indian vegetarian options with live juice extraction point, everything was spot on. The spread was so generous and satisfying that it kept us full for most of the day. Truly a delightful experience!Highly recommended for families looking for comfort, great service, and amazing food.

The hotel personnel were outstanding—attentive, courteous, and always ready to assist with a smile. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep, and the in-house toiletries were thoughtfully prepared and of good quality. Breakfast was another highlight, offering a wide variety of delicious options to suit every taste. We truly enjoyed the generous spread and left feeling satisfied and well-fed.

This our second stay, the first was in Jan 2025. We like the room which is clean and comfortable. The deco is traditional and regal. We also like the hotel because it is walking distance away from the seafood food centre. My only grouse is that the old-fashioned cable TV should be replaced with an Internet Google/Adroid TV so that I can use my goto app like YouTube for news and entertainment.

Nice hotel with a very good location. Close to Gaya street where there are many eateries and where the wkend market is located. Next to the iconic round about and the sea front. The hotel may have been look dated, but the rooms looks to have been refurbished since last stayed here.Rooms is spacious and bed is comfortable. No issue with cleanliness. Didn't use any of the facilities as we just stayed a night before heading out to KK park. Good value for money.

Hyatt Regency Kinabalu is a comfortable, well located hotel right by the waterfront and Gaya Street. Rooms are spacious and clean, with sea or city views. The breakfast buffet is impressive wide variety with live cooking stations and fresh coffee . The outdoor pool, located just off the breakfast room, offers sea views and a relaxed vibe with lounge chairs and a bar, though it’s a bit small and can feel exposed . Some parts of the hotel are dated, but the friendly staff and great location make it a solid choice for stays in Kota Kinabalu.

Our best vacation! We have been coming to this hotel for 4 years, usually for 4-5 weeks. The staff make our stay memorable. Regency Club is the best of all hotels. Thank you Emily, Ruth, Hamzi , Danzil and the rest for the excellent service. We got a very nice suite as always. The permanent maid was waiting with a perfectly clean room. Jonny and Antoni were waiting at the pool with a clean environment and a reserved sunbed. After hundreds of 5 star hotels in 151 countries, KK Regency is of course not the newest and most beautiful hotel, but you can have a perfect time. Excellent chefs and management, which is why the staff have been working here for decades. . thank you for the excellent hosting!

Shout out to Azrie, who cleaned my room with such detail and so friendly and helpful! He was delightful to talk to - had such good command of the English language too! Can't compliment him enough for his services! Also shout out to Lazarus in the club lounge for providing the family and I with excellent service..,in fact, shout out to all the staff for being so friendly and helpful! The rooms were well appointed and clean. Can't beat the location! Mall next door - and other malls are walking distance...for clothing, shoes, massages, nails, hair...food, to book tourist attractions, Laundromats across street and also across main road! At laundromat24- you just download app, put in some credits, then drop off at a locker before 10 am and it's washed and folded at such a good price!! Lots of food options near to hotel, the best hand pulled roti, Durian market, night markets.....The pool is a nice place to chill after a sweaty day of activities. It is an older Hyatt so hallways may reflect age, but rooms and common areas such as the Regency Club, dining area, pool area is updated and nice. Well worth it - rate is unbeatable for the Hyatt experience. KK is beautiful, lots to explore, many speak English, and the food is incredible, especially the Seafood. 5 star for under $100 YES PLEASE!!! Thanks Hyatt KK, you ROCK!

On one level it's striking to stay at a nice Hotel that is every bit a Hyatt Regency, and then walk out the door to a more local culture that surrounds the entire property. I made it a point to get out of the luxury bubble and explore the town. There's an indoor mall next door, an interesting downtown area, and some nice waterside sights. I enjoyed my stay, the view out my window, the pool, the lounge and the hearty breakfast the next morning. Staff members were great. The room was nicely appointed, I slept well after a long trip from SFO via Hong Kong, the shower was refreshing, and I finally figured out what the green arrow on the ceiling was all about. That would be the direction of Mecca, as Malaysia is a Muslim country.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Regency in Kota Kinabalu. The lobby is beautiful; there is a grand piano with a sitting area, while there are balconies attached to some rooms that face inside to the lobby. Each and every staff member was courteous and very helpful-- one of the bartenders at the pool bar even made me a drink I requested and said they may put the recipe on the menu (i.e. watermelon juice and vodka on the rocks, with a slice of watermelon as a garnish ;) ). From the moment we walked in to the moment we checked out, the staff was always tending to our needs. We enjoyed sitting in the lobby piano bar each night while having a few drinks and listening to the classical piano tunes. The room was also very nice and had a modern layout, with a bathroom encased in wooden sliding doors (therefore, the bathroom and bedroom could be "one" if you wanted). The beds were super comfy and I loved the pillows. Nice shower too. We had breakfast both mornings and there were plenty of both Western and Asian options. Great tables near the windows to view the sea and the pool. The pool was very nice and located across the street from the sea, so you have a great view of the natural "pool." There is a pool bar, as well. Highly recommended!
