Hands down the best coffee I've had in Portland! Trust me I've had a LOT of coffee at different shops and this one is the best! The service, location and interior was all great and clean. Now the coffee was phenomenal! Smooth and not acidic at all. I had their seasonal banana cloud latte (aka the best latte ever). I would order 12 more. My boyfriend had the lemon meringue cloud matcha and it was divine as well. It's a hidden gem for sure, go try it!!

I love this place! This is such a gem on Williams Street in North Portland. It is a queer immigrant owned cafe and the owners are always so kind. I feel very welcomed and comfortable there. The space is clean, modern and beautiful. I love the Greek touch. The coffee itself is so good. The flavors are all house made I believe which is really important to me when I go to a coffee shop. Oh and they have the BEST cold foam top. I only wish it was bigger so I could sit down and work longer.

Their coffee is excellent, and sometimes they release special coffees and matcha drinks that sell out fast. The pastries are also great, and they offer vegan options from time to time. My goal is to try every drink on the menu, starting with the specialties. The interior is cute and cozy, with limited seating. I've seen people go in to work or just have a little chat. They also have seating outside. This is definitely a must-visit place!

Hypnos Coffee in Portland is truly a hidden gem — every single drink they make is absolutely amazing! You can tell how much care and creativity goes into their menu, and it shows in every sip. My personal favorite (and hands-down the best mocha I've ever had in my life) is the Bon Bon Iced Mocha. I will literally drive out of my way just to get one. It’s rich, smooth, perfectly balanced, and just… next level. Every time I walk out of the shop and take that first sip, I do a little happy dance — no joke. Hypnos is that good. If you haven’t tried them yet, you’re seriously missing out.

My husband and I came here after seeing all of the great reviews, and we are now hooked! The coffee drinks (we had) were so delicious and the barista helping us/making our drinks was so kind, helpful, and did a fantastic job! We will definitely make the long drive regularly to get Hypnos coffee. It’s well worth it!

This coffee shop is so impressive!! The location is bright and beautiful and the drinks are so delicious. My husband and I visit frequently and have tried a few things off the menu and nothing disappoints. My favorite is the matcha!

Really cute little coffee shop. Much needed addition to this street. It’s a little bit eerily quiet as far as the people that gather but that can be a good thing. Especially if you’re trying to read or do quiet work. Music is on point, drinks are inventive and not too sweet. Would absolutely return. I used to live in apartments on this street and wish this was here when I was so I could be here frequently! Just updating my review a year later to say I'm unhealthily obsessed with their coffee. Truly some of the best coffee and house made flavors in Portland. The owners are so sweet and seem like genuine people. Everything they make is delicious and their pastries are awesome!

Omg finally got to come here!!!! The hype is worth it. Had their seasonal flower latte and it was the best flower based latte my partner and I ever had. And they make the syrup in house. This is the ultimate flower latte in the PNW area and we've tried so many over our years in LA, SF, and now PNW. I also saw they have a chestnut and also a blackberry based latte. Can't wait to come back to try those too!

My barista was an absolute sweetheart. By the way people were coming in and greeted so warmly by those behind the counter, you can tell this is a beloved neighborhood spot. Surprising for such a trendy looking place too! I was recommended the Marron Latte & it was delicious! We need to add more chestnut into our coffee as a society because it's so good.

Hojicha latte and matcha latte with delicious milks! The name of Hypnos coffee definitely has the chill vibe of the Greek god of sleep a punny name indeed :) The service was friendly and patient as we were navigating the menu, we stayed for a good time and it was a wonderful relaxation spot as we were exploring the neighborhood. It's dog friendly & plays chill cafe lo fi music!

Hypnos catches your eye with a yellow awning, lures you in with a clean minimal design, and gets you to stay with Coava roasted beans and Bakeshop made pastries. With decor this trendy, I was pleasantly surprised by exceptionally friendly service! The cafe was abuzz on a Tuesday morning/midday so seating may be limited. I'd love to come back for their specialty lattes.

Very clean and aesthetic spot that will lure you in! I got a latte that was chestnut flavored I think. It tasted homemade. I don't think I'd get it again. I'm sure the other flavors are fantastic. Service was good. Staff was nice. Lots of seating inside.

Tried two drinks and they were both so yummy, staff was very nice and the atmosphere was a nice vibe. It was walking distance from our Airbnb and it was something we would like to have in the morning. Prices are a bit steep, but it was worth the yummy treat in the morning.

