The Best Time to Visit Bali—And Where to Go for Your First Time | Condé Nast Traveler

"On arrival at Denpasar airport, expect to wait around two hours in long immigration queues, and be prepared for slow road journeys as heavy traffic can fill Bali's narrow roads." - Anna Chittenden

Flying to Bali? This App Is Now Mandatory for All Visitors | Condé Nast Traveler

"As of September 1, 2025, international visitors arriving at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport are required to use the All Indonesia app to submit a single digital arrivals declaration that integrates immigration, customs, health, and quarantine information; the form may be completed up to three days before departure. The free app is available via allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id and on the Google Play Store and App Store, initially rolled out at select entry points with plans for nationwide deployment. Authorities say the app shortens and secures the arrival process and is more user-friendly for all passengers — including the elderly, children, and people with disabilities — and that the collected data supports the security, health, and integrity of Indonesia's borders." - Scott Campbell

Viceroy Bali Review | Hotels Above Par

"The closest airport is Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in Denpasar, which is about an hour and a half away by car from the property."

Visiting Kuta Beach: Why This is The WORST Place in Bali!

"Getting to Kuta is straightforward: Denpasar International Airport (DPS) is about 15 minutes away by taxi. The standard prepaid airport taxi fare is 50,000 IDR, though if you walk away from the airport you can often find non-airport metered taxis that will do the trip for about 20,000 IDR (only a savings of roughly $1.75 USD, so the prepaid taxi is often worth the convenience). There is also a bus from outside the airport for around 4,000 IDR, but it takes much longer and is less convenient. From Ubud you can take a bus to Kuta for about 80,000 IDR each way, with several departures daily and a journey time around an hour (the distance is only ~35 km but traffic can be bad and roads sometimes flood during the rainy season)." - Matthew Kepnes

A great airport experience! Ngurah Rai International Airport is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. The staff were friendly and helpful, from immigration to security. There are plenty of shops, cafes, and souvenir stores to enjoy while waiting for your flight. The traditional Balinese design elements throughout the terminal add a unique cultural touch. Everything ran smoothly, and I was impressed by the efficiency and atmosphere. Highly recommended for travelers coming to or leaving Bali!

Bali Airport (Ngurah Rai International Airport) is well-maintained and offers a pleasant experience for travelers. There are plenty of good eateries and shopping options throughout the terminal. A nice touch is the availability of foot massage services inside the airport, which can be a great way to relax before or after a flight. The washrooms are generally clean and thoughtfully decorated with fresh flowers, adding a refreshing, local touch. Additionally, the Klook or Grab pickup point features an air-conditioned seating lounge, which is very convenient, especially when waiting for your ride. Flights get rescheduled/delayed quite often so check and confirm before you reach airport. Overall, the airport provides a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere for both arrivals and departures.

Welcome to Bali, Indonesia. A very beautiful airport. We did not find it difficult to navigate in or out of this place. There are some shopping stores located here. And there are also clear sign boards directing you towards your destination. Finding a taxi was easy as we found a Grab pick up point nearby. The people are friendly, including the customs officials, who were very welcoming. Kudos to the people of Bali and the Indonesian people in general for making our trip very memorable. Definitely coming back again to Bali and will explore the rest of Indonesia.

I recently had the pleasure of flying through Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali and was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. The airport is modern and well-maintained, with friendly and helpful staff throughout. The check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the security lines moved quickly. The airport also offers a good selection of shops and restaurants, making it a pleasant place to spend some time before your flight. One thing to note is that the airport can get quite crowded during peak season, so it's important to arrive early to avoid long queues. Overall, I would highly recommend Ngurah Rai International Airport to anyone traveling to Bali. P.S. There is no smoking lounge or zone inside the arrival terminal. But you can easily borrow a match box or lighter from the cab drivers standing right outside the terminus. They are very hospitable. ❤️

🌍 Good international airport overall especially great for departures. The departure process is smooth and well-organized, with a clean and modern terminal. ✈️ Arrivals are decent, but be prepared for long lines at visa on arrival, immigration, and customs. It can easily take 2 to 3 hours just to get through everything, especially during peak times. 💰 Currency exchange rates at the airport are very high, so it’s better to exchange only a small amount here and look for better rates in the city. 💧One important note: You are not allowed to bring even sealed water bottles past security. You’ll need to buy water after the security check, so keep that in mind –l water is treated like a precious commodity inside the airport. Overall, a good airport with modern facilities, but prepare for a slow arrival process and some inconveniences related to costs and waiting times.

Google
The most beautiful and well maintained international airport in Indonesia. Their domestic section also great. A lot of tenants and tax free shop available. They also improved parking and pick up area, new building adjacent to previous Solaria. Parking ticket is now 12k IDR for the first hour.

Among all the airports I have experienced on my life, Bali airport is one of my favorite airport and here is why: It is very clean, the people are very friendly, and the airport looks REALLY BEAUTIFUL. This time I had to walk from the domestic airport to the international airport and I discovered a very long corridor fully decorated with beautiful traditional paintings inspired by the Bali history. It was then a pleasure to spend 20mon walking with such beauty. Airports aren't places I enjoy staying but this one is really different, you can see that they made an effort and that it represents a culture. Only weak point that I see is about the taxi drivers and the SIM cards sellers who are too pushy to my taste. Balinese are known to be gentle, patient and kind, but those guys aren't like that and it is a pity. Other than that the experience is great.

The international departure area of Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport is spacious, clean, and fairly well-organised. While there are only two main lounges on the 2nd floor, the terminal makes up for it with plenty of shops and dining options—especially on the first floor, where you’ll find a wide variety of local and international brands. Everything on the departure side feels smooth and pleasant, with clear signage and helpful staff. However, the arrival experience can be quite hectic. Baggage claim tends to be slow, and the crowds at immigration can feel overwhelming during peak hours. Still, once you’re past that, the departure experience is relatively relaxed and easy to navigate.
