I Loaf Sourdough - Review - Fort Lauderdale - Miami - The Infatuation

"This bakery should be in your weekend bread routine and on your Fort Lauderdale croissant shortlist. Come early to ensure you have your pick from those outstanding croissants, which are available plain, stuffed with spinach and cheese, or with a respectable amount of chocolate. They’re crisp and golden outside and have an airy web of buttery dough inside. If you need something else to pad out your order, the display case also tends to include rotating sandwiches, cookies, loaves of bread, and soft-as-a-cumulus-cloud chocolate cheesecake, which are all very good." - Ryan Pfeffer

Google
As soon as you walk in you’re kindly greeted by the employee and all of the breads and pastries are on display. They take the time to tell you about all of their items they have freshly made. She baker / chef is in the back working on fresh breads and items to get out on the display. They also sell coffee and sourdough starter (must give 24 hour notice). The pricing is very fair and the bread is really good! I would definitely recommend this place!

Google
I can’t rave about this place enough. Just absolutely delicious! I had an amazing bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a fresh jalapeño cheese sourdough. It was potentially the best I’ve ever had. I couldn’t help but get some pastries to go after inhaling my sandwich. The croissants are picturesque and every one called to me. I had an oatmeal raisin cookie of my dreams. And I tried a little tiny pastry containing ricotta and orange whose name I won’t dare try to spell that really blew me away. You can’t go wrong with a single thing here. The wife and I agree we want to host the next party just so we can serve a batch of the cookies.

Google
Best Bakery in South Florida. Should have been best Bakery in the Fort Lauderdale magazine 2025, hopefully they get it right in 2026. Everything is good, everything sells out, get there early, chef is legit..must visit.

Google
Absolutely thrilled to have this bakery in the area! Homemade pastries, sweets, breads, and more. As an added bonus, they serve exceptional coffee as well. This spot is primarily take out, though they have a small standing area. Service is very kind and they’re happy to explain each of the items if needed. Beautifully prepared pastries with exceptional attention to detail. Really flaky, flavorful, and substantial. Can’t wait to try more!

Google
Always a hit! The quality of the sourdough and the pastries are always consistent. This is the best place in Broward County to get a great quality loaf, and pastries.

Google
I Loaf Sourdough is the real deal. The bread is true sourdough crispy crust, airy crumb, and packed with flavor. Today’s wagyu pastrami sandwich with cornichons pickles and roasted red pepper was incredible. Everything is fresh, creative, and made to the T. Great pastries, and amazing baker, we love it!

Yelp
I had such a wonderful experience at I Loaf Sourdough, a true gem of an independent bakery in East Fort Lauderdale. The baker personally helped me select a sampling of their goods, and everything was absolutely delightful. I tried the pecan cookie, the apple crumb cake, the buttery almond poppyseed cake, and a croissant, each one beautifully crafted and full of flavor. You can immediately tell how much pride and care goes into every item. Of course, we couldn't leave without ordering two loaves of their signature sourdough. The walnut raisin loaf had a subtle sweetness that was just perfect, and the classic sourdough OG had a fantastic flavor, a crisp, flavorful crust, and a wonderfully tender crumb. Truly, this baker shines in their craft. We are so lucky to have a bake shop of this caliber right here in Fort Lauderdale -- it feels like stepping into a European bakery without leaving home. A side note: I noticed some negative reviews from people who admitted they hadn't even tried the baked goods. Opening and running an independent bakery takes an extraordinary amount of work, passion, investment, and years of training. This is someone's dream, built loaf by loaf, pastry by pastry. If you haven't tasted the product, think twice before leaving an unwarranted review. Especially when the work is this exceptional. Otherwise, well... karma.

Yelp
Every time I come here there is a closed sign on the door even when it's during operating hours. It's either 'we're on summer vacation' or they just feel like flipping the sign to closed even though there are workers inside. I'm tired of trying to come here.

Yelp
Two words..."THE BEST" You can tell she puts her heart and soul into these delicious treats. Been going at least twice a week!