This is a sleek cozy cafe, but also really friendly, which makes it feel welcoming. I love all their specialty latte flavors, very creative and tasty. They also recently switched to carrying baked goods from Bakeshop, which is one of Portland's most reliable bakeries. I love sitting outside in the sidewalk seating on a nice day with my pup and my latte.

Absolutely in love with this spot! The asethetic can't be beat with clean looks and a warm color tone. Their menu is also very fun and creative. We tried the Bonbon Mocha and the Chestnut Latte with Cold Foam. Both were amazingly delicious! Subtle flavors that paired very well with the coffee. The people are also very nice, making the whole place super welcoming. Can't wait to already be back!

Had lunch across the street and decided to get something warm to drink since it was freezing. This coffee shop has the cutest aesthetic. The baristas there were super friendly and our drinks came out very quick. Parking here is mainly just street parking. I got the hojicha latte with oat milk and it was good. I'm a huge fan of the roasted sesame flavor so I was really excited to try it. There is also a few tables in the small coffee shop so you could get some work done or chat with a friend here.

Love me an aesthetically pleasing cafe with pretty drinks. I want to come back to try all their drinks! Plus, they have Jen's pastries!

I was in the area randomly and thought a coffee would be nice since I was parked right outside anyway. Parking can get a little difficult, but at least it's free. There were a few people inside enjoying their coffees on a random cold afternoon. There was no wait to order, but quite a few people lined up to pick up their drinks, so that took some time. The cashier was friendly and made recommendations. I decided on the blackberry latte. It was perfect, not too sweet or blackberry-y. I thoroughly enjoyed it :) Hypnos is a cute coffee shop. Very aesthetic. The menu is pretty simple and the coffee is delicious. There's really nothing bad about this place if you find yourself in the area too and enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Cute cafe with yummy matcha! I like the simple design. Barista was nice and helped us make a decision, gingerbread matcha and pear matcha!

Stopped by during the late morning to get the iced marron latte. The interior is super cute and minimalist. Like the other reviews, I also found the chestnut flavor very subtle. It might be worth trying, but nothing spectacular.

They have wonderful matcha! It's hard to find a matcha drink that tastes authentic and real. Their coffee drinks are also splendid! Their drinks are on the bitter side, so ask for additional sweeteners if that's what you like! 5/5 stars for their drinks! The baked goods are few, but big and buttery! Also delicious! The workers are super friendly and very welcoming. They work quickly and are consistent with their latte art. There is very little seating, however, the place is very clean and bright. This is a cute minimalistic cafe with big windows for natural lighting. I highly recommend stopping by! My friend and I loved it so much that we went twice within the week.

Hypnos is great! So glad they are in the neighborhood! The design is flawless, love the space! Owners are super nice and I've always had great service here. Do not miss out on the marron latte. It is divine!

The girl taking my order and was very nice and the bon bon mocha I ordered with cold foam was seriously the best mocha i've ever had. Super impressed and will definitely be coming back. The atmosphere was also very nice and a cool space. 10/10

Cute space but it was obvious the person working there was wanting to end his day. Had to ask for creamer.. 3.75 for a cup a joe... just a smile and some service would be amazing.

Great service. Ambience reminds me of Europe. Clean, sleep, modern small cafe. It's on Williams, close to many shops and other restaurants. Street parking.

We were staying at an Airbnb close by and were going to venture along N Williams Ave. We knew where we wanted to get pastries but wanted to get coffee from somewhere else. I was googling and scrolling along the map when I saw Hypnos Coffee. No yelp yet but they do have an Instagram. Very photogenic shop! Insta-photo vibes indeed. Different flavored lattes?? Sold. We tried the marron, bramble and vanilla latte. I think they use Coava coffee beans since I see them displayed around. They sure do make a latte right! Or it was just a really cold morning and so a hot/warm cup of coffee was so perfect. We couldn't fully taste the "flavors" of the lattes to be honest, or it was very subtle. Maybe too subtle, but for a non coffee drinker. I enjoyed them all. I see they have new winter flavor offerings on their Instagram page and am jealous! I would go back to try other ones. I did also pick up a kougn amann from their pastry display because it is made like the one back in the bay area! Not the dense flat kind! So it was yummy is what I was trying to say. I'd definitely support this cute artisan chic coffee shop if in the area. :)

