Great experience eating at Hy’s. Fried chicken bucket with 3 freshly made biscuits, you can’t go wrong. Hopefully they will add more craft and draft beer 🍺 options soon. Highly recommend

Cool spot with delicious food! We tried the fried chicken and the chicken sandwich. The fried chicken was very good but we liked the sandwich even more! It’s made with chicken thighs which are so moist and tender. The slaw made it so messy but soooo good. Their biscuits are fantastic, too, pairing exquisitely with the fried chicken. Their chicken sandwich on a biscuit would be a dream!! I wish they could accommodate all dark meat requests in their fried chicken orders as we’re not huge fans of breast meat.

Open the front door of this throwback roadside restaurant and step back in time! The "Old Eg" has been reborn as a stellar restaurant by day, disco by night. Everything about our experience last night (July 4th) was exceptional. From the warm greeting upon arrival (without reservations), to the friendly team service at the two-top beside the fireplace (topped by an homage to the restaurant's namesake prize-fighting cock, d. 1964)...from the heaps of delicious food (8-pc sweet/salty Sambal-sauced fried chicken with biscuits, garlicky crispy kale, barbecue potato salad), to the old-school drinks (a bucket of Miller High Life ponies!)...topped by a night of dancing to a 3-hour DJ set from none other than Mark Ronson...incredible! Pinch me. But what makes Hy's so noteworthy and memorable is the hands-on hospitality. In an age where mediocre service and pricey sub-par product seem the ubiquitous norm, this place is run with heart and savvy by a very hands-on owner, his wife, and hardworking team. Seating people, serving, busing, hustling, attending to every detail with warmth and efficiency. Go for the delicious food and creative cocktails. Stay for the dancing. Make the fun trip to support this fantastic find, and tell your friends! P.S. Mr. Luber: My hometown of Saratoga Springs NY just lost its landmark chicken shack. We could benefit from your twist, not to mention your inspired example of high-quality, no-frills, inclusive entertainment and warm hospitality.

My wife and I were in town visiting friends. We made a last-minute decision to hit up Hy’s Fried on a Saturday night. What a solid move it was. The place was packed out when we got there, but after about 10 minutes, the owner Jack came over, found us, and got us hooked up with a table. Absolute legend. The food slapped. Way better than I expected. After dinner the DJ was bumping, giving the whole place this cool energy. Totally not what we were expecting, but in the best way possible. A big shoutout to Jack for being super cool taking the time to stop by our table and get to know us a little bit. Don’t get that kind of personal touch too often anymore and the staff was just as great . Super friendly, quick, and made us feel like locals for the night. It was one of those random nights that turned memorable . Great food, good music, and even better people. We’ll 100% be back next time we’re in town.

I’d walk all the way from Los Angeles to come to Hy’s. The Food is amazing I probably shouldn’t have eaten that last pace, but you only live once. The atmosphere is even better. I just went last night. Had a particularly good time. Traveling back in time as the DJ took me back to my old school days of hip-hop mania - this place has got something for everybody from biscuits to Biz Markie to bingo. You can’t go wrong.

Great aesthetic, I respect the commitment to the theme. Fried chicken was good, crispy greens pretty good, but I thought the slaw was a little soggy. The wedge-y was ok but I’m not much of a wedge person, others said it was good. At 8:30 the dj started - I’d recommend sticking around and dancing! Liked the disco bops 🕺🏻

We are gluten free for medical reasons, so when we find a restaurant with several gluten free choices we are ecstatic! Even if you aren’t gluten free you will love the food. Our group sampled the fried chicken, chicken tenders, potato salad, cauliflower, wedge salad, and Cole slaw. Extensive adult drinks with daily specials. Tip- beer can be purchased by the bucket. Save room for dessert- the donuts are yummy! One order is 6 skewered mini donuts. Service was excellent. Don’t look at the building- it’s worth the stop.

Honestly, I’m not sure where to begin. My Fiance and I came up for the weekend to explore Hillsdale since we are getting married here next year. We were originally planning to go to a high end spot in Hudson, but after passing a sign on the road this place looked like too much fun and we had to check it out. It did NOT disappoint. We had the most fantastic night, starting with absolutely delicious fried chicken and sides. The chicken was crunchy on the outside and moist inside. The potato salad, crispy greens, and biscuits were all perfection. The cocktails were amazing. When the lights dimmed around 8:30 and the DJ turned up, wow this place is quite the party. Disco jams got every single person there on the floor. We had the best night! Need to get back here soon before the influencers get a hold of this place!

Yelp
Cute place! Fried chicken and honey was so good! The service was amazing! We went late and the service was the best! Super welcoming and the food was so good! The coleslaw is good with the fried chicken cus it just adds that refreshing touch. If I'm in the area I will def stop by again! They also have two bathrooms and the bathroom I used was spacious and clean :) The ice cream sandwich was so good! I've had several different flavors from that brand and I never tried this one and this one might be my fav! I don't think parking would be an issue. I went late at night so it def wasn't.