Yelp
Super cute little bakery! First time trying it this morning with my fiancé and we loved it! I had an almond croissant and an iced latte and my fiancé had a turkey and cheddar croissant with a hot latte. We were both impressed! They were super friendly and quick!

Yelp
Run and do not delay to visit this perfect little bakery. I am in love with the signature sourdough bread. Her croissants are buttery and flaky. She offers a variety of baked goods both sweet and savory. Makes delicious coffee drinks too. I've visited twice so far and will make the 35 min drive for her bread any day.

Yelp
I love sourdough bread and artisan bakeries so when I heard about this bakery that opened just a few weeks ago I had to come and check it out. I Loaf Sourdough is located in Oakland Park on Commercial Boulevard west of the bridge. It is in one of the plazas where if you park in front of the business you have to pay but if you park facing Commercial Boulevard it is free. I Loaf Sourdough is the creation of Chef Gözde Karan from Turkey. She is absolutely lovely to talk to and you can tell she has a real passion for her craft down to the chef's knife tattooed on her forearm. She has worked all over the world as a chef and for the last five years she has been concentrating on perfecting her baking skills. She started out baking loves of bread at home for her friends and then moved on to working in commercial kitchens. After three years she was ready to open her own bakery and we are so lucky to have her. The star of the show is the sourdough bread but there are also a number of mouth watering pastries including sweet breads, cookies, muffins, macarons, and croissants to choose from. She also sells coffee, tea, lemonade, and other beverages. After careful consideration I ordered the BLT on the sourdough bread, an iced latte, and a couple of cookies. There aren't any tables inside so all food is take out. After watching all of the care put into making my sandwich and coffee I knew I was in for a treat. I took my lunch to a nearby park where I could enjoy the lovely weather and fully indulge in lunch. The BLT is a massive a two hander. The rustic bread was tangy with a chewy crust and a soft, airy crumb. The spicy mayo imparted so much flavor. It was the best BLT I have ever had but I could only finish half of it. I shared the other half with someone else who was very grateful and wanted to know where I got it because they loved it so much. The iced latte was the perfect compliment to the soul satisfying sandwich. The cookie I had with coconut, pecans, and chocolate chips was perfection. Chef Karan is baking from her heart so please come out and support her. She also offers catering.

Yelp
This new location with artisanal baked goods, all from sour dough, should do quite well with the friendly management and Baker extraordinaire! The smells, beautiful pastries and coffee aroma are warm and welcoming. We purchased a loaf of Ciabatta sour dough bread and enjoyed it at home. Nice folks and lots of Sour dough items to enjoy!

Yelp
This bakery is a cute, small shop tucked between a variety of stores and other businesses on the south side of Oakland Park Blvd. We were in the area and wanted to check out their breads. There are free parking spaces located closest to the street and metered spots right out front. In addition to their breads, they have a selection of pastries made daily. They don't carry too many of each variety as they want them all to be fresh. And the types of breads vary each day as well with different added ingredients plus the "plain" originals. The sourdough breads are huge. Quite a bit larger than we anticipated for just the two of us. We decided to wait until we would be around for at least a week to eat it or freeze it. Unfortunately, they don't sell half loaves or smaller sizes for us to try it. Instead, I wound up getting a small ciabatta. For some that would be one hoagie/sub roll/sandwich roll, but for me that will be a couple days of toast, etc. We hadn't eaten lunch yet when we stopped by, so we didn't feel like anything sweet, though the pastries looked lovely. They have a full line of coffees to have with your pastry -- as a breakfast or afternoon snack. And a board on the counter also highlighted a couple featured sandwiches for the day. I'm glad we stopped by to check them out. The owners were friendly and welcoming. I'm sure we will return when next in the neighborhood.