The flavors they offer are so unique, and I love trying new lattes so of course we had to come here! The cafe itself is cute with a decent amount of seats, super picturesque. The workers were also very sweet. I'm not a coffee connoisseur, so I can't speak to the beans/roast or whatever, but I know what I like! And each drink was not too sweet, a perfect warm pick me up in the morning! I enjoyed them all, especially the vanilla, which surprised me because it's a more basic flavor! The marron (chestnut) and bramble (blackberry) were also good, but I couldn't really pick out the flavors when I was doing a blind taste test for fun. That's the only thing I docked points for, but to be honest, I'd still come back here.

overall: 4/5 drinks: 4/5 service: 4/5 ambiance: 5/5 beautiful exterior and interior design? hypnos ticks all of the boxes- beautifully decorated and the atmosphere is so serene and calming. only downsides: limited seating, and street parking. the cafe seems more like a place to catch up with a friend or to grab and go- not a place to study/get work done if that's what you're looking for! i sadly forgot to take pictures, but i ordered their iced mocha and my friend had their iced vanilla latte. both were super yummy but the only con in my mocha were the undissolved globs of chocolate at the bottom of my drink :,). i also noticed that they offer drinks with unique names- i'll have to come back to try whenever i'm in the area.

Where do I even begin? The coffee at Hypnos is absolutely incredible, and the team is just as fantastic. My partner and I were visiting Portland for New Year's and our airbnb was right around the corner. This was hands down the best coffee either of us has ever had. We ended up coming here every day, and by the third day, they had already remembered our usual order--an oat milk vanilla latte with cinnamon. Not only was the coffee beautifully crafted, but it was also very delicious. Honestly, I'd return to Portland just for another cup from Hypnos!

Very cute, bright space! Around 8 seating areas for a pair of people, we sat by the window. I caught up with a friend here, but saw people with books and their laptops to get work done. Highlight shoutout to our barista, JC! They were really kind and quick to help us. Interacting with them definitely made our time here all the more enjoyable. When we ordered our drinks, they gave us the option to choose the pretty cups pictured in my photos. And they heated up our pastry and brought it to us! Thank you, JC! Oh also, when the bathroom was out of toilet paper, and we asked for more, JC was quick to replace it and didn't make us feel embarrassed. Everything bagel pastry was super yummy with flaky layers and chive cream cheese in the middle! Served warm. The kouign-amann with jam was also quite tasty, the jam a bit sweet.

My favorite place to stop for matcha. Service is excellent, matcha is even better. My favorite is the bramble matcha latte. I go out of my way to come here every time I'm near Portland!

Stopped by on a quick trip to Portland and while it certainly is a cute coffee shop, I can't say the coffee was anything special. I ordered the Bramble Latte with oat milk and I could hardly taste the coffee. My husband ordered his usual cappuccino and said it tasted a little sour. That being said, the baristas were very sweet and the interior design was gorgeous. While I can't say it's my favorite out of Portland's many coffee shops, I would be open to trying it again if I'm ever back in the area.

Stopped by Hypnos while visiting Portland, and was actually in search of a different coffee shop on N. Williams Ave. we had visited on a past trip (which sadly closed). I'm very glad we stopped at Hypnos; everything was excellent. The shop itself is small but very nicely designed. The coffee and food were soooo good. My wife and I both had iced vanilla lattes and shared a feta artichoke danish. The baristas were very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be coming back soon.

Beautiful newer coffee place with bright interior and decor. Friendly staff, nice pastry selection, and just the right music (more jazz than banger rock that other Portland coffee shops can't avoid at 8 in the morning).

Loved this spot! The baristas were super friendly and helpful on a Sunday morning. It was full, but not overwhelming. The coffee was great, I just wish they had a decaf coffee option.

This place was overpriced and the drinks were bland as could be. The bon-bon mocha had practically no flavor and the hot chocolate tasted like chalk water. There was no menu for people in line to see which is ridiculous. The tables don't connect well as they were round so wasn't ideal for 3+ people. At least this place was clean (although bland like their drinks)...

Simply put: delicious. I had the Marron Latte iced. The flavor was delicious, complex with a hint of sweetness. The decor is simple and Nordic with a Parisian accent. Even the glassware is stylish. Service was engaging and courteous. Also had a slice of banana bread which was just right. So happy to find a special new place for coffee!

Service was great. We had great recommendations from the baristas and enjoyed our short time drinking our coffee, teas and a great ambiance.