Yelp
Such an unexpected treat. Wonderful fried chicken that comes with a side of Bingo. Yes, the restaurant offers Bingo. I believe the guy calling the numbers also acts as DJ of the music as well . Bar area is fun and gets busy. A good time for all ages.

Yelp
Fun place. Sando is great. Music starts late. 9:30 or so. Avoid potato salad. Biscuits great.

Yelp
Hy's Fried is a unique chicken eatery and cocktail bar, located in a discreet old roadside building on MA Route 23 in Egremont, just several feet east of the NY State Line near Catamount Mountain. The atmosphere inside has a classic retro feel with fireplace, disco balls, DJ/record booth, red & black checkered linoleum floors, red & white booths, red chairs & tables, order takeout counter, and a small cocktail bar with 7 high red seats. The food menu offerings include fried chicken, chicken sandwich, biscuits, slaw, cauliflower, waffles, potato salad (served hot) and ice cream sandwich. The drink menu offers beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks such as juices, fresh lemonade, Mexican Coke, old egg cream, ginger beer, Dr. Browns, and Topo-Chico. For takeout, they strongly encourage ordering online through Toast. With the Toast app on my phone, I ordered The Sando ($14 plus tax) and Potato Salad ($9 plus tax). I was greeted by name as I walked in since staff already knew I just ordered online. My food was all set to go in under 10 minutes. The Chicken Sando was huge, a very crispy breaded boneless thigh topped with pickles and slaw, special sauce on a soft Kings Hawaiian bun. The Potato Salad did not look like a typical cold potato salad, but served hot with gold spuds, mayo, ground mustard, olive oil, BBQ salt, celery, vinegar, dill pickle, red onion, scallion, and lemon juice. The food I had was great and had nice flavors. I would definitely stop back again, but stay for the food, drinks, and vibes.

Yelp
We had a blast. Nothing we ate was terrible. Easy, fast, tasty. Good drinks! They easily transition to the dancing. Servers, bartender all accommodating and good. We love to dance as did everyone there. Interesting crowd. DJ was good but house music only goes so far. Would have like more popular 80s and 90s, less Studio 54" house. Still can't wait to go back!

Yelp
This is a great place. I love the color scheme. Everything is red. We got a bucket of chicken which came with three biscuits which is a great deal! The chicken has a sambal honey sauce which is quite divine. The fried chicken is just incredible. The sides were good, the potato salad was the stand out. They have a great soda and beer selection, IMHO. We were looking forward to trying the ice cream sandwiches, but my server just handed me the check while I was still eating dinner. My friend had finished but was in the bathroom. So there's that. I'm not sure if she was trying to get us out because it was a busy night but a table of 20 had just left so they had plenty of seating. Parking can be a challenge on a busy night but Hy's is certainly is a welcome addition to the area.

Yelp
It is very disappointing. The fact that the food is good, but not courteous at all to the customers. I purchased $85 worth of food. I ordered eight piece chicken bucket. I asked for one piece of a of chicken to be set aside and not dipped in the sauce since my grandson would not eat it with the sauce on it. I was told they don't do that. I could not change the order in anyway, and their suggestion was to add a two piece to my order and spend more money.

Yelp
This is a NEED to go spot. My fiancé and I stumbled upon it on a weekend away from the city and this is a gem. Food is amazing, cocktails great, music / atmosphere was the best part. Everyone was dancing and having a great time. I must return soon !

Yelp
Great food, fun vibe, reasonable prices in a very laid-back atmosphere. Highly recommended! And bonus that most of the items, including the fried chicken, are gluten-free!

David M.

Yelp
The vibe is great and I would definitely go back because it's fun and different for this area. Good drinks and atmosphere. The food is only "ok", we liked the sides but the chicken itself needs some work. It needs to be crispier and have more seasoning and the hot honey sauce has almost no kick and needs some spice. The biggest issue is if you don't like dark meat and want breasts you are out of luck. We even asked if we could pay extra for a chicken breast and they just don't allow it. I think that is a mistake and it is a big reason we would not visit more often.

Yelp
Try the hot-honey bird. Then come back a few days later and order the same thing. Then the next week again. Seriously. We were desperate for real chicken up here. No more. Thanks, people.

Sarah W.

Yelp
I recommend this place to everyone I know!!! Everything on the menu is perfection. The service was incredible and the vibes were great. Fried chicken, garlic greens, fried chicken sandwich to name a few highlights. If you're in the area, stop by!

Emmet O.

Yelp
One of the best fried chicken sandwiches I have ever had, truly impeccable. Do not miss out on the sides, potatoes, cauliflower, etc.

Ben D.

Yelp
Delicious food, great vibes and tremendous service. The fried chicken was some of the best I've ever had

David L.

Yelp
Don't get me wrong - the sides were good. The service was great and very eager. The atmosphere was very nice. . I asked for sauce on the side because fried chicken should be just as good without any sauce. For me, the chicken lacked flavor and personality. The biscuits "fresh out of the oven" were over baked and dry. Maybe it was just an off day?

Lisa K.

Yelp
killer chicken & potato salad. Amazing cocktails - loved the vibe and sounds too. such a welcome spot in our area!! Hyly recommend