Yelp
This is a one of a kind bakery. The two woman who work her are so kind, and attentive. I purchased a spinach pastry, a chocolate croissant, and a loaf of sourdough bread, as well as a mocha iced coffee. To start off the loafs are huge. I have been having the slices on toast with butter and jam, and have freezer half because of the size. It is so fresh and good, you can tell they use clean ingredients. The croissant was flaky and fresh. The spinach pastry was also delicious. My iced coffee had the perfect amount of mocha. I will definitely be back. My only recommendation is even though there pastries change day by day I think it would be a great idea to label what each thing is. Even if its on a little black board label. This way customers know what there is. I noticed each time someone came in they had to repeat everything that was in the bakery case. All in all, I had a great experience and will definitely be back :)

Yelp
I was the first reviewer and am thrilled so many people have commented and tried this lovely shop! I returned yesterday....new purchases: Molasses cookie - absolute perfection, just like her snickerdoodles. Moist, but firm, perfect spice, unfortunately I had only two bites as husband inhaled it. I also bought 1/2 dozen misc cookies for my chiropractor's office 5 doors away! The 'borek' spelling is probably wrong. A spiral shaped pastry bursting with spinach and a moist white cheese similar to feta . Deliciously decadent, but the health properties of spinach! You must try ! See partially eaten photo. Another new thing.... I don't know name. Picture attached. Savory, not sweet, filled with potato, somewhat dry crust. Bread loaf ... excellent AGAIN! Rice pudding awaits my spoon! See my pictures ! Everything looks delectable, perfectly formed!

Yelp
Delicious, tasty sourdough bread in various flavors. With the black olive loaded one my alltime favorite. Pistachio croissants to die for... all yummy and freshly baked for the days sales

Yelp
Chefs kiss on such a delicious ham and cheese croissant! That was honestly what I was craving and it hit the spot and more. Next time I will try the coffee but the croissant was fresh, savory and the added seasoning on top of the croissant made it a bit different than others in a positive way. Thank you for the quick and friendly service. I will be back soon!

Yelp
Shops with limited selections. The sourdough is sour I'd like. The service was nice. I'm still looking for a good sourdough bread store
google avatar

Marlin T.

Yelp
I gave this bakery a visit today for lunch to try one of the sandwiches displayed on social media The shop is small with no seating I inquired about getting a sandwich and was told they only had one premade sandwich The bread and pastries on display were beautiful and delicious looking I purchased a loaf of sourdough, a croissoint and a scone and throughly enjoyed them It was obvious they were top quality I will return when I can have one of those delicious looking sandwich on the menu

Yelp
The ONLY place for sourdough bread in Fort Lauderdale. I always love popping in for a delicious treat - their sourdough croissant and jalapeño cheddar sourdough is a MUST for turkey sandwiches. Don't sleep on this bakery and support small business!
google avatar

Yelp
The lady helping at the register wasn't very friendly but the food was amazing. The sandwiches run out quick so get there early. Next time I go it will be in the morning

Yelp
The real deal old world levain sourdough. Special sandwiches daily. On incredible bread. Got BLT w spicy mayo for breakfast. Huge. Also, the "plain" loaf for the week. The crumb is heavenly. Just the perfect crunch to tender ratio. Coffee is excellent. Friendly and not crowded (yet). GO! Oh, yes, pastries too....sigh. No inside seating but for food this good the curb or car is fine!

Yelp
This is a great neighborhood bakery! We noticed it today when visiting a nearby business and decided to stop in. We are so glad we did. Everything we tried was delicious.

Yelp
Cute bakery with friendly people. There are a nice variety of different options. The oat bar and the bread are both fresh and very tasty!!!!! I will be returning. They did also mention they use European flour, so at least it makes it a bit better for us .

Yelp
EXCELLENT SOURDOUGH BREAD!!!! I'm in trouble now!! And the cookies are awesome too! They also have vegan chocolate!!!

Sara C.

Yelp
My second time here in a week! Love walking in and seeing all the beautiful pastries and baked goods. Always greeted with a smile and a big good morning! I always get a loaf of warm sourdough and a treat, this week it's a cornmeal, lemon shortbread cookie, sooo happy I tried it. Not too sweet or lemony, a perfect balance; I love cookies!! Last week I picked up a big, buttery, flaky croissant!! It was hard not to get another this week. I couldn't find pricing anywhere so here is my receipt from the sourdough and the cookie. So many items to to try, definitely check out!

Gabriela T.

