Hyatt Offers Free COVID Testing at Mexico, Caribbean Hotels - AFAR

"Through May 31, 2021 this resort is offering complimentary on-site COVID-19 testing (PCR or rapid antigen) for up to two registered guests per room to help travelers meet the U.S. CDC's pretravel testing requirement of a negative test within 72 hours. Complimentary tests require a minimum length of stay that varies by property and additional on-property tests can be purchased. If a guest tests positive and must delay travel, participating properties will allow extended stays of up to 14 additional nights, but the up-to-50% off travel-delay room-rate discount does not apply to Hyatt Zilara and Hyatt Ziva properties; food and beverage discounts of up to 30% (excluding alcohol) may still be available. Complimentary testing is only available to guests traveling to the United States, and the company says it plans to expand testing availability across the Americas and globally." - Michelle Baran

During our recent stay, we experienced a mix of positives and areas that need improvement. The food, while good, was inconsistent at the specialized restaurants (Petit Pariz & Fuzion). However, the Choicez buffet stood out, consistently offering high-quality food and excellent service throughout our stay. I thought I would get tired of eating at a buffet across a week, but this was not the case! The curry goat was the biggest surprise and a dish that I was always searching for during our stay.||The hotel’s infrastructure needs updating. The high humidity in the area led to slippery floors and a sometimes uncomfortable, damp feel in the lobby and hotel rooms. This could be improved with better ventilation and maintenance. The beach area (while man-made) was nice, and the main pools were maintained well. I will say that the pools do NOT open until 9 AM (due to maintenance), so the beach is the only option for early risers. ||One significant downside was the room experience. Rooms that didn’t face the main pools were impacted by loud music and hotel programming that extended until 10 PM or later. This made it challenging for families with young children to get adequate rest. On our first night, our room faced the main pool but was situated next to the Kids Club, which allowed children to sing karaoke until 9 PM on a Sunday, adding to the noise disruption.||While the resort offers many attractive features, these issues with noise and the need for updates are factors to consider, particularly for families seeking a relaxing and fun experience.

This was our first time in Jamaica and we had planned our wedding at the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall. We were treated wonderful while we vacationed and had our wedding at the resort. Once we got to the resort we were greeted and shown to our room by the hospitality staff. We were very fortunate to be upgraded to a butler suite and our butlers were top notch and very attentive to our needs. Kerrian, Peta-Gay, and Toni-Ann were absolutely amazing taking care of every detail. My son really enjoyed being pampered and brought his grilled cheese to the pool when we were there and that made him feel special. The housekeeping staff made sure everything was taken care of in our room and left no stone unturned. We also really appreciated our bartenders especially Danicoy who was very kind and helpful to whatever we needed while we were at the pool. There was also plenty of food choices to choose from during our trip along with plenty of other activities to keep you occupied no matter what activity you would want to participate in. Overall we would definitely recommend this resort whether you’re bringing your family or just bringing your significant other.

I had very high hopes as alot of great reviews and big hotel name means high quality. We spent 5 nights in the butler suite and while our butlers were nice ladies. They didn’t quite meet our expectations. We were traveling with small children and they were booking late dinners. Not much initiative was taken we had to tell them to do everything. This is not our first time using butler service so we had high expectations. Butler service just makes your vacation more relaxing. I expected better more personable service. Now the room, they need to do better they have beautiful limestone on the floors and quarts in the restrooms. Mold in the grout of the shower. They just throw caulk on top of mold. I had to shower in the dark. It’s too humid to not have ventilation in the restroom. Do better Hyatt! Other than that it was a very relaxing vacation. Our kids had a good time and while we traveled with young kids we also enjoyed ourselves.

We were treated like royalty! The butlers were very attentive and the staff was helpful. Some of the best service we have had in awhile! The premises was clean although there is a need for carpeting in some sections (a little updating is needed in various areas). The food was pretty good too. We had a good time at the white party! t also had a laid back feel which I loved. Overall I definitely recommend this resort!

BE SURE TO READ THE ENTIRE REVIEW! A few years ago, I stayed at this resort and had a very unsettling experience that left me hesitant to return. After having only a couple of drinks over the course of several hours, I suddenly became extremely ill and had to be rushed to the on-site urgent care. I was treated with IV fluids and monitored for a few hours, and my husband was forced to pay $1,400 on the spot for this care — an expense we were not prepared for. At the time, I couldn’t understand what had caused such an extreme reaction since I am not a heavy drinker, and nothing like that had ever happened to me before.||Fast forward to our most recent visit. While at the resort, I witnessed whiskey being poured into a jug labeled as rum punch — the exact pre-made drink I had consumed years ago before falling ill. It was a shocking moment, but also one that finally gave me clarity on what likely caused my episode back then. For those who may enjoy the pre-mixed drinks at this resort, I share this as a word of caution: stick to drinks made directly in front of you by the bartender. I now know better than to touch anything pre-made, and I wish I had known this sooner.||That said, I want to be fair in my review because this most recent stay was truly wonderful in many ways. We stayed in the Rose building for the first time, and the rooms were immaculate — spacious, beautifully laid out, and very comfortable. The service was excellent across the board, with staff members who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.||The food has definitely improved since our last visit — it was seasoned perfectly, flavorful, and felt like a true upgrade. Nightlife was also livelier, with impressive live concerts and entertainment that kept the evenings fun and engaging.||Because of these upgrades, Hyatt Zilara/Ziva Montego Bay has made its way back into my top ten favorite resorts. I can see why it remains my husband’s favorite. However, due to the ordeal I went through on my previous visit and the way it was handled, I cannot give a full five-star rating. Still, I’m thankful for the clarity I now have, and I appreciate the improvements the resort has made in many other areas.

I went with my family of wife and two kids 9 / 12 and stayed in a junior two bedroom ocean front suite. We mainly stayed on site with the exception of an off site shopping trip about fifteen minutes away to break up monotony.||||Room service was daily and included towel refresh. Products available in room were mainly environmentally sustainable and reusable. Condition of room wait fairly updated but could do with some more modernization of outlets and shower facilities.||||Food options were buffet style with poolside and beach offerings available and part of the experience including many drinks and cocktails.||||Other food options included at no additional cost were a French bistro style, Italian restaurant, and Asian fusion teppanyaki as well as a British pub and snack stations although we only did the French bistro.||||We would definitely consider another experience at either this Hyatt or some other location in the near future.

My sons and I had a guys trip to Hyatt Ziva and had a wonderful time. The grounds are well kept and the location is convenient. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Food was hit or miss, Choicez was a disappointment but breakfast as Calypso and the Jerk Hut were so good!! The star of the entire week was the Tuesday night Street Fair, a Jamaica BBQ with several different grills, buffet and drink stations. The pools were beautiful, clean, and never felt crowded. The entertainment staff keep everyone entertained. Drinks are good and the pool staff keeps them coming. Beach is beautiful but on the smaller side with plenty of shade for lounging. Overall this is an excellent resort for families, beautiful design but some age is showing, but the staff, location, and vibes make this worth it!!

We had a fantastic 5 day family vacation at Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall. We were greeted by helpful staff and our butler arranged all our meals, they were always available and willing to go out of their way to help you. Thank you to our three dedicated butlers Worren, Dexter, and Kevin- you guys made our stay amazing! Also, our suite and the facilities were very clean, restaurants were delicious and the kids club staff made our nights very fun, mt daughter loved the activities and the dancing. We loved Jamaica and our time at the resort.