Yelp
The first time I had the sourdough, I went to heaven and came back. The loafs are huge and you can taste the quality. The pastries are also phenomenal so it's worth checking it out. I used to never eat bread and now I buy loaf every other week.

Tim B.

Yelp
I go for the sourdough bread it's amazing it's absolutely worth the trip . The service is fast and friendly I highly recommend it .

Yelp
I bought a loaf of sourdough. It's as good as the best San Francisco sourdoughs. We are lucky to have this locally.
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
The plain sourdough is great! And the croissants are delicious. I wish they had a bread slicer though

Awds o.

Yelp
The best croissants in Broward! The croissants are buttery and flaky. It's worth a visit if you want an excellent croissant.

Yelp
I take bread/pastry very seriously and let me tell you the walnut sourdough loaf is to die for. I also really enjoyed the spinach pastry. I cant wait to try it all.

Tim E.

Yelp
Fantastic bread and baked goods. Can't resist the baked goodies. Yelp is making me add more words which is ridiculous. The shop is nice and service is excellent

Alec B.

Yelp
What a wonderful shop! I've been many times already and everything is good but the shop owner is so sweet and was so caring! The BLT is soooo dang good! Only served on weekdays but amazing! It's huge and such great quality! Excited to try the blueberry pie also!

Yelp
We had driven past this place the other day and took note as artisan bakeries are hard to come by down here. A few days later, we set out to make a grilled cheese (paired with tomato soup) and thought to purchase some bread from "I Loaf Sourdough". We purchased a loaf of the Country Sourdough and were happy we did! Fresh, delicious and hard crusted... great service and they offered other pastries, cookies and coffee. Check them out!

Carson F.

Yelp
A bakery worth driving for! It's rare to find such high quality baked goods, everything we tried was beyond our expectations. The crumb shot alone should be enough to convince you to try this bakery out. This place deserves all the awards. It's hard work to open a bakery with such high standards as this one, but clearly the work has been put in! The inside is fresh and clean with a beautiful display case showing there baked goods and a pristine open kitchen with morning baked loaves on the racks. The staff were friendly and helpful to any questions I had about the the bakery. I for sure will be back soon!
google avatar

Christine D.

Yelp
This place is great! Delicious, sourdough baked fresh every day with healthy ingredients. They also make sandwiches, croissants, cookies and have a full coffee menu. The service was great, and if they don't have what you were looking for, the pastry chef will take your phone number and text you when it's available.
google avatar

Lihi M.

Yelp
Grease food and a caring owner with great sense of customer service. We loved seeing this business arise and we hope it'll stick around. We will be sure to keep supporting it. I do believe the loaf price is a bit too high. Additionally as a sahlep lover, I'd ease down on the sugar, and add toppings as desired such as coconut, pistachio, rose flower, etc.
google avatar

Liz M.

Yelp
Everything is baked fresh in the morning. I tried her croissant and banana bread and it is out of this world good!!!

Brittany N.

Yelp
I purchased their grain sourdough loaf, and everyone at work loved it. It was so soft and fresh. Their chocolate chip cookies are also to die for. Support your local small businesses!

Wilton L.

Yelp
I've been in three different times and they have never had sour dough bread loafs, very disappointing. When do they have it?
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
Amazingly delicious! Best bread and pastries in south Florida by far. So glad it's in my neighborhood

Tikiti T.

Yelp
Amazing bakery! Run, don't walk to this new bakery. Gorgeous sourdough loaves and pastries. Savory and sweet scones, great coffee. Very friendly folks who obviously know what they're doing. Can't wait to come back and try more things.

Tiffiny M.

Yelp
So happy to have I Loaf Sourdough in our neighborhood Best ingredients sour dough is amazing unique daily limited loafs. I could go on and on must stop for weekly bread on east Fort Lauderdale.

Krista O.

Yelp
Everything we've had has been excellent! We've tried the flavored sourdough bread, croissants and cookies, all delicious.

Marion F.

Yelp
Great bread with perfect sourdough flavor. And kind owners. It is a little hard to find but worth continuing on service road.

Janet D.

Yelp
